Objectives: Free radicals play an important role in the onset and progression of many diseases. The aim ofthis study was to investigate the contribution of oxidative stress in the pathology of aggressive (AgP) andchronic (CP) periodontitis and its relation with the clinical periodontal status. Methods: Eighty subjects were divided into two groups: 20 patients with AgP and 20 patients with CP withtheir 20 corresponding matched controls, based on clinical attachment loss (CAL), probing pocket depth(PPD), and bleeding on probing (BOP). Saliva reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation, and nonenzymaticantioxidant defences were measured by luminol-dependent chemiluminescence assay, asthiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARs) and total radical-trapping antioxidant potential (TRAP),respectively. Pearson?s correlation and multivariate analysis were used to determine the relationshipbetween ROS and TBARs and the clinical parameters. Results: ROS and TBARs were increased in AgP while TRAP was decreased, comparing with CP. In AgP, astrong and positive correlation was observed between ROS and TBARs and they were closely associatedwith CAL and PPD.Discussion: In AgP, but not in CP, oxidative stress is a high contributor to periodontal pathology and it isclosely associated with the clinical periodontal status.Fil: Acquier, Andrea Beatriz. AbstractThe inter- and seasonal patterns of water vapor and canopy carbon fluxes were compared for four forest ecosystems in two contrasting climatic zones in Europe. The eddy covariance and ancillary data were taken from the Carboeurope and FLUXNET databases and a linear modeling statistical analysis was made. The four sites were a high-density poplar (Populus spp.) short rotation coppice plantation (in Lochristi, Belgium) and a mature Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) forest (in Brasschaat, Belgium) in the Temperate climate versus a fast-growing Eucalypt (Eucalyptus) plantation (in Espirra, Portugal) and a Holm oak (Quercus ilex) forest (in Puechabon, France) in the Mediterranean climate.•The Eucalypt stand showed an efficient stomatal control in response to changes in vapor pressure deficit (VPD), suggesting an ideal adaptation of this species to the severe Mediterranean climate.•The fast-growing poplar stand did not show a similar stomatal control under conditions of moderate water stress. But during an intensive dry period a decrease in the development of the leaf area index (LAI) was observed.•The Holm oak stand showed a low GPP, which is typical for a low productive species with a long rotation cycle. The GPP showed low diurnal variability, even under high solar radiation. This behavior suggested a strong stomatal control caused by the severe water stress, a mechanism that allowed this stand to cope with diurnal and seasonal water deficits.•The mature Scots pine forest in the Temperate climate showed no variation in the GPP – radiation relationship. In this forest no water stress was observed, probably because the trees always had access to the water table. Irrespective of the climate the evapotranspiration of the Scots pine forest presented a tight coupling with the atmosphere, i.e. a low decoupling factor, Ω, comparable with the Holm oak and the Eucalypt forests. The high Ω values of the young poplar plantation were not typical for forest canopies. These values confirmed the strong influence of solar radiation and available energy on evapotranspiration and on the dynamics of this fast-developing canopy. At all four sites the forests showed their capacity to react to the environmental drivers, characteristic from their respective climatic types. However, drastic climatic changes – such as heat waves or long drought spells – may compromise the productivity of fast-growing plantations such as the Eucalypt and poplar stands. The response of the poplars to these events is mainly achieved through LAI control in contrast to the stomatal control in the Eucalypts

Los resultados relativizan las conclusiones aportadas por investigaciones previas sobre la influencia del perfil de tarea (Moran y Weiss, 2006)Present research try to know about task characteristics and leadership, and also explore if peer leadership is lined up to formal leader as the captain. About this variable it was tried to know how leadership culture in sport can affect. The EELD-24 (Torrado & Arce, 2015), and questions oriented to evaluate task profile, were applied to a 219 men athletes sample (132 from soccer and 87 from basketball). It was observed that type of sport determines task profile and captaincy development of peer leaders. In soccer, minus than a half of peer leaders are captains (44.2%), standing out for them more the position in the field than level of performance. In basketball, most of leaders are captains (77.1), but in them is more important level of performance than position in the team structure during the game. Results diminish the importance of previous research about influence of task profile (Moran y Weiss, 2006)A presente investigação pretende explorar a relação entre características da tarefa e a liderança, bem como conhecer se o exercício da liderança informal está alinhado com a figura formal do capitão. Publisher Copyright: © 2023 The Author(s)Adenosine-5-triphosphate (ATP) is the main energy vector in biological systems, thus its regeneration is an important issue for the application of many enzymes of interest in biocatalysis and synthetic biology. We have developed an electroenzymatic ATP regeneration system consisting in a gold electrode modified with a floating phospholipid bilayer that allows coupling the catalytic activity of two membrane-bound enzymes: NiFeSe hydrogenase from Desulfovibrio vulgaris and F1Fo-ATP synthase from Escherichia coli. Thus, H2 is used as a fuel for producing ATP. This electro-enzymatic assembly is studied as ATP regeneration system of phosphorylation reactions catalysed by kinases, such as hexokinase and NAD+-kinase for respectively producing glucose-6-phosphate and NADP+.publishersversionpublishe

    Get PDF
Fil: Bryk, Gabriel.
