Euroskeptic Voting in European and National Elections: A Coalition Theory of European Voting
The conventional explanation of European Parliament (EP) voting maintains that
European elections are âsecond-orderâ elections in which citizens send a message to their
national government. As a result, governing parties normally see significant losses in their vote
shares in EP elections. This argument assumes that national elections reflect votersâ sincere
preferences, while voters make strategic choices in EP elections. This is not fully satisfactory
because there is no theoretical or empirical reason to assume that voters act strategically only in
EP elections. Instead, we assume that voters act strategically in all elections, and voters
anticipate the policy effects of coalition negotiations at the domestic level and bargaining within
the European Union at the supranational level. We show that Euroskeptic parties are less likely
to join governing coalitions and that their supporters may vote against them in national elections
for this reason. Because the EP does not form a European government, this strategic
consideration is absent in EP elections, and Euroskeptic parties will therefore perform better

A design framework and a digital toolset supporting the early-stage explorations of responsive kinetic building skin concepts
In this paper we present the first phase of our research on the development of a framework for early-stage responsive kinetic building skin design. The aims of this study were: to formulate a methodological and instrumental basis for the construction of the framework, to conduct an initial pre-assessment of its features, and finally to provide the first example of how the framework could be applied in practice. Importantly, at this point our goal was not yet to indicate the framework\u27s effectiveness, but rather focus on formulating its foundations. A pilot design experiment, aimed at the probing of the framework\u27s characteristics, suggests the emergence of its two noteworthy features. Firstly, it allows to freely but at the same time also systematically explore six design aspects of responsive architecture: form, functionality, performance, kinetic behaviors, system mechanics and responsiveness. Secondly, it helps to explore these six aspects using diverse means: parametric models, digital simulations, computational analyses, physical models and interactive prototypes. These features suggest that the framework could be a valid and useful means of supporting designers in the complex task of creating architectural concepts of responsive kinetic structures. \ua9 2015, Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria

Rituximab therapy in generalized refractory myasthenia gravis. Case report
Background: Rituximab is a human-mouse chimeric IgG1 monoclonal antibody directed against antigen CD-20, transmembrane phosphoprotein on B cells. This drug induce depletion of B cells and subsequent reduction in antibody production. Recently there were cases of severe AChR-antibody positive and MuSK-positive myasthenia gravis (MG) successfully treated with rituximab. Case report: Forty-three-year-old women with tygorefractory MG with predominantly generalised weakness in extremities, bulbar symptoms and dyspnea, who presented for the first time in 1992. Thymectomy was perform in 1997. During 15 years of therapy patient had one crise in 1997 and one in 1999. In 2007, she had five hospital admission. She did not respond adequately to acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, thymectomy, repeat plasma exchange and conventional immunosuppressive therapy such as azathioprine, cyclophosphamide and prednisone. For this reason rituximab (MabTheraÂź, Roche) therapy was added. Rituximab was administered at a dose of 375 mg/m2 intravenously according to a protocol every 7 days for 4 weeks. She received also prednisone at a dose of 20 mg and pyridostigmine 180 mg per day all the time. Within 4 weeks therapy she showed maintained clinical improvement. Dyspnea and bulbar symptoms were disappearanced and walking distances was longer. We did not observe serious adverse events, only after first infusion transient oedema of mucosa nasal and oral cavity with concurrent pruritus and after second infusion transient myalgia, chills and subfebrile body temperature were found. Conclusions: In this case use of rituximab leading to significant clinical improvement in refractory myasthenia gravis. The therapy was well tolerated and any serious adverse events were registered.WstÄp: Rituksymab jest chimerycznym przeciwciaĆem monoklonalnym klasy IgG1, skierowanym przeciwko antygenowi CD20, przezbĆonowej fosfoproteinie limfocytĂłw B. Polish word sketches
Word sketches are one-page automatic, corpus-based summaries of a word's grammatical and collocational behaviour. They were first used in the production of the Macmillan English Dictionary (Rundell 2002). At that point, word sketches only existed for English. Today, the Sketch Engine is available, a corpus tool which takes as input a corpus of any language and corresponding grammar patterns and which generates word sketches for the words of that language. It also automatically generates a thesaurus and 'sketch differences', which specify similarities and differences between near-synonyms. A web corpus of Polish was morpho-syntactically tagged and loaded into the Sketch Engine. We describe the Polish Sketch Grammar and show how the resulting word sketches can be used in lexicography and for other linguistic purposes. The results show that word sketches could significantly facilitate lexicographic work for Polish, as they have for other languages
Technological ageing influence on viscosity of selected bitumens
The article presents one of the main parameters of bitumens used for asphalt concrete mixtures productionâviscosity. The authors analyse technological ageing process and its influence on viscosity of selected bitumens. Dependence of the viscosity of bitumens on type and amount of the additives, temperature and ageing is described through experiments. Research findings show that the employment of different types of additives increases bitumen viscosity and positively effect the bitumen ageing resistance. Practical application of presented conclusions and recommendations will enable to improve the main characteristics of asphalt concrete pavements and traffic conditions on roads.
