Multicultural Microskills: Implementation on an Existing Design
The governing bodies (CACREP; ACA) of mental health counseling have mandated that multicultural training be added to the counselor education curriculum. Counselor educators have found ways to implement diversity issues into pedagogy using various methods, but there has been a lack of focus on multicultural skills. This article will detail current multicultural pedagogy and assessment, a brief history of microskills, and how counselors can use microskills to enhance multicultural skill development

It draws together available information on transport and movement flows in the trans-Pennine corridor. These patterns of movement are examined from a broad perspective which considers intra-regional, inter- regional and international movements within and across the study area. What's the difference between medical and nursing care? The answer is not straightforward, but shortages in the medical workforce mean that nurses are increasingly called on to undertake work that was previously done by doctors (such as undertaking surgery,1 prescribing drugs, performing triage in emergency departments), whereas shortages in the nursing workforce mean that healthcare assistants now do many tasks that nurses are trained to do. This fluidity in professional roles and competencies enables the health workforce to respond to need, but are outcomes for patients being improved? Do these benefits come at an additional cost, and if so, are they worth paying for
Asymptotic solution of a model for bilayer organic diodes and solar cells
The current voltage characteristics of an organic semiconductor diode made by placing together two materials with dissimilar electron affinities and ionisation potentials is analysed using asymptotic methods. An intricate boundary layer structure is examined. We find that there are three regimes for the total current passing through the diode. For reverse bias and moderate forward bias the dependency of the voltage on the current is similar to the behaviour of conventional inorganic semiconductor diodes predicted by the Shockley equation and are governed by recombination at the interface of the materials. There is then a narrow range of currents where the behaviour undergoes a transition. Finally for large forward bias the behaviour is different with the current being linear in voltage and is primarily controlled by drift of charges in the organic layers. The size of the interfacial recombination rate is critical in determining the small range of current where there is rapid transition between the two main regimes. The extension of the theory to organic solar cells is discussed and the analogous current voltage curves derived in the regime of interest
Interplanetary Trajectory Optimization with Powerlimited Propulsion Systems
A trajectory-optimization process is described in which the optimum thrust equations are derived using the calculus of variations. The magnitude of the thrust is constrained within an upper and a lower bound, but the thrust direction is arbitrary. This formulation allows both the constant-thrust program and the variable-thrust program to be considered. For the constant-thrust program, certain propulsion-system parameters are optimized for maximum final vehicle mass. This theory has been used to study interplanetary missions to Venus and Mars using a power-limited propulsion system. Both one-way and round trip rendezvous trajectories are considered. The analysis employs a two-body inverse-square force-field model of three dimensions. An iterative routine used to solve the two-point boundary-value problem is described in the Appendix
A fast and robust numerical scheme for solving models of charge carrier transport and ion vacancy motion in perovskite solar cells
Drift-diffusion models that account for the motion of both electronic and
ionic charges are important tools for explaining the hysteretic behaviour and
guiding the development of metal halide perovskite solar cells. Furnishing
numerical solutions to such models for realistic operating conditions is
challenging owing to the extreme values of some of the parameters. In
particular, those characterising (i) the short Debye lengths (giving rise to
rapid changes in the solutions across narrow layers), (ii) the relatively large
potential differences across devices and (iii) the disparity in timescales
between the motion of the electronic and ionic species give rise to significant
stiffness. We present a finite difference scheme with an adaptive time step
that is posed on a non-uniform staggered grid that provides second order
accuracy in the mesh spacing. The method is able to cope with the stiffness of
the system for realistic parameters values whilst providing high accuracy and
maintaining modest computational costs. For example, a transient sweep of a
current-voltage curve can be computed in only a few minutes on a standard

The effect of feedback and information on children's pedometer step counts at school
This study examined whether feedback or feedback plus physical activity information could increase the number of pedometer steps taken during 1 school week. One hundred seventy-seven students (mean age 9.124 ± 1.11 years) in three elementary schools participated. Schools were randomly assigned to control (CON), feedback (FB), or feedback plus information (FB+I) groups. Children wore pedometers during school time for 5 consecutive weekdays. The total steps of the groups were recorded at the end of each school day, with students in the FB and FB+I groups free to view their step counts. In addition, the FB+I group received information and ideas about how they could increase their daily steps. The CON group received no step-count feedback or information. Students in the FB+I group achieved significantly more steps per minute (17.17 ± 4.87) than those in the FB (13.77 ± 4.06, p = 0.003) and CON (12.41 ± 3.12, p = 0.0001) groups. Information, as well as step-count feedback, increased elementary studentsâ school-based physical activity (number of steps) in the short term. A longer intervention period is necessary to assess the sustained impact of this type of approach
Financial Conditions on U.S. Cotton Farms
For the last three years, U.S. cotton producers have been heavily dependent on ad hoc emergency disaster and market loss assistance to cash flow their operations. They have not been alone. Wheat, feed grains, oilseeds and rice producers have also been faced with low commodity prices, adverse weather and the need for substantial government assistance. Price support and direct payments by CCC for fiscal years 1998-2000 averaged $17.5 billion per year (USDA Ag Outlook). Has U.S. program crop agriculture turned the corner or will additional government payments likely be needed to sustain a vulnerable sector? This paper will focus on the outlook for the Agricultural and Food Policy Centerâs (AFPCâs) representative cotton farms over the period 2001-2005.
