Hamilton-Jacobi theory in multisymplectic classical field theories

    Get PDF
The geometric framework for the Hamilton-Jacobi theory developed in previous works is extended for multisymplectic first-order classical field theories. The Hamilton-Jacobi problem is stated for the Lagrangian and the Hamiltonian formalisms of these theories as a particular case of a more general problem, and the classical Hamilton-Jacobi equation for field theories is recovered from this geometrical setting. Particular and complete solutions to these problems are defined and characterized in several equivalent ways in both formalisms, and the equivalence between them is proved. The use of distributions in jet bundles that represent the solutions to the field equations is the fundamental tool in this formulation. Some examples are analyzed and, in particular, the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for non-autonomous mechanical systems is obtained as a special case of our results.Comment: 44 p

The initial-final mass relationship of white dwarfs in common proper motion pairs

    Get PDF
A promising approach to decrease the uncertainties in the initial-final mass relationship, which is still poorly constrained, is to study white dwarfs for which external constraints are available, for instance, white dwarfs in common proper motion pairs (CPMPs). Important information of the white dwarf can be inferred from the study of the companion, since they were born at the same time and with the same initial chemical composition. In this contribution, we report new results obtained from spectroscopic observations of both members of several CPMPs composed of a F, G or K type star and a DA white dwarf

A refined sub-grid model for black hole accretion and AGN feedback in large cosmological simulations

In large scale cosmological hydrodynamic simulations simplified sub-grid models for gas accretion onto black holes and AGN feedback are commonly used. Such models typically depend on various free parameters, which are not well constrained. We present a new advanced model containing a more detailed description of AGN feedback, where those parameters reflect the results of recent observations. The model takes the dependency of these parameters on the black hole properties into account and describes a continuous transition between the feedback processes acting in the so-called radio-mode and quasar-mode. In addition, we implement a more detailed description of the accretion of gas onto black holes by distinguishing between hot and cold gas accretion. Our new implementations prevent black holes from gaining too much mass, particularly at low redshifts so that our simulations are now very successful in reproducing the observed present-day black hole mass function. Our new model also suppresses star formation in massive galaxies slightly more efficiently than many state-of-the-art models. Therefore, the simulations that include our new implementations produce a more realistic population of quiescent and star-forming galaxies compared to recent observations, even if some discrepancies remain. In addition, the baryon conversion efficiencies in our simulation are - except for the high mass end - consistent with observations presented in literature over the mass range resolved by our simulations. Finally, we discuss the significant impact of the feedback model on the low-luminous end of the AGN luminosity function.Comment: 25 pages, 19 figures. MNRAS accepted. G4.5 Pamam Dendrimer-Risperidone: Biodistribution and Behavioral Changes in In Vivo Model

    Get PDF
Dendritic polymers are considered as emerging and outstanding carriers as modern medicinal systems due to their derivatisable branched architecture and possibility to modify them in numerous ways. Here, G4.5 PAMAM dendrimers were obtained as carriers of the antipsychotic drug risperidone. Despite their extensive applicability in the pharmaceutical field, the use of dendrimers as carriers in biological systems is constrained due to their inherent associated toxicity. The biocompatibility of dendrimers and dendrimer-risperidone complexes was evaluated in vivo for biological performance. To this end, the pharmacokinetics and biodistribution after oral treatment of free risperidone and dendrimer-risperidone complexes were studied in healthy mice. Also, the behavioral changes such as locomotion, aggression, dominance in male and female mice were evaluated both after a single dose and after daily therapy for 8 days. Also, in vivo effects of risperidone and dendrimer-risperidone complexes on the locomotion of zebrafish larvae were explored. The data obtained suggest that the unmetabolized risperidone complexes increase the arrival to the brain after 90 minutes. On the other hand, behavioral studies showed an increase in the potency of the drug in animals treated with the complexesFil: Prieto, Maria Jimena. Universidad Nacional de Quilmes. An Incremental and Model Driven Approach for the Dynamic Reconfiguration of Cloud Application Architectures

    Get PDF
In incremental development approaches, the integration of new services into the actual cloud application may trigger the dynamic reconfiguration of the cloud application architecture, thus changing its structure and behavior at runtime. This paper presents a model driven approach that uses the specification of how the integration of new services will change the current cloud application architecture to obtain: i) the orchestration of services, ii) skeletons of interface implementations, and iii) the operationalization of reconfiguration actions to be applied at runtime. This approach follows the DIARy-process, which defines the activities needed to reconfigure dynamically the architecture of cloud services. The feasibility of the approach is illustrated by means of a case study that uses Microsoft Azure© as a service deployment platform. WCF Workflow services are generated and deployed for orchestration, whereas XML transformation files are generated to update services’ binding configurations at runtim

Ideal structures in vector-valued polynomial spaces

    Get PDF
This paper is concerned with the study of geometric structures in spaces of polynomials. More precisely, we discuss for E and F Banach spaces, whether the class of n-homogeneous polynomials, 'P-w((n) E, F), which are weakly continuous on bounded sets, is an HB-subspace or an M(1, C)-ideal in the space of continuous n-homogeneous polynomials, P((n) E, F). We establish sufficient conditions under which the problem can be positively solved. Some examples are given. We also study when some ideal structures pass from P-w((n) E, F) as an ideal in P((n) E, F) to the range space F as an ideal in its bidual F**

Influencia de varias formulaciones de suavizantes sobre las propiedades impartidas al algodón por un acabado de fácil cuidado

    Get PDF
A softener is usually added in formulations with resins, in order to improve the fabric’s feel. This paper determines the influence of several softeners of various chemical compositions applied in a formulation of easy-care finish with a formaldehyde-free reactant resin according to the following parameters: dimensional stability, noncrease effect, tensile strength, resistance to abrasion, wettability, bending rigidity and chloride retention. From the finishes obtained we can deduce that there is no optimum softener formula for all parameters studied. However, it is possible to establish priorities for the effects of the softener according to the parameters considered most important for the final use the textile product.
