    His-Bundle Pacing in a Patient With Tricuspid and Mitral Prosthetic Valves Without Suitable Coronary Veins for Lead Placement

    Atrioventricular block in patients with a prosthetic tricuspid valve and a pacemaker with a dysfunctional epicardial lead is not uncommon. In such instances, coronary sinus lead placement is the preferred option, but it has a failure rate of 10%-15%. An atrial transseptal left ventricular lead placement has been proposed as an alternative, but this approach is not feasible in patients with a prosthetic mitral valve. This analysis represents the first reported case of His-bundle pacing from the atria in a patient with prosthetic tricuspid and mitral valves, with no suitable coronary veins for lead placement. © 2021 The Author

    Este artículo presenta y analiza la innovación experimentada en distintas asignaturas de la Universitat de València en torno al concepto de la e-Evaluación y su aplicación a través de la plataforma de formación Aula Virtual. Por un lado, se presentan los aspectos teóricos más relevantes del incipiente movimiento e-Evaluación orientada al aprendizaje y, por otro, se señalan los procedimientos evaluativos establecidos con objeto de experimentar dicho cambio en diferentes titulaciones y grupos de estudiantes de dicha Universidad. La investigación presentada, Eval-Aula, se enmarca en los Proyectos de Innovación Educativa implementados en la Universitat de València durante los cursos académicos 2011-12 y 2012-13. En el equipo investigador que ha participado en esta innovación se integran ocho profesores/as de diferentes departamentos y de seis titulaciones de esta universidad. Los resultados obtenidos y las conclusiones planteadas permiten analizar los cambios positivos relacionados con la adquisición de las competencias de aprendizaje de los estudiantes y las mejoras en los procedimientos de evaluación desarrollados por los docentes universitarios desde un entorno virtual concreto de enseñanza-aprendizaje

    Expansion for the solutions of the Bogomolny equations on the torus

    We show that the solutions of the Bogomolny equations for the Abelian Higgs model on a two-dimensional torus, can be expanded in powers of a quantity epsilon measuring the departure of the area from the critical area. This allows a precise determination of the shape of the solutions for all magnetic fluxes and arbitrary position of the Higgs field zeroes. The expansion is carried out to 51 orders for a couple of representative cases, including the unit flux case. We analyse the behaviour of the expansion in the limit of large areas, in which case the solutions approach those on the plane.     Comparison between traditional and reverse periodization: swimming performance and specific strength values

    International Journal of Swimming Kinetics 2(1): 87-96, 2013. Periodization of athletic training is conceptualized as a pedagogical process, which involves varying volume, intensity and frequency of training in attempt to optimize sporting performance. The primary purpose of this research was to compare changes in 100m swim performance (t100c), specific swim power output (SSP) and maximum drag charge (MDC), after 14 weeks of training traditional periodization (control) and reverse periodization (treatment). There were 26 volunteer swimmers (16.02±0.6 yrs. 1.72±9.3 cm 64.1±9.3 kg) divided in two groups traditional periodization (TP) and reverse periodization (RP). Results at the 14th week showed significant improvements (p\u3c0.05) in values of t100c (6.9%), SSP (20.9%) and MDC (10.0%) by RP above TP values. The results demonstrated that reverse periodization is specific and an efficient strategy of training for sprinters at time to reduce significantly load volume

    Congenital contractural arachnodactyly (Beals syndrome)

    Congenital contractural arachnodactyly (Beals syndrome) is an autosomal dominantly inherited connective tissue disorder characterized by multiple flexion contractures, arachnodactyly, severe kyphoscoliosis, abnormal pinnae and muscular hypoplasia. It is caused by a mutation in FBN2 gene on chromosome 5q23. Although the clinical features can be similar to Marfan syndrome (MFS), multiple joint contractures (especially elbow, knee and finger joints), and crumpled ears in the absence of significant aortic root dilatation are characteristic of Beals syndrome and rarely found in Marfan syndrome. The incidence of CCA is unknown and its prevalence is difficult to estimate considering the overlap in phenotype with MFS; the number of patients reported has increased following the identification of FBN2 mutation. Molecular prenatal diagnosis is possible. Ultrasound imaging may be used to demonstrate joint contractures and hypokinesia in suspected cases. Management of children with CCA is symptomatic. Spontaneous improvement in camptodactyly and contractures is observed but residual camptodactyly always remains. Early intervention for scoliosis can prevent morbidity later in life. Cardiac evaluation and ophthalmologic evaluations are recommended

    The gradient flow running coupling with twisted boundary conditions

    We study the gradient flow for Yang-Mills theories with twisted boundary conditions. The perturbative behavior of the energy density E(t)\langle E(t)\rangle is used to define a running coupling at a scale given by the linear size of the finite volume box. We compute the non-perturbative running of the pure gauge SU(2)SU(2) coupling constant and conclude that the technique is well suited for further applications due to the relatively mild cutoff effects of the step scaling function and the high numerical precision that can be achieved in lattice simulations.
