Measurement results of transmit delay diversity for DVB-T networks
This paper describes work carried out by Brunel University and Broadreach systems (UK) to quantify the advantages that can be achieved if transmit diversity is applied to systems employing the DVB standard. The techniques investigated can be applied to standard receiver equipment without modification. An extensive and carefully planned field trial performed during the winter of 2007/2008 in Uxbridge (UK) is described. The transmissions were performed in the 730 MHz frequency band with a DVB-T transmitter and a mean power of 18.4 dBW. Transmit delay diversity has been observed to deliver significant reception improvement in automotive- non line of sight situations
Comment on ``Neutrino oscillations in the early universe: how can large lepton asymmetry be generated?"
We comment on the recent paper by A. D. Dolgov, S. H. Hansen, S. Pastor and
D. V. Semikoz (DHPS) [Astropart. Phys. {\bf 14}, 79 (2000)] on the generation
of neutrino asymmetries from active-sterile neutrino oscillations. We
demonstrate that the approximate asymmetry evolution equation obtained therein
is an expansion, up to a minor discrepancy, of the well-established static
approximation equation, valid only when the supposedly new higher order
correction term is small. In the regime where this so-called ``back-reaction''
term is large and artificially terminates the asymmetry growth, their evolution
equation ceases to be a faithful approximation to the Quantum Kinetic Equations
(QKEs) simply because pure Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein (MSW) transitions have
been neglected. At low temperatures the MSW effect is the dominant asymmetry
amplifier. Neither the static nor the DHPS approach contains this important
physics. Therefore we conclude that the DHPS results have sufficient veracity
at the onset of explosive asymmetry generation, but are invalid in the ensuing
low temperature epoch where MSW conversions are able to enhance the asymmetry
to values of order . DHPS do claim to find a significant final
asymmetry for very large values. However, for this regime the

Active-sterile neutrino oscillations in the early Universe: asymmetry generation at low |delta m^2| and the Landau-Zener approximation
It is well established that active-sterile neutrino oscillations generate
large neutrino asymmetries for very small mixing angles (), negative values of and provided that
. By numerically solving the quantum
kinetic equations, we show that the generation still occurs at much lower
values of . We also describe the borders of the generation at
small mixing angles and show how our numerical results can be analytically
understood within the framework of the Landau-Zener approximation thereby
extending previous work based on the adiabatic limit. This approximate approach
leads to a fair description of the MSW dominated regime of the neutrino
asymmetry evolution and is also able to correctly reproduce its final value. We
also briefly discuss the impact that neutrino asymmetry generation could have

Test-bed development & measurement plan for evaluating transmit diversity in DVB networks
This paper presents a test-bed development and measurement plan for evaluating transmit diversity in the DVB network. Transmit diversity reduces the complexity and improves the power consumption of the personal receiving devices by improving the transmission of signals in NLOS cluttered environments. Also, it is more practical than receive diversity due to the difficulty of locating two receive antennas far enough apart in a small mobile device. Test service scenarios were developed to illustrate the benefits of such technologies so that effectiveness can be researched in a variety of service and terrain scenarios using purpose built test systems. The laboratory tests were designed to validate the theoretical measurements from the theoretical analysis and these results will be verified by a field measurement campaign in short and long time spans
Focus on the origin of matter
The origin of matter in the Universe is a fascinating cosmological puzzle that has triggered a formidable intellectual enterprise, started in 1967 with the prescient paper by Andrej Sakharov (1967 Pisma Zh. Eksp. Teor. Fiz. 5 32; 1967 JETP Lett. 52 4; 1991 Sov. Phys.—Usp. 34 392; 1991 Usp. Fiz. Nauk 161 61) aimed at relating a cosmological observation to the fundamental laws of physics, the goal of baryogenesis. A successful model of baryogenesis should ultimately identify the required source of charge parity violation and the origin of the cosmological matter–antimatter asymmetry. This focus issue is not only a review of the main ideas that have been proposed in baryogenesis but should also bear witness to the great vitality of the field and to show how future experimental results could bring a breakthrough in baryogenesis during the coming years. For this reason we selected, out of the multitude of proposed baryogenesis models, those that will more likely experience a significant experimental test during the coming years

Transmit diversity reduces the complexity and improves the power consumption of the personal receiving devices by enhancing the transmission of signals in NLOS cluttered environments. It is more practical than receive diversity due to the difficulty of locating two receive antennas far enough apart in a small mobile device. The on-channel repeater is to extend the coverage of the DVB-T/H network in areas where services are inaccessible by receiving the DVB-T/H signals off air, amplifying and then retransmitting it on the same frequency as received. Test service scenarios were developed to illustrate the benefits of such technologies so that effectiveness can be researched in a variety of service and terrain scenarios using purpose built test systems.The work presented in this paper was supported by the European Commission IST project PLUTO

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of Transmit Delay Diversity (DD) with two antennas to improve the reception of DVB-T/H systems operating in different realistic propagation conditions through a series of tests using a SPIRENT SR5500 dual channel emulator. The relationship between correlation coefficient between channels, receiver velocity and diversity gain is nvestigated. It is shown that transmit delay diversity significantly improves the quality of reception particularly in simulated fast fading mobile broadcasting applications. Skeletal, dental and profilometric effects of Sabbagh Universal Spring 2 (SUS2) in a patient at the end of growth: a case report
Introduction: Malocclusions, which present a severe skeletal component, are difficult to solve through orthodontic treatment inpatients at the end of growth and often require a combined orthodontic-surgical treatment. The mandibular propulsion appliances "no compliance" now offer new possibilities for functional orthopedic treatment in borderline cases.
Case presentation: A patient at the end of growth with a severe malocclusion (Class II Division 1), open bite with arches\u27 transversaldiscrepancy, refused the hypothesis of an orthodontic-surgical treatment, which represents the gold standard in such occlusal andskeletal problems, especially in subjects at the end of growth; consequently, a complex orthopedic-orthodontic treatment was chosen as the second choice. The patient has been successfully treated also through the use of SUS2 (Sabbagh Universal Spring 2; Dentaurum, Ispringen, Germany), a "no compliance" fixed functional appliance, which carried out a significant sagittal correction.
Conclusion: The case report especially highlights the important sagittal correction obtained through the use of SUS2. The SUS2 had a functional outcome, which resulted in the maxillary growth stop and an effective sagittal mandibular growth increase. The SUS2effects, enhanced by elastics biomechanics, led to the bite closure and at the achievement of Class I occlusion
Step-by-step implementation of BIM-LCA: A case study analysis associating defined construction phases with their respective environmental impacts
Building Information Modelling (BIM) supports construction processes by dealing with the variety and complexity of design in a single virtual model. The model may also be complemented by the static and energy performance of buildings. Facing the growing demand of sustainability strategies in the construction sector, the consideration of environmental information within the planning process influences the decision making of planners and stakeholders. Nevertheless, the life cycle assessment of buildings has been so far excluded in BIM, due to the high variety of accurate information and time required. In this paper, a systematic framework is presented and applied to a case study. BIM-LCA assists actors along the planning and designing phase, from the building conception as a whole, up to the elements\u27 details and materials\u27 definition. BIM and LCA intertwine in an application scheme of seven phases for integral planning and four levels of structural composition of a building. With respect to these, involved actors examine potential solutions through a tool which exploits alternative specifications in order to assess the environmental impacts. The goal of this paper is to demonstrate the application of a BIM-LCA model regarding decision making for reliable values of environmental impact in a given structural level of the building. The main findings of this framework are due to the multitude of actors and information orchestrated, namely to uncertainties which characterize the whole planning process and data handling.
