Advanced Techniques for Detecting Anomalies in Backbone Networks

    Get PDF

Improper Narratives: Egyptian Personal Blogs and the Arabic Notion of Adab

In recent years several international scholars have started to move beyond the social and political effect of blogging to define blogs in terms of literary writing (See Fitzpatrick, 2006; Himmer 2004; Van Dijk, 2004). Also in the Arab world, the fact that several blogs have been turned into books and have had considerable success, has provoked a debate over the literary status of blogs: while some critics hail them as a new literary experiment, others claim that they do not have the legitimacy to be included in the category of adab (literature). This has perhaps to do with the fact that in the Arab world (as elsewhere) printed books enjoy more prestige; but also with the fact that the Arab notion of adab is gradually coinciding, though still differing from the European notion of “literature”, and this defines the boundaries of the literary field. In other words, to claim that a work is “literary” because it has aspects of “literariness”, does not wholly correspond to saying that it is adabÄ«, i.e. “literary” for Arab critics. In this article I will discuss aspects of literariness and adab-icity by means of an analysis of the blog al-Kanabah al-កamrā (The Red Sofa), written by the Egyptian Bilāl កusnÄ«. The blog has been reviewed in several Egyptian newspapers and literary websites as “an interactive fiction” or a “adabÄ«/literary and visual blog”. However, its style, contents and materiality challenge both our notion of “literature” and the Arab concept of adab

5G Mobile Transport and Computing Platform for verticals

The support of 5G verticals service requires todesign an efficient Mobile Transport and Computing Platformwhere transport, mobile and MEC must interact effectively. Inthis paper, a novel architecture is proposed providing itsmapping on ETSI NFV. Two relevant use cases, such asautomotive and cloud robotics are presented to assess the novelarchitecture. This work has been partially funded by the EU H2020 5G-Transformer Project (grant no. 761536)

Mobile Transport and Computing Platform for 5G Verticals: resource abstraction and implementation

This paper has been presented at: 2018 IEEE Conference on Network Function Virtualization and Software Define Networks (IEEE NFV-SDN)The 5G-TRANSFORMER project aims at transforming today's mobile transport networks into an SDN/NFV-based platform, which offers slices tailored to the needs of vertical industries. The paper describes the 5G-TRANSFORMER resource management layer, namely MTP, and its main functionalities such as resource abstraction, resource information modeling and orchestration, and service instantiation. Then, it focuses on the ETSI-based interfaces exploited for the interaction between the control and management plane elements. Finally, the paper reports an MTP implementation including messages reporting resource abstraction. This work has been partially funded by the EU H2020 5G-TRANSFORMER Project (grant no. 761536)
