    Efecto de la hormona de crecimiento sobre los parámetros seminales, el hemograma parcial y el nivel de testosterona en búfalos Nili Ravi

    The purpose of this trial was to examine the possible effects of exogenous growth hormone (GH) on semen quality, hematological variables and serum testosterone concentration in Nili Ravi buffalo. Bulls of the treatment group (n=3) were injected with recombinant GH 500 mg in a 15 day interval for 10 consecutive weeks, while bulls of control group (n=3) received equal volume of normal saline solution. Semen samples were collected twice per week and analyzed for physiological parameters. Blood samples collected fortnightly were analyzed for red blood cells count (RBC), hemoglobin concentration (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), white blood cell (WBC), neutrophils, lymphocytes, and serum testosterone levels. Data were analyzed statistically using t-test. Results indicated that GH treatment of Nili-Ravi buffaloes significantly (p<0.05) increased ejaculatory volume (8.8±0.2 vs 7.7±0.2 ml), sperm motility (72.6±0.4 vs 67.4±0.7%), mass activity (3.35±0.07 vs 2.52±0.08), sperm concentration (982.2±67.8 vs 731.9±50.5 million/ml), live sperm (80.1±0.3 vs 75.8±0.5%) and serum testosterone (4.02±0.21 vs 2.37±0.07 ng/ml) compared to control bulls. Among hematological variables, lymphocytes were increased (p<0.05), but MCV, WBC count, and neutrophils decreased (p<0.05). Hb, RBC and PCV remained unchanged. However, values of these variables were within normal ranges for buffalo bulls. In conclusion, treatment of Nili-Ravi bulls with GH improved semen quality and increased serum testosterone without ostensible adverse effects on the general state.El propósito de este ensayo fue examinar los posibles efectos de la hormona de crecimiento exógena (GH) sobre la calidad del semen, algunas variables del hemograma y la concentración de testosterona en suero de toros bubalinos Nili Ravi. Los búfalos del grupo tratado (n=3) fueron inyectados con 500 mg de somatotropina recombinante cada 15 días durante 10 semanas consecutivas, mientras que los del grupo control (n=3) recibieron igual volumen de solución fisiológica salina. Las muestras de semen fueron tomadas dos veces por semana y analizadas para evaluar los parámetros fisiológicos. Las muestras de sangre colectadas quincenalmente fueron analizadas para establecer el recuento de glóbulos rojos, la  concentración de hemoglobina, el hematocrito, el volumen corpuscular medio (MCV), recuento de glóbulos blancos (WBC), tasa de neutrófilos y linfocitos, así como los niveles séricos de testosterona. Los datos obtenidos fueron analizados estadísticamente por medio del test-t de Student. Los resultados indicaron que el tratamiento con somatotropina aumentó significativamente (p<0,05) el volumen eyaculado (8,8±0,2 versus 7,7±0,2 ml), la motilidad del semen (72,6±0,4 versus 67,4±0,7%), la actividad de masa (3,35±0,07 versus 2,52±0,08), la concentración de espermatozoides (982,2±67,8 versus 731,9±50,5 millones/ml), los espermatozoides vivos (80,1±0,3 versus 75,8±0,5%) y el nivel de testosterona sérica (4,02±0,21 versus 2,37±0,07 ng/ml), comparados con los animales controles. En el hemograma aumentaron los linfocitos (p<0,05) y disminuyeron variables como volumen corpuscular medio, recuento de leucocitos y tasa de neutrófilos (p<0,05). Hemoglobina, concentración de eritrocitos y hematocrito permanecieron inalterados. Todos los parámetros investigados se situaron dentro de los rangos normales para toros bubalinos. En conclusión, el tratamiento de búfalos Nili-Ravi con somatotropina mejoró la calidad del semen y aumentó la testosterona sérica, sin provocar ostensibles efectos adversos en el estado general de los toro

    A Novel Stochastic Learning Automata Based SON Interference Mitigation Framework for 5G HetNets

    Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) Heterogeneous Networks (HetNet) are an important aspect of 5th generation mobile communication systems. They consists of high power macrocells along with low power cells i.e. picocells and femtocells to fill up macrocell coverage gaps. HetNet permit deployment of femtocells by users for added flexibility, but then interference issues between neighbouring cells have to be addressed as all femtocells use the same frequency channels for transmission. To mitigate this problem, LTE-A standard offers two new features, one is carrier aggregation in which Component Carriers (CC) form the basic aggregate units shared among cells and the other is enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Co-ordination (eICIC) through X2 interface. The physical implementation of these features is left open to research. This paper investigates two distinct techniques for orthogonal CC selection through Stochastic Cellular Learning Automata (SCLA) to improve the QoS performance of a femtocell. The first, technique uses SCLA with user feedback, and the second technique uses SCLA with a central publishing server where all cells upload their past used CC vectors. SCLA methods are better suited for Self Organizing Network (SON) as they do not require synchronized cell coordination, have low complexity and have good optimization characteristics. The simulation results show that the techniques enhance the cell edge performance considerably

    Magnetic structure of the swedenborgite compound CaBaMn2 Fe 2 O7 derived by powder neutron diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy

    We present a study combining neutron diffraction and 57 Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy on a powder sample ofCaBaMn 2 Fe 2 O7 belonging to the large family of swedenborgite compounds. The undistorted hexagonal crystal structure (space group P63mc) is preserved down to low temperatures, and all employed techniques reveal a transition into a magnetically long-range ordered phase at TN = 205 K. The magnetic Bragg peak intensities from the powder diffraction patterns together with a symmetry analysis of the employed models unambiguously reveal the classical √3 × √3 magnetic structure on a hexagonal lattice with propagation vector q = ( 1/3 1/3 0). The nuclear Bragg peak intensities allowed the statistical distribution of Fe and Mn ions on both trigonal and kagome sites of the complex swedenborgite structure to be analyzed which was considered to explain the complex shape of the Mössbauer spectra

    Diagnosis of Faulty Sensors in Antenna Array using Hybrid Differential Evolution based Compressed Sensing Technique

    In this work, differential evolution based compressive sensing technique for detection of faulty sensors in linear arrays has been presented. This algorithm starts from taking the linear measurements of the power pattern generated by the array under test. The difference between the collected compressive measurements and measured healthy array field pattern is minimized using a hybrid differential evolution (DE). In the proposed method, the slow convergence of DE based compressed sensing technique is accelerated with the help of parallel coordinate decent algorithm (PCD). The combination of DE with PCD makes the  minimization faster and precise. Simulation results validate the performance to detect faulty sensors from a small number of measurements

    Calculation of Electric Field Distribution at High Voltage Cable Terminations

    High Voltage cables are used for transmission and distribution of electrical power. Such cables are subjected to extensive high voltage testing for performance evaluation and quality control purposes. During such testing, the cable ends have to be prepared carefully to make a proper end termination. Usually deionized water terminations are used for testing XLPE cables. Alternatively conductive paint is used to prepare such a termination. This paper presents an analytical method of calculating the voltage distribution across such a resistive termination when subjected to AC voltage stress. The proposed method is used to determine the effect of different design parameters on voltage and stress distribution on such cable ends. The method is simple and can be used to understand the importance of stress control at a cable termination which constitutes a critical part of such cables.    Keywords: AC voltage distribution, cable terminations, resistive terminations, stress control, XLPE high  voltage cable

    Incommensurate magnetic fluctuations and Fermi surface topology in LiFeAs

    Using the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) data accumulated over the whole Brillouin zone (BZ) in LiFeAs we analyze the itinerant component of the dynamic spin susceptibility in this system in the normal and superconducting state. We identify the origin of the incommensurate magnetic inelastic neutron scattering (INS) intensity as scattering between the electron pockets, centered around the (π,π)(\pi,\pi) point of the BZ and the large two-dimensional hole pocket, centered around the Γ\Gamma-point of the BZ. As the magnitude of the superconducting gap within the large hole pocket is relatively small and angle dependent, we interpret the INS data in the superconducting state as a renormalization of the particle-hole continuum rather than a true spin exciton. Our comparison indicates that the INS data can be reasonably well described by both the sign changing symmetry of the superconducting gap between electron and hole pockets as well as sign preserving gap, depending on the assumptions made for the fermionic damping.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure

    CO-INOCULATION WITH RHIZOBIUM AND BACILLUS SP TO IMPROVE THE PHOSPHORUS AVAILABILITY AND YIELD OF WHEAT (Triticum aestivum L.)

    ABSTRACT Intensive cropping has resulted-in wide spread deficiency of nutrients in most of the soils and situation is becoming more serious because of a increase in the use of high priced chemical fertilizers and their negative influence on the environment. Exploitation of biological intervention mainly phosphate solublizing bacteria (PSB) has attracted great attention, as they have enormous potential in providing soil phosphorus for plant growth, by increasing the availability of accumulated phosphate through solubilization. A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of Rhizobium and Bacillus, alone and in combination on the yield parameters of wheat. Uniform dose of N and K (160 and 60 kg ha ), grain protein (11.84%) and 1000 grain weight (62 g) were higher in co-inoculation of Rhizobium and Bacillus. It was also recorded that coinoculation of Rhizobium and Bacillus improved the grain yield up to 17.5% as compared to control. In single inoculation Bacillus gave better result and showed an increase of 7.7% in grain yield. Phosphorus uptake by grains (25.29 kg ha -1 ) was maximized by co-inoculation followed by Bacillus inoculation. Available phosphorus in post harvest sample of soil was recorded (16.27 mg kg -1 ) which was significantly higher than all other treatments. Results clearly demonstrated that co-inoculation of Rhizobium and Bacillus sp enhanced the availability of phosphorus and exert positive effect on the growth and yield of crop

    Vanadium is a hard, silver-grey transition metal found in at least 60 minerals and fossil fuel deposits. Its oxide and other vanadium salts are toxic to humans, but the toxic effects depend on the vanadium form, dose, exposure duration, and route of intoxication. Vanadium is used by some life forms as an active center in enzymes, such as the vanadium bromoperoxidase of ocean algae and nitrogenases of bacteria. The structure and biochemistry of vanadate resemble those of phosphate, hence vanadate can be regarded as a phosphate competitor in a variety of biochemical enzymes such as kinases and phosphatases. In this review, we describe the biochemical pathways regulated by vanadium compounds and their potential therapeutic benefits for a range of disorders including type 2 diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and microbial pathology

    Magnetic Properties of Ab initio Model for Iron-Based Superconductors LaFeAsO

    By using variational Monte Carlo method, we examine an effective low-energy model for LaFeAsO derived from an ab initio downfolding scheme. We show that quantum and many-body fluctuations near a quantum critical point largely reduce the antiferromagnetic (AF) ordered moment and the model not only quantitatively reproduces the small ordered moment in LaFeAsO, but also explains the diverse dependence on LaFePO, BaFe2As2 and FeTe. We also find that LaFeAsO is under large orbital fluctuations, sandwiched by the AF Mott insulator and weakly correlated metals. The orbital fluctuations and Dirac-cone dispersion hold keys for the diverse magnetic properties.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
