Impacts of hot and cold spells differ for acute and chronic ischaemic heart diseases

BACKGROUND: Many studies have reported associations between temperature extremes and cardiovascular mortality but little has been understood about differences in the effects on acute and chronic diseases. The present study examines hot and cold spell effects on ischaemic heart disease (IHD) mortality in the Czech Republic during 1994–2009, with emphasis upon differences in the effects on acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and chronic IHD. METHODS: We use analogous definitions for hot and cold spells based on quantiles of daily average temperature anomalies, thus allowing for comparison of results for summer hot spells and winter cold spells. Daily mortality data were standardised to account for the long-term trend and the seasonal and weekly cycles. Periods when the data were affected by epidemics of influenza and other acute respiratory infections were removed from the analysis. RESULTS: Both hot and cold spells were associated with excess IHD mortality. For hot spells, chronic IHD was responsible for most IHD excess deaths in both male and female populations, and the impacts were much more pronounced in the 65+ years age group. The excess mortality from AMI was much lower compared to chronic IHD mortality during hot spells. For cold spells, by contrast, the relative excess IHD mortality was most pronounced in the younger age group (0–64 years), and we found different pattern for chronic IHD and AMI, with larger effects on AMI. CONCLUSIONS: The findings show that while excess deaths due to IHD during hot spells are mainly of persons with chronic diseases whose health had already been compromised, cardiovascular changes induced by cold stress may result in deaths from acute coronary events rather than chronic IHD, and this effect is important also in the younger population. This suggests that the most vulnerable population groups as well as the most affected cardiovascular diseases differ between hot and cold spells, which needs to be taken into account when designing and implementing preventive actions

Teoretická část obsahuje analýzu problematiky současného pojetí rodiny z hlediska sociologie a psychologie, dále pak souhrn možných problémů souvisejících s učivem o rodině, několik doporučení, jak k učivu o rodině ve škole přistupovat a rozbor přístupu k tomuto učivu v RVP ZV, třech ŠVP a třech řadách učebnic Prvouky pro 1. stupeň českých základních škol. Empirická část ukazuje pojetí výuky o rodině tak, jak ho vnímají budoucí učitelé.My diploma thesis focuses on the approach to family related curriculum at primary school. The theoretical part includes analysis of contemporary view of family in terms of psychology and sociology, summary of possible problems connected with the family related curriculum, some recommendations how to approach the family related curriculum and analysis of approach to this curriculum in FEP EE, three school education programmes and three sets of textbooks from primary education. Plethysmography for retinal video processing

Zrak je jedním z pěti lidských smyslů a je velmi důležitým pro zkoumání blízkého i vzdáleného okolí. Tomu ovšem brání různé oční vady, které mohou souviset s cévním systémem sítnice a pulzacemi, které jsou na ní pozorovatelné. Tato práce se zabývá zkoumáním souvislostí mezi zmíněnými pulzacemi a onemocnění glaukomem. Pro hledání spojitostí mezi těmito dvěma aspekty jsou použité videozáznamy ze sítnice, s jejíž pulzací je dál pracováno ve formě 1D signálu, a to především ve spektrální oblasti.Sight is one of the five human senses and is very important for exploring near and far surroundings. However, this is prevented by various eye defects, which may be related to the vascular system of the retina and the pulsations that are observable on it. This work deals with the study of the relationship between the mentioned pulsations and glaucoma. To search for connections between these two aspects, video recordings from the retina are used, the pulsation of which is further worked in the form of a 1D signal, especially in the spectral region.

Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders

V diplomové práci "Komparace metod nácviku počátečního čtení a psaní ve vztahu k rozvoji specifických poruch učení" se snažíme zjistit, zda aplikace jedné ze tří metod výuky čtení a psaní - metody analyticko-syntetické, genetické nebo Sfumato eliminuje vznik specifických poruch učení- dyslexie, dysgrafie a dysortografie. První část práce se zabývá teoretickými východisky jednotlivých metod výuky prvopočátečního čtení a psaní a vymezením specifických poruch učení. Ve druhé části práce jsou na základě výsledků dotazníkového šetření, rozhovorů a pozorování porovnávány a hodnoceny metody výuky čtení a psaní v závislosti na vznik specifických poruch učení.In diploma thesis named "Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders" we are trying to find out if the implementation of one of three methods of teaching to read and write - analytic synthetic method, genetic method or Sfumato eliminates the development of specific learning disabilities - dyslexia, disgraphia and disorthographia. The first part of work looks into theoretical outcomes of each method of teaching to read and write and defines specific learning disabilities. Thematic maps of Benešov town and its surroundings

Diplomová práce se zabývá zpracováním souboru tematických map města Benešov a jeho okolí. Textová část této práce obsahuje krátký popis mapovaného území a stručnou historii města Benešov. Přehledně popisuje tematickou kartografii, zásady tvorby tematických map i praktický postup vytváření tematických map v software ArcGIS. Kromě standardních dat jsou díky nástrojům ArcGIS zpracovány vlastní analýzy. Obrazová část této práce obsahuje čtrnáct mapových listů, které zobrazují informace o městě Benešov, jeho blízkém i vzdálenějším okolí a o lidech, kteří zde žijí.The diploma thesis deals with the thematic map set processing of the town Benešov and its surroundings. The text part contains a short description of the mapped area and a concise history of Benešov. It gives an overview of the thematic cartography, describes creating principles of thematic maps and a practical creation process in the software ArcGIS. Besides standard data, there are also processed other analysis in ArcGIS. The following picture part of this thesis contains fourteen map sheets showing information about Benešov, its near and distant surroundings and about the people who live there
