As discussões teóricas permeiam toda a dissertação. Abstract : The main objective of this work is to present a critical history of the translations of Leonardo da Vinci's texts in Brazil. The main implication of this research is the realization of new translations, which differ from previous works mainly by taking into account the nature of Leonardo's manuscripts. That is, instead of following the model that consisted in transcribing the texts of manuscripts and transposing them after translated into traditional supports of the book type, the proposal here is to make handwrite translations of printed copies of Leonardo's pages available on the internet. The main argument for this proposal is that it does not neglect the visual aspect of Leonardo's manuscripts, i.e., pages in which drawings and texts interrelate deeply. This work follows a chronological order: first it presents some contextualizing comments on the fact that Leonardo da Vinci has written, although he is most famous for his paintings and research in engineering and anatomy; then a brief history of the first publications of Leonardo?s texts is presented, always based on the anthology medium; then this work concentrates on the history of the 13 anthologies of translations from Leonardo?s texts that have been found in Brazil, plus another Portuguese anthology, making up a total of 14 works criticized; finally, it is presented the translation project explored through the analysis of existing works. The theoretical discussions pervade this dissertation. As there are different study fronts (history, anthologization, translation, criticism, visual arts), contributions from different areas of academic research can be found in this work. For this reason, it is believed that this dissertation may contribute to the transfusion of different fields of knowledge, since its base has a transdisciplinary perspective. With regard to Leonardo da Vinci's criticism as a writer, the main authors consulted were Augusto Marinoni (1980), Carlo Pedretti (1999), Carlo Vecce (2007), and Martin Kemp (2006). To reflect on the act of writing history, the work of Paul Ricoeur (1985) was used. About anthologizing processes, especially in relation to translation, it relied primarily on André Lefevere (1985; 1992; 1995) of whom this work borrows the concept of rewriting. Other foundations are sought mainly in Helga Essmann & Armin Frank (1990; 1991), Lieven D'Hulst (1995; 2013), Martha Cheung (2003; 2012; 2013), and Lucia Re (1992). Concerning the question of critical translation, it is supported by Antoine Berman (1995). The theoretical perspectives of translation that permeate the design of new translations aroused from reflections brought up by the very experience of a handwritten translation, although ideas by Antoine Berman (2013), Henri Meschonnic (1973; 1999), and Augusto de Campos (1986; 1987;1989) are taken in consideration. A philosophical reference to the artistic task is Vilém Flusser (2008; 2010), and some practical references are the criticism of Roland Barthes (1979) to the work of the visual artist Cy Twombly, as well as the written and visual works by Emilio Isgrò (1988). The outcome is a miscellany called Páginas de Leonardo da Vinci (?Leonardo da Vinci?s pages?), which is annexed to this academic work

COMO SE ESCREVE UM ROMANCE? TRADUÇÃO COMENTADA DE COME SI SCRIVE UN ROMANZO?, DE SALVATORE FARINA

    Get PDF

Comparative wettability of different sodium hypochlorite solutions

    Get PDF
Summary Objectives The present study evaluated the dentin wettability of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) with and without the addition of surfactants. Materials and methods Twelve premolars roots were longitudinally split using a low-speed rotary diamond saw. The 24 specimens were randomly distributed into four experimental groups: Group 1 = 5.25% NaOCl; Group 2 = Hypoclean; Group 3 = Chlor-Xtra; Group 4 = freshly produced MilliQ water (distilled water). Three different contact angles were measured: the sessile angle, the advancing angle, and the receding angle. All angles were measured with a goniometer Kruss G 23. Results The highest contact angle was observed in Group 4 (control group), considering both sessile and advancing angles. Hypoclean and Chlor-Xtra solutions immediately spread on the dentin surface, yielding a zero-degree contact angle. Pure NaOCl solution showed a 35-degree sessile contact angle and a 64-degree advancing contact angle. The detected receding angle was zero. Conclusions Obtained data clearly showed the superior wettability of Hypoclean and Chlor-Xtra in comparison to pure NaOCl and distilled water

Introduction: Pregnancy and early childhood are the most critical phases with regard to biological, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Adverse events in these periods of life may be related to alterations in dental development, including alterations in size, shape and mineralization. Objective: To evaluate the frequency of dental abnormalities and the factors associated with the developmental defects of the enamel in primary teeth. Material and methods: Information about family income, maternal education level, pretermbirth, and hospitalization history up to 11 months of age were collected from the dental records of 544 children. Clinical examination of the children was performed to investigate abnormalities of tooth number, form, size, and developmental defects of the enamel (DDE). Data were analyzed using χ2 test and Poisson regression. Results: In all, 544 children were evaluated. Sixty children (11.0%) presented some alterations in the primary teeth; and 7.5% showed DDE. Children born preterm were 3.17 times more likely to develop DDE in primary teeth (prevalence ratio – PR = 3.17, 95% confidence interval– 95%CI 1.26–7.98, p = 0.014). Among the alterations of number, 1.7% was hypodontia, and among the abnormalities of shape, 1.7% was fused teeth. Conclusion: The prevalence of dental anomalies in this sample was, in general, expressive. Children born preterm were more vulnerable to present developmental defects of the enamel.Introduction: Pregnancy and early childhood are the most critical phases with regard to biological, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Endodontic and Orthodontic Management of Traumatically Intruded Teeth with Horizontal Root Fracture: A Case Report

    Get PDF
This report describes the case of an 8-year-old boy that was referred to endodontic and orthodontic treatment after suffering an injury that led to intrusion of the maxillary right permanent central incisor, palatal displacement of the upper right lateral incisor, and root fracture of both central incisors. Both injured teeth were immature and had open apices. The intruded tooth was repositioned by endodontic and orthodontic management. Endodontic therapy was performed in both teeth with periodical changes of calcium-hydroxide-based paste as root canal dressing and introduction of MTA as an apical barrier. The postoperative course was uneventful with clinical and radiographic success up to 3 and 1/2 years of follow up. In the present case, orthodontic repositioning combined with endodontic therapy constitued a viable alternative treatment for intrusive luxations in immature permanent teeth

Multiparasitism in Crab-eating fox (Cerdocyon thous) (Carnivora: Canidae), including new records, in the Brazilian Pampa - case report

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT Cerdocyon thous is considered the most common wild canid in Rio Grande do Sul, and can serve as a host for several parasites, playing an important role in maintaining the biological cycle. Despite being a widespread and abundant species, they have a relatively little-known fauna of endo and ectoparasites, mainly focusing on the different regions of their occurrence. With this work, the objective was to report the multiparasitism in a specimen of C. thous in the Brazilian Pampa. Using modified Centrifuge-Flotation and Spontaneous Sedimentation techniques, a high taxonomic diversity of parasites was observed, and the finding of eggs compatible with Lagochilascaris spp. in C. thous in Brazil, in addition to Uncinaria spp. eggs and Cystoisospora spp. oocysts in the same host in the south of the country. The presence of eggs of different helminths in the feces of C. thous is extremely important, mainly for public health, but also for the knowledge of the biodiversity of parasites present in wild populations of canids, until then little studied, thus allowing the implementation of control programs
