PENGARUH GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN TRANSFORMASIONAL, KOMUNIKASI ORGANISASI DAN MOTIVASI KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN ( Studi Terhadap Karyawan PT. PLN (Persero) Area Bengkulu )
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan pada PT. PLN (Persero) Area Bengkulu. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang dimaksudkan untuk menguji model yang menjelaskan hubungan antar variabel. Purpose of the study dengan melakukan hypotesis testing terhadap 156 karyawan tetap dengan menggunakan stuctural equation modeling. Sedangkan metode pengambilan sampel adalah purposive sampling dengan kriteria masa kerja karyawan minimal dua tahun. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat dikemukakan kesimpulan sebagai berikut : gaya kepemimpinan transformasional berpengaruh positif namun tidak signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan PT. PLN (Persero) Area Bengkulu; komunikasi organisasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan PT. PLN (Persero) Area Bengkulu; serta motivasi kerja berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan PT. PLN (Persero) Area Bengkulu. Sehingga dapat dikemukakan implikasi tersebut antara lain : membuat berbagai kebijakan dan regulasi terkait mekanisme dan pola komunikasi dalam organisasi; membangun komunikasi yang efektif dengan seluruh karyawan baik komunikasi formal maupun informal; dan meningkatkan motivasi karyawan terutama motivasi ektrinsik dengan memberikan kompensasi, membangun budaya kerja yang baik, serta memberikan fasilitas penunjang pekerjaan karyawan.

Impact of the microsporidian Nosema ceranae on the gut epithelium renewal of the honeybee, Apis mellifera
International audienceThe invasive microsporidian species, Nosema ceranae, causes nosemosis in honeybees and is suspected to be involved in Western honeybee (Apis mellifera) declines worldwide. The midgut of honeybees is the site of infection; the microsporidium can disturb the functioning of this organ and, thus, the bee physiology. Host defense against pathogens is not limited to resistance (i.e. the immune response) but also involves resilience. This process implies that the host can tolerate and repair damage inflicted by the infectionâ by the pathogen itself or by an excessive host immune response. Enterocyte damage caused by N. ceranae can be compensated by proliferation of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) that are under the control of multiple pathways. In the present study, we investigated the impact of N. ceranae on honeybee epithelium renewal by following the mitotic index of midgut stem cells during a 22-day N. ceranae infection. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and immunostaining experiments were performed to follow the parasite proliferation/progression in the intestinal tissue, especially in the ISCs as they are key cells for the midgut homeostasis. We also monitored the transcriptomic profile of 7 genes coding for key proteins involved in pathways implicated in the gut epithelium renewal and homeostasis. We have shown for the first time that N. ceranae can negatively alter the gut epithelium renewal rate and disrupt some signaling pathways involved in the gut homeostasis. This alteration is correlated to a reduced longevity of N. ceranae-infected honeybees and we can assume that honeybee susceptibility to N. ceranae could be due to an impaired ability to repair gut damage
Fatty Acids in Waste Tissues: The Nutraceutical Value of Gonads and Livers from the Moroccan Hypophthalmichthys molitrix and Cyprinus carpio Fishes
Fishes are an important component of human nutrition, mainly acting as source of essential fatty acids in the prevention of cardiovascular disorders. The increase in their consumption has led to a growth of fishes waste; therefore, the disposal and recycling of waste has become a key issue to address, in accordance with circular economy principles. The Moroccan Hypophthalmichthys molitrix and Cyprinus carpio fishes, living in freshwater and marine environments, were collected at mature and immature stages. The fatty acid (FA) profiles of liver and ovary tissues were investigated by GC-MS and compared with edible fillet tissues. The gonadosomatic index, the hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio, and the atherogenicity and thrombogenicity indexes were measured. Polyunsaturated fatty acids were found to be abundant in the mature ovary and fillet of both species, with a polyunsaturated fatty acids/saturated fatty acids ratio ranging from 0.40 to 1.06 and a monounsaturated fatty acids/polyunsaturated fatty acids ratio between 0.64 and 1.84. Saturated fatty acids were found to be highly abundant in the liver and gonads of both species (range 30-54%), as well as monounsaturated fatty acids (range 35-58%). The results suggested that the exploitation of fish wastes, such as the liver and ovary, may represent a sustainable strategy for the achievement of high value-added molecules with nutraceutical potential

Organic aerosol formation downwind from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
A large fraction of atmospheric aerosols are derived from organic compounds with various volatilities. A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) WP-3D research aircraft made airborne measurements of the gaseous and aerosol composition of air over the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that occurred from April to August 2010. A narrow plume of hydrocarbons was observed downwind of DWH that is attributed to the evaporation of fresh oil on the sea surface. A much wider plume with high concentrations of organic aerosol (>25 micrograms per cubic meter) was attributed to the formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) from unmeasured, less volatile hydrocarbons that were emitted from a wider area around DWH. These observations provide direct and compelling evidence for the importance of formation of SOA from less volatile hydrocarbons
Isolation and characterisation of human gingival margin-derived STRO-1/MACS+ and MACSâ cell populations
Recently, gingival margin-derived stem/progenitor cells isolated via
STRO-1/magnetic activated cell sorting (MACS) showed remarkable periodontal
regenerative potential in vivo. As a second-stage investigation, the present
study's aim was to perform in vitro characterisation and comparison of the
stem/progenitor cell characteristics of sorted STRO-1-positive (MACS+) and
STRO-1-negative (MACSâ) cell populations from the human free gingival margin.
Cells were isolated from the free gingiva using a minimally invasive technique
and were magnetically sorted using anti-STRO-1 antibodies. Subsequently, the
MACS+ and MACSâ cell fractions were characterized by flow cytometry for
expression of CD14, CD34, CD45, CD73, CD90, CD105, CD146/MUC18 and STRO-1.
Colony-forming unit (CFU) and multilineage differentiation potential were
assayed for both cell fractions. Mineralisation marker expression was examined
using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). MACS+ and MACSâ cell
fractions showed plastic adherence. MACS+ cells, in contrast to MACSâ cells,
showed all of the predefined mesenchymal stem/progenitor cell characteristics
and a significantly higher number of CFUs (P<0.01). More than 95% of MACS+
cells expressed CD105, CD90 and CD73; lacked the haematopoietic markers CD45,
CD34 and CD14, and expressed STRO-1 and CD146/MUC18. MACSâ cells showed a
different surface marker expression profile, with almost no expression of CD14
or STRO-1, and more than 95% of these cells expressed CD73, CD90 and
CD146/MUC18, as well as the haematopoietic markers CD34 and CD45 and CD105.
MACS+ cells could be differentiated along osteoblastic, adipocytic and
chondroblastic lineages. In contrast, MACSâ cells demonstrated slight
osteogenic potential. Unstimulated MACS+ cells showed significantly higher
expression of collagen I (P<0.05) and collagen III (P<0.01), whereas MACSâ
cells demonstrated higher expression of osteonectin (P<0.05; MannâWhitney).
The present study is the first to compare gingival MACS+ and MACSâ cell
populations demonstrating that MACS+ cells, in contrast to MACSâ cells,
harbour stem/progenitor cell characteristics. This study also validates the
effectiveness of the STRO-1/MACS+ technique for the isolation of gingival
stem/progenitor cells. Human free gingival margin-derived STRO-1/MACS+ cells
are a unique renewable source of multipotent stem/progenitor cells

Numerical simulation of "an American haboob"
A dust storm of fearful proportions hit Phoenix in the early evening hours of 5 July 2011. This storm, an American haboob, was predicted hours in advance because numerical, land-atmosphere modeling, computing power and remote sensing of dust events have improved greatly over the past decade. High-resolution numerical models are required for accurate simulation of the small scales of the haboob process, with high velocity surface winds produced by strong convection and severe downbursts. Dust productive areas in this region consist mainly of agricultural fields, with soil surfaces disturbed by plowing and tracks of land in the high Sonoran Desert laid barren by ongoing draught. Model simulation of the 5 July 2011 dust storm uses the coupled atmospheric-dust model NMME-DREAM (Non-hydrostatic Mesoscale Model on E grid, Janjic et al., 2001; Dust REgional Atmospheric Model, Nickovic et al., 2001; Perez et al., 2006) with 4 km horizontal resolution. A mask of the potentially dust productive regions is obtained from the land cover and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS). The scope of this paper is validation of the dust model performance, and not use of the model as a tool to investigate mechanisms related to the storm. Results demonstrate the potential technical capacity and availability of the relevant data to build an operational system for dust storm forecasting as a part of a warning system. Model results are compared with radar and other satellite-based images and surface meteorological and PM10 observations. The atmospheric model successfully hindcasted the position of the front in space and time, with about 1 h late arrival in Phoenix. The dust model predicted the rapid uptake of dust and high values of dust concentration in the ensuing storm. South of Phoenix, over the closest source regions (similar to 25 km), the model PM10 surface dust concentration reached similar to 2500 mu g m(-3), but underestimated the values measured by the PM10 stations within the city. Model results are also validated by the MODIS aerosol optical depth (AOD), employing deep blue (DB) algorithms for aerosol loadings. Model validation included Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observation (CALIPSO), equipped with the lidar instrument, to disclose the vertical structure of dust aerosols as well as aerosol subtypes. Promising results encourage further research and application of high-resolution modeling and satellite-based remote sensing to warn of approaching severe dust events and reduce risks for safety and health
Unusual Etiology and Diagnosis of Oroantral Communication due to Late Implant Failure
Oroantral communication (OAC) rarely occurs long after implant placement. The present report describes the rare etiology and the difficulty of the diagnosis of an uncommon OAC occurring 10 years after the implant placement in the posterior maxilla. The difficulty of the diagnosis lies in the absence of clinical symptoms of sinusitis and presence of multiunit prosthesis hiding implant failure. This case report supports the need for sinus check-up during a routine implant examination
Proboscis Morphology and Its Relationship to Feeding Habits in Noctuid Moths
This study describes proboscis morphology and identifies morphometric differences among five species of noctuid moths with different feeding habits (fruit versus nectar-feeding). Morphological and morphometric parameters were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy. Measurements included: galea height in ten sites from base to tip, total proboscis length, and length of the distal region that contains large sensilla styloconica and / or tearing hooks and erectible barbs. Both morphometric and morphological differences were identified among species within and between feeding guilds, and these results are discussed in light of the feeding habits of each species
