Relativistic velocity addition from the geometry of momentum space

With the goal of developing didactic tools, we consider the geometrization of the addition of velocities in special relativity by using Minkowski diagrams in momentum space. For the case of collinear velocities, we describe three ruler-and-compass constructions that provide simple graphical solutions working with the mass-shell hyperbola in a 1 + 1-dimensional energy–momentum plane. In the spirit of dimensional scaffolding, we use those results to build a generalization in 1 + 2 dimensions for the case of non-collinear velocities, providing in particular a graphical illustration of how the velocity transverse to a boost changes while the momentum remains fixed. We supplement the discussion with a number of interactive applets that implement the diagrammatic constructions and constitute a visual tool that should be useful for students to improve their understanding of the subtleties of special relativityAgencia Estatal de Investigación | Ref. E-grocery retailing: from value proposition to logistics strategy

This paper develops two frameworks that identify and organise the elements that make up the value proposition and the logistics strategy of grocery pure players. Those frameworks are also applied to see how the elements of both frameworks are related. To identify the key elements and design characteristics, an extensive literature review was conducted. In addition, an exploratory study with five grocery pure players helped connect both frameworks. The value proposition can be classified into ten elements (range, virtual store, order features, area of delivery, sales mode, velocity, time slots, substitutions, returns, and extra services) and the logistics strategy in twelve (warehousing, inventory, procurement, picking, packing, stock out, transport type, transport ownership, consolidation, dispatch time slots, routing, and returned inventory). La doble imposición internacional: España-Noruega

En el presente trabajo fin de grado vamos a tratar de conocer en profundidad, en una primera instancia, qué trata la doble imposición internacional, cuáles son sus causas y las consecuencias que supone encontrarse en esta situación. Además, con estos mecanismos destinados a tratar de eliminar la doble imposición internacional, trataremos de definir los métodos de exención y métodos de imputación, cómo se aplican y cuáles son los efectos y consecuencias por la aplicación de dichos métodos. Una vez definidos la doble imposición internacional y los instrumentos para eliminarla, en este trabajo fin de grado vamos a conocer cuál es el modelo de tributación para las rentas de personas físicas en Noruega para ello vamos a realizar una breve descripción de los puntos clave de la normativa noruega, exponiendo sus puntos clave, así como realizar una comparación el modelo español. Además, realizar una serie de recomendaciones en las que el actual modelo español podría adoptar medidas propias del modelo noruego, con el fin de mejorar nuestro actual sistema tributario español. Finalmente se realizará una serie de supuestos teórico-práctico, los supuestos tratarán de problemáticas que podemos encontrar en el convenio de doble imposición, con el objetivo de la realización de estos supuestos se tratará de adecuar a la más alta realidad, estudiando la situación se tratará de resolver en que país deberá el contribuyente de tributar, así como el importe. Es muy importante tratar de resolver esta problemática de la doble imposición internacional ya que, aunque es una situación controvertida. en algunas ocasiones para los contribuyentes, es inevitable en un entorno económico cada vez más globalizado y caracterizado por la libre circulación de personas y capitales entre los países

15 años de alfabetización en información: investigación internacional recogida en LISA, ERIC y SSCI entre 1990 y 2005

Se presenta el alcance de la investigación internacional en Alfabetización en Información (ALFIN)entre los años 1990 y 2005 a partir del análisis de las publicaciones recogidas en tres de las principales bases de datos internacionales que cubren el tema: LISA, ERIC y SSCI. Se ha analizado la actividad investigadora del periodo, la tipología documental, idioma, autores más productivos y revistas más utilizadas. Por otro lado, y a través de una metodología de análisis de contenido, se han categorizado los trabajos de los diez autores más productivos, encontrando en ellos la progresión temática lógica de un área en desarrollo. CTCF orchestrates the germinal centre transcriptional program and prevents premature plasma cell differentiation

In germinal centres (GC) mature B cells undergo intense proliferation and immunoglobulin gene modification before they differentiate into memory B cells or long-lived plasma cells (PC). GC B-cell-to-PC transition involves a major transcriptional switch that promotes a halt in cell proliferation and the production of secreted immunoglobulins. Here we show that the CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) is required for the GC reaction in vivo, whereas in vitro the requirement for CTCF is not universal and instead depends on the pathways used for B-cell activation. CTCF maintains the GC transcriptional programme, allows a high proliferation rate, and represses the expression of Blimp-1, the master regulator of PC differentiation. Restoration of Blimp-1 levels partially rescues the proliferation defect of CTCF-deficient B cells. Thus, our data reveal an essential function of CTCF in maintaining the GC transcriptional programme and preventing premature PC differentiation

Incorporating Data Literacy into Information Literacy Programs: Core Competencies and Contents

The growing importance of data in society in general and scientific domains in particular, mirrored in the Open Data initiative and in the advent of eScience, requires public, school and academic libraries to contribute to both data and information literacy, as part of their mission to further knowledge and innovation in their respective fields of action. No specific library standards have been proposed to date, however, and most research studies conducted adopt a partial view of data literacy, stressing only the components needed in any given context. The present paper aims to contribute to the advancement of data literacy with the proposal of a set of core competencies and contents that can serve as a framework of reference for its inclusion in libraries' information literacy programs. The various definitions of data literacy are discussed, the coverage of the competencies listed in information literacy standards is described, and the competencies considered in the experiments conducted to date in education and libraries are identified. The conclusion drawn is that the model proposed can favour the development of data literacy support resources and services. Topics for further research are also specified
