The school is an institution created to educate. However, we could declare, without fear of being wrong, that it does not fulfill its purpose. The same happens with the hospital, created to cure, or the prison, to correct. We could continue arguing in the same way, if we think of the church, the factory or the government as places of useful decisions for society. In all of them there is something missing, and that something can be the equality that two human beings establish when they use their voice to engage in communication. This article refers to the importance of the enlightened voice that is heard, and the role that art plays so we can express ourselves. In the communion that occurs between human beings who speak their voice, the hospital, the school, the prison become places where the human being can find a path for a just and creative life.La escuela es una institución creada para educar. Sin embargo podríamos afirmar, sin temor a equivocarnos, que no cumple con su cometido. Lo mismo ocurre con el hospital, creado para curar, o la cárcel, para corregir. Podríamos seguir argumentando en forma igual si pensamos en la iglesia, en la fábrica o en el palacio de gobierno como lugares de decisiones útiles para la sociedad. En todas ellas hay algo que falta, y ese algo puede ser la igualdad que establecen dos seres humanos cuando utilizan su voz para hermanarse en la comunicación. Cooperative Carbon Dioxide Adsorption in Alcoholamine- and Alkoxyalkylamine-Functionalized Metal-Organic Frameworks.
A series of structurally diverse alcoholamine- and alkoxyalkylamine-functionalized variants of the metal-organic framework Mg2 (dobpdc) are shown to adsorb CO2 selectively via cooperative chain-forming mechanisms. Solid-state NMR spectra and optimized structures obtained from van der Waals-corrected density functional theory calculations indicate that the adsorption profiles can be attributed to the formation of carbamic acid or ammonium carbamate chains that are stabilized by hydrogen bonding interactions within the framework pores. These findings significantly expand the scope of chemical functionalities that can be utilized to design cooperative CO2 adsorbents, providing further means of optimizing these powerful materials for energy-efficient CO2 separations
Exploring discordant low amyloid beta and high neocortical tau positron emission tomography cases
Introduction: Neocortical 3R4R (3-repeat/4-repeat) tau aggregates are rarely observed in the absence of amyloid beta (Aβ). 18F-MK6240 binds specifically to the 3R4R form of tau that is characteristic of Alzheimer\u27s disease (AD). We report four cases with negative Aβ, but positive tau positron emission tomography (PET) findings. Methods: All Australian Imaging, Biomarkers and Lifestyle study of aging (AIBL) study participants with Aβ (18F-NAV4694) and tau (18F-MK6240) PET scans were included. Centiloid \u3c 25 defined negative Aβ PET (Aβ–). The presence of neocortical tau was defined quantitatively and visually. Results: Aβ– PET was observed in 276 participants. Four of these participants (one cognitively unimpaired [CU], two mild cognitive impairment [MCI], one AD) had tau tracer retention in a pattern consistent with Braak tau stages V to VI. Fluid biomarkers supported a diagnosis of AD. In silico analysis of APP, PSEN1, PSEN2, and MAPT genes did not identify relevant functional mutations. Discussion: Discordant cases were infrequent (1.4% of all Aβ– participants). In these cases, the Aβ PET ligand may not be detecting the Aβ that is present
Quantitative Chemically-Specific Coherent Diffractive Imaging of Buried Interfaces using a Tabletop EUV Nanoscope
Characterizing buried layers and interfaces is critical for a host of
applications in nanoscience and nano-manufacturing. Here we demonstrate
non-invasive, non-destructive imaging of buried interfaces using a tabletop,
extreme ultraviolet (EUV), coherent diffractive imaging (CDI) nanoscope. Copper
nanostructures inlaid in SiO2 are coated with 100 nm of aluminum, which is
opaque to visible light and thick enough that neither optical microscopy nor
atomic force microscopy can image the buried interfaces. Short wavelength (29
nm) high harmonic light can penetrate the aluminum layer, yielding
high-contrast images of the buried structures. Moreover, differences in the
absolute reflectivity of the interfaces before and after coating reveal the
formation of interstitial diffusion and oxidation layers at the Al-Cu and
Al-SiO2 boundaries. Finally, we show that EUV CDI provides a unique capability
for quantitative, chemically-specific imaging of buried structures, and the
material evolution that occurs at these buried interfaces, compared with all

Comparing Detection Methods for Software Requirements Inspections: A Replicated Experiment

LightBox: Full-stack Protected Stateful Middlebox at Lightning Speed
Running off-site software middleboxes at third-party service providers has
been a popular practice. However, routing large volumes of raw traffic, which
may carry sensitive information, to a remote site for processing raises severe
security concerns. Prior solutions often abstract away important factors
pertinent to real-world deployment. In particular, they overlook the
significance of metadata protection and stateful processing. Unprotected
traffic metadata like low-level headers, size and count, can be exploited to
learn supposedly encrypted application contents. Meanwhile, tracking the states
of 100,000s of flows concurrently is often indispensable in production-level
middleboxes deployed at real networks.
We present LightBox, the first system that can drive off-site middleboxes at
near-native speed with stateful processing and the most comprehensive
protection to date. Built upon commodity trusted hardware, Intel SGX, LightBox
is the product of our systematic investigation of how to overcome the inherent
limitations of secure enclaves using domain knowledge and customization. First,
we introduce an elegant virtual network interface that allows convenient access
to fully protected packets at line rate without leaving the enclave, as if from
the trusted source network. Second, we provide complete flow state management
for efficient stateful processing, by tailoring a set of data structures and
algorithms optimized for the highly constrained enclave space. Extensive
evaluations demonstrate that LightBox, with all security benefits, can achieve
10Gbps packet I/O, and that with case studies on three stateful middleboxes, it

Soliton modes, stability, and drift in optical lattices with spatially modulated nonlinearity
We put forward new properties of lattice solitons in materials and geometries
where both, the linear refractive index and the nonlinearity are spatially
modulated. We show that the interplay between linear and out-of-phase nonlinear
refractive index modulations results in new soliton properties, including
modifications of the soliton stability and transverse mobility, as well as
shape transformations that may be controlled, e.g., by varying the light

Banning the bulb: institutional evolution and the phased ban of incandescent lighting in Germany
Much academic attention has been directed at analysing energy efficiency investments through the lens of ‘behavioural failure’. These studies have challenged the neoclassical framing of regulation which emphasises the efficiency benefits of price based policy, underpinned by the notion of rational individual self-mastery. The increasing use of a regulatory ban on electric lamps in many countries is one of the most recent and high profile flash points in this dialectic of ‘freedom-versus-the-state’ in the public policy discourse. This paper interrogates this debate through a study of electric lamp diffusion in Germany. It is argued that neoclassical theory and equilibrium analysis is inadequate as a tool for policy analysis as it takes the formation of market institutions, such as existing regulations, for granted. Further still, it may be prone to encourage idealistic debates around such grand narratives which may in practice simply serve those who benefit most from the status quo. Instead we argue for an evolutionary approach which we suggest offers a more pragmatic framing tool which focuses on the formation of market institutions in light of shifting social norms and political goals—in our case, progress towards energy efficiency and environmental goals
