Top Threshold Physics

Running a future Linear Collider at the top pair threshold allows for precise measurements of the mass, the widths and the couplings of the top quark. I give a nontechnical review on recent theoretical developments and the theory status in top threshold physics concerning QCD corrections and top quark finite lifetime and electroweak effects. I also discuss threshold physics in the context of measurements of the top Yukawa coupling from $e^+e^-\to t\bar t H$ and of squark pair production.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures, PoS style. From Filamentary Networks to Dense Cores in Molecular Clouds: Toward a New Paradigm for Star Formation

Recent studies of the nearest star-forming clouds of the Galaxy at submillimeter wavelengths with the Herschel Space Observatory have provided us with unprecedented images of the initial and boundary conditions of the star formation process. The Herschel results emphasize the role of interstellar filaments in the star formation process and connect remarkably well with nearly a decade's worth of numerical simulations and theory that have consistently shown that the ISM should be highly filamentary on all scales and star formation is intimately related to self-gravitating filaments. In this review, we trace how the apparent complexity of cloud structure and star formation is governed by relatively simple universal processes - from filamentary clumps to galactic scales. We emphasize two crucial and complementary aspects: (i) the key observational results obtained with Herschel over the past three years, along with relevant new results obtained from the ground on the kinematics of interstellar structures, and (ii) the key existing theoretical models and the many numerical simulations of interstellar cloud structure and star formation. We then synthesize a comprehensive physical picture that arises from the confrontation of these observations and simulations.Comment: 24 pages, 15 figures. The Dynamics of Dense Cores in the Perseus Molecular Cloud II: The Relationship Between Dense Cores and the Cloud

We utilize the extensive datasets available for the Perseus molecular cloud to analyze the relationship between the kinematics of small-scale dense cores and the larger structures in which they are embedded. The kinematic measures presented here can be used in conjunction with those discussed in our previous work as strong observational constraints that numerical simulations (or analytic models) of star formation should match. We find that dense cores have small motions with respect to the 13CO gas, about one third of the 13CO velocity dispersion along the same line of sight. Within each extinction region, the core-to-core velocity dispersion is about half of the total (13CO) velocity dispersion seen in the region. Large-scale velocity gradients account for roughly half of the total velocity dispersion in each region, similar to what is predicted from large-scale turbulent modes following a power spectrum of P(k) ~ k^{-4}.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. 47 pages (preprint format), 20 figures, 5 table

La prevención de responsabilidades en centros de educación no superior.

Curs acadèmic: 2019/2020La educación, y la reeducación en su caso, de la población en los principios básicos de convivencia y de respeto a los derechos humanos son los objetivos que marca la CE respecto a la instrucción de la ciudadanía, y son apuestas fundamentales de toda Política Criminal. Los centros educativos de enseñanza no superior vienen a ser escenarios en los que se conjugan derechos sobre los menores como la dignidad (artículo 10.1 CE), y fundamentales como el derecho a la educación (artículo 27 CE), a la integridad física y moral (artículo 15 CE), a la libertad (artículo 17 CE), a la seguridad (artículo 17 CE), y, a la tutela judicial efectiva (artículo 24.1 CE). En la regulación de la enseñanza en España, a partir del marco básico constitucional, confluyen competencias estatales, autonómicas y municipales, lo que complica el panorama normativo y la claridad de las responsabilidades cuando se generan daños durante aquella actividad. Las actividades escolares, extraescolares, y complementarias que se llevan a cabo en estos centros durante la educación reglada, e, incluso el estado de las instalaciones físicas donde se realizan aquéllas, ocasionan con regularidad lesiones y daños sobre bienes jurídicos de distintos titulares. El ordenamiento jurídico debe dar una respuesta a dichos ataques para garantizar los derechos y libertades, así como la seguridad jurídica y física de todos los implicados, estableciendo mecanismos no sólo sancionadores, sino también de carácter preventivo, que permitan educar en un marco de convivencia. Desde el punto de vista criminológico, resulta de interés analizar de forma crítica la prevención de las responsabilidades de naturaleza administrativa, civil y penal que pueden llegar a exigirse a resultas de la actividad humana en dichos centros. Ello se hará concretando en primer lugar cuál es el panorama regulador de los centros educativos -en especial de los propios de la Comunidad Valenciana- las responsabilidades de diferente naturaleza que pueden llegar a exigirse a profesorado, alumnos, padres, AMPA,s, y, terceras personas; para estudiar luego la eficiencia de las actuales estrategias preventivas como son los planes de convivencia, la mediación intraescolar, el Plan Director para la Convivencia y Mejora de la Seguridad en los Centros Educativos y sus Entornos de la Secretaría de Estado de Seguridad, la figura de los Agentes-Tutores, la contratación de asistencia jurídica y de seguros de responsabilidad civil, etc.The education and, in some cases, the reeducation of the population are the fundamentals of the coexistence and the respect for the human rights. According to the citizenship education they are the objectives marked by the Espanish Constitution and are the main assets of the Criminal Policy. The second education centres become a certain type of sketch which combines such rights of the children as dignity (article 10. 1 EC), the right to the education (article 27 EC), the right to the physical and moral integrity (article 15 EC), the right to the freedom (article 17 EC), the right to the security (article 17 EC) and the right to an effective judicial protection (article 24.1 EC). According to the teaching regulations in the Kingdom of Spain, besides the basic constitutional framework, there are the state, regional and municipal competences that come together, which complicates the regulatory landscape and clarity of responsibilities when damage is generated during a certain activity. The academic, extracurricular and complementary activities that are being performed in these centres during the formal education and, also, the state of physical instalations where they are being carried out, can be a reason of regular damage to the property of different holders. The legal system has to send a clear message to the earlier mentioned attacks so as to guarantee the rights and freedom of each individual, also legal and physicial security to any of the involved members. This action allows to create certain mechanisms that can be applied not only to punish, but also to prevent and permit the education in a peaceful coexistence. It is important to analyze the administrative, civil and criminal liabilities from the criminological point of view having in mind that they can be formed during the time of activities in educational centres. This procedure will be carried out by, firstly, specifying the regulatory lancscape of educational institutions (in this case, the ones, that belong to the Valencian Community), diferent responsibilities that centres can demand from teachers, pupils, parents and third parties. All these factors will be later used to analyze the effectiveness of the precautionary strategies applied nowadays, such as plans of coexistence, intrascholar negotation, the Plan Director of State of Security applied as a Measure of the Coexistence and Safety Improvement in schools and their premises, the figure of guardians, application of legal assistance and etc

Ultrasoft NLL Running of the Nonrelativistic O(v) QCD Quark Potential

Using the nonrelativistic effective field theory vNRQCD, we determine the contribution to the next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) running of the effective quark-antiquark potential at order v (1/mk) from diagrams with one potential and two ultrasoft loops, v being the velocity of the quarks in the c.m. frame. Estudio de prefactibilidad para la instalación de una planta de producción de pasta untable de palta en envase Doypack con tapa

El presente estudio evalúa la factibilidad económica, tecnológica y financiera para la instalación de una planta productora de pasta untable de palta en envase Doypack con tapa, en Lima Metropolitana, con una vida útil de 5 años. Se incluye un estudio de mercado realizado en la Provincia de Lima para evaluar la existencia de un mercado que acepte el producto. Asimismo, se ha recolectado diversos datos de patrones de consumo, precios actuales de productos competidores y, de fuente primaria, grado de aceptación del producto en estudio. Por otro lado, como parte del estudio, se tiene una descripción detallada de los procesos necesarios y la maquinaria requerida para la implementación de la fábrica, así como la capacidad de estas, contando también con un plan de producción y plan de ventas. También, se calcula el requerimiento de materias primas y las compara con la disponibilidad de estas. Del mismo modo, se incluye el análisis de localización y disposición de planta, así como un plano de la distribución de las diferentes áreas, y dentro del área de producción, de las máquinas. Se tiene también información sobre el capital humano, la cantidad necesaria y los gastos en los que se incurrirá para el funcionamiento de la planta. Finalmente, en cuanto al tema económico y financiero, el estudio incluye también el detalle de financiamiento que se llevará a cabo para la inversión, así como el flujo de amortización a lo largo de los años de vida útil. En base a los resultados, proyectando los ingresos y egresos, se prueba la viabilidad financiera utilizando los principales estados financieros, los cuales se analizan para determinar la rentabilidad del negocio. Así mismo, para un mejor análisis, se miden indicadores de liquidez, solvencia y rentabilidad.The present study evaluates the economic, technological and financial feasibility for the installation of a production plant of avocado paste in Doypack container with lid, in Metropolitan Lima, with a useful life of 5 years. A market study conducted in Lima Province is included to evaluate the existence of a market that accepts the product. Likewise, data have been collected to have information about consumption patterns, competing products’ current prices and, from primary source, acceptance degree of the product under study. On the other hand, as part of the study, there is a detailed description of the needed processes and required machinery for the implementation of the factory, as well as its capacity, having also a production plan and sales plan. Also, raw material requirements are calculated and compared with its availability. In the same way, the plant location and layout are included, as well as a distribution plan of the different administrative and production areas. There is also information about human capital, the needed quantity and expenses that will be incurred for the plant operation. Finally, regarding economic and financial issue, the study also includes a detail of the financing estimated to be carried out for the investment, as well as the amortization flow over the years of useful years. Based on the results, projecting incomes and expenses, financial feasibility is tested using main financial statements, which are analyzed to determine the business profitability. Evaluation of Single-Trial Classification to Control a Visual ERP-BCI under a Situation Awareness Scenario.

An event-related potential (ERP)-based brain–computer interface (BCI) can be used to monitor a user’s cognitive state during a surveillance task in a situational awareness context. The present study explores the use of an ERP-BCI for detecting new planes in an air traffic controller (ATC). Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the impact of different visual factors on target detection. Experiment 1 validated the type of stimulus used and the effect of not knowing its appearance location in an ERP-BCI scenario. Experiment 2 evaluated the effect of the size of the target stimulus appearance area and the stimulus salience in an ATC scenario. The main results demonstrate that the size of the plane appearance area had a negative impact on the detection performance and on the amplitude of the P300 component. Future studies should address this issue to improve the performance of an ATC in stimulus detection using an ERP-BCI.Partial funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málag
