Mission Control Concepts for Robotic Operations: Existing approaches and new Solutions
This paper gives a preliminary overview on activities
within the currently ongoing Mission Control Concepts
for Robotic Operations (MICCRO) study.
The aim of the MICCRO study is to reveal commonalities
in the operations of past, current and future robotic
space missions in order to find an abstract, representative
mission control concept applicable to multiple future
missions with robotic systems involved. The existing
operational concepts, responsibilities and information
flows during the different mission phases are taken into
account.
A particular emphasis is put on the possible interaction
between different autonomous components (on-board
and on-ground), their synchronisation and the possible
shift of autonomy borders during different mission
phases
Anisotrope elliptische partielle Differentialgleichungen
Psychological characteristics of developing excellence in mixed martial arts athletes
8th IMACSSS International Conference Abstracts, Viseu (Portugal), October 10-12, 2019
Type: Oral communicationThe aim of this study was to describe the perception of sports talent and excellence development in a sample of MMA fighters, and compare the obtained results with those of previous studies. A total of 42 adult (male and female) MMA athletes of several levels (amateur, semi-professional and professional) participated in the study. A socio-demographic questionnaire and the Psychological Characteristics of Developing Excellence Questionnaire – PCDEQ were used for collecting data. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics and student’s t-test for means comparison. In general, MMA athletes obtained higher scores than those reported by samples of other sports in previous studies, and more specifically in factors I - Support for long-term success, II - Imagery use during practice and competition, and IV - Ability to organise and engage in quality practice. This can be explained due to the higher average age of our sample and the professional or semi-professional level already achieved by many of the MMA fighters. The study also revealed that MMA fighters may need specific psychological training related to factor III - Coping with performance and developmental pressures
Problems of application of measurement system analysis (MSA) in metallurgical production
This paper lists the most fundamental problems related to the application of measurement system analysis (MSA) in
metallurgical production and outlines ways of solving them. Based on the real measurements it was found, that the
width of the confidence interval constructed for the value of combined gage repeatability and reproducibility (GRR)
can be reduced (and thus the reliability of the GRR value can be increased) more by raising the number of trials than
by increasing the number of samples. The basic assumption for the use of analysis of variance (constant variance
and the occurrence of outliers) can be verified by using the proposed multiple box and whisker plot.Web of Science55353753
Use of quality planning methods in optimizing welding wire quality characteristics
The quality of a product is given by the extent, to which the product meets customer requirements. It is generally
accepted that the extent, to which the product meets such customer requirements, and, consequently, the resulting
quality of the product itself, substantially depend on the early stages of the product lifecycle, i.e. on the design and
development stages. Appropriate means for eff ective product quality planning can be found among quality management
methods and tools. These methods are typically employed in engineering production and automotive industry.
This paper focuses on exploring the potential of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Failure Mode and
Eff ect Analysis (FMEA) methods for use in metallurgical production, an industrial branch where they have not been
commonly employed as yet.Web of Science52453252

Cyclic behavior of masonry shear walls retrofitted with engineered cementitious composite and pseudoelastic shape memory alloy
The behavior of masonry shear walls reinforced with pseudoelastic Ni–Ti shape memory alloy (SMA) strips and engineered cementitious composite (ECC) sheets is the main focus of this paper. The walls were subjected to quasi-static cyclic in-plane loads and evaluated by using Abaqus. Eight cases of strengthening of masonry walls were investigated. Three masonry walls were strengthened with different thicknesses of ECC sheets using epoxy as adhesion, three walls were reinforced with different thicknesses of Ni–Ti strips in a cross form bonded to both the surfaces of the wall, and one was utilized as a reference wall without any reinforcing element. The final concept was a hybrid of strengthening methods in which the Ni–Ti strips were embedded in ECC sheets. The effect of mesh density on analytical outcomes is also discussed. A parameterized analysis was conducted to examine the influence of various variables such as the thickness of the Ni–Ti strips and that of ECC sheets. The results show that using the ECC sheet in combination with pseudoelastic Ni–Ti SMA strips enhances the energy absorption capacity and stiffness of masonry walls, demonstrating its efficacy as a reinforcing method
Number of distinct data categories and gage repeatability and reproducibility. A double (but single) requirement
Measurement systems analysis has been widely used in many industries, especially those related to the automotive sector as part of statistical process control practices. Over the years, new elements have been added to the initial requirements for system acceptance, centered on the values of repeatability and reproducibility (integrated in indexes as GRR and GRR%). One of these elements, the number of distinct data categories (NDC) has been treated as an independent requirement. In this paper, we show that NDC and GRR are not independent and that they are in fact both linked by an exact relationship. This therefore makes the double requirement redundant, confusing and unnecessary, except maybe to enhance some conceptual questions.Carrión García, A.; Grisales Del Rio, AM. (2013).
