    Spatiotemporal variations and risk characteristics of potential non-point source pollution driven by LUCC in the Loess Plateau Region, China

    With increasing human activities, regional substrate conditions have undergone significant changes. These changes have resulted in temporal and spatial variations of non-point source pollution sources, which has a significant impact on the quality of the regional soil, surface water, and groundwater environments. This study focused on the human-disturbed Loess Plateau region and used an enhanced potential non-point-source pollution index (PNPI) model to explore the dynamic changes of regional potential non-point-source pollution (PNP) and the associated risk due to land use and land cover change (LUCC) over the past 31 years. The Loess Plateau region is mainly composed of cultivated land, grassland and forest, which together account for 93.5% of the watershed area. From 1990 to 2020, extensive soil and water conservation measures were implemented throughout the Loess Plateau region, resulting in a significant reduction in the non-point source pollution risk. Using the quantile classification method, the study area’s PNP risk values were categorized into five distinct levels. The results revealed a polarization phenomenon of PNP risk in the region, with an increase in non-point source pollution risk in the human-influenced areas and a rapid expansion of the very high-risk area. However, the non-point source pollution risk in the upstream water source area of the watershed reduced over the study period. In recent years, the rapid urbanization of the Loess Plateau region has been the primary reason for the rapid expansion of the very high PNP risk area throughout the watershed. This study highlights the significant impact of LUCC on the dynamic changes in PNP risk within the Loess Plateau region, providing crucial insights into future conservation and urban planning policies aimed at enhancing the ecological health and environmental quality of the region

    A bibliometric analysis of myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury from 2000 to 2023

    BackgroundMyocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI) refers to the more severe damage that occurs in the previously ischemic myocardium after a short-term interruption of myocardial blood supply followed by restoration of blood flow within a certain period of time. MIRI has become a major challenge affecting the therapeutic efficacy of cardiovascular surgery.MethodsA scientific literature search on MIRI-related papers published from 2000 to 2023 in the Web of Science Core Collection database was conducted. VOSviewer was used for bibliometric analysis to understand the scientific development and research hotspots in this field.ResultsA total of 5,595 papers from 81 countries/regions, 3,840 research institutions, and 26,202 authors were included. China published the most papers, but the United States had the most significant influence. Harvard University was the leading research institution, and influential authors included Lefer David J., Hausenloy Derek J., Yellon Derek M., and others. All keywords can be divided into four different directions: risk factors, poor prognosis, mechanisms and cardioprotection.ConclusionResearch on MIRI is flourishing. It is necessary to conduct an in-depth investigation of the interaction between different mechanisms and multi-target therapy will be the focus and hotspot of MIRI research in the future

    The impact of gender-role-orientations on subjective career success: a multilevel study of 36 societies

    International audienceWe investigate the relationships between gender-role-orientation (i.e., androgynous, masculine, feminine and undifferentiated) and subjective career success among business professionals from 36 societies. Drawing on the resource management perspective, we predict that androgynous individuals will report the highest subjective career success, followed by masculine, feminine, and undifferentiated individuals. We also postulate that meso-organizational culture and macro-societal values will have moderating effects on gender role's impact on subjective career success. The results of our hierarchical linear models support the hypothesized hierarchy of the relationships between gender-role-orientations and subjective career success. However, we found that ethical achievement values at the societal culture level was the only variable that had a positive moderating impact on the relationship between feminine orientation and subjective career success. Thus, our findings of minimal moderation effect suggest that meso- and macro-level environments may not play a significant role in determining an individual's perception of career success

    Cultural and leadership predictors of corporate social responsibility values of top management: A GLOBE study of 15 countries.

    This paper examines cultural and leadership variables associated with corporate social responsibility values that managers apply to their decision-making. In this longitudinal study, we analyze data from 561 firms located in 15 countries on five continents to illustrate how the cultural dimensions of institutional collectivism and power distance predict social responsibility values on the part of top management team members.     Values Heterogeneity: An Overlooked but Important Antecedent of TMT Conflict and Effectiveness

    Demographic heterogeneity and conflict have both been shown to influence the effectiveness of top management team (TMT) decision-making. While evidence of positive and negative effects exists, evidence linking heterogeneity and conflict together also exists, making it difficult to reach any conclusion about the relationships between conflicts and outcomes. Drawing upon action theory (Parsons, 1937; Parsons and Shils, 1951), this paper argues that value heterogeneity is an overlooked determinant of how demographic heterogeneity affects conflict and how heterogeneity and conflict together influence the effectiveness of TMT decision-making. Results support the hypotheses and make meaningful additions to the conflict literature
