Residual effect of natural and synthetic zinc chelates on zinc in a soil solution of a waterlogged acidic soil. Evolution of the pH and redox potential.

Zinc chelates have been widely used to correct deficiencies in this micronutrient in different soil types and under different moisture conditions. The aging of the metal in soil could cause a change in its availability. Over time the most labile forms of Zn could decrease in activity and extractability and change to more stable forms. Various soil parameters, such as redox conditions, time, soil type and moisture conditions, affect the aging process and modify the solubility of the metal. In general, redox conditions influence pH and also the chemical forms dissolved in the soil solution. Soil pH also affects Zn solubility; at high pH values, most of the Zn is present in forms that are not bioavailable to plants. El trabajo de grado tiene por objetivo proponer un modelo de Plan de Mercadeo para el proceso de Desarrollo de negocios que Integre actividades académicas, científicas, educativas, comerciales y sociales que permitan el crecimiento de los productos y servicios de la empresa y amplíen la participación en la prevención, promoción y cuidado de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles como la diabetes mellitus tipo 2. El plan surge de la necesidad de proporcionar a la gerencia de la empresa una estrategia dinámica e integral en la era de mercadeo que contribuya al cumplimiento de la misión y visón estratégica definidas. Para el desarrollo del modelo se utilizó metodología propuesta por los docentes Hernán Darío Cadavid y Jack Franklin Gomez de la asignatura de Gerencia de Marketing, utilizando el modelo de plan de mercadeo exprés.. ¿De qué sirve preocuparse por si es bueno o malo?: "Carrusel" y la presentación de la violencia doméstica en los musicales.

The analysis of the 1956 film Carousel (Dir. Henry King), which was based on the 1945 play by Rodgers and Hammerstein, provides a suitable example of a musical with explicit allusions to male physical aggression over two women: the wife and the daughter. The issue of domestic violence appears, thus, in a film genre in which serious topics such as these are rarely present. The film provide an opportunity to study how the expectations and the conventions brought up by this genre are capable of shaping and transforming the presentation of Domestic Violence. Because the audience had to sympathise with the protagonists, the plot was arranged to fulfil the conventional pattern of a romantic story inducing audiences forget about the dark themes that are being portrayed on screen.La película Carrusel (dirigida por Henry King en 1956 y basada en la obra de Rodgers y Hammerstein de 1945), nos ofrece un gran ejemplo de un musical que realiza alusiones explícitas a las agresiones que ejerce el protagonista masculino sobre su esposa y su hija. El tema de la violencia doméstica aparece así en un género fílmico en el que este tipo de tratamientos rara vez están presentes. Igualmente interesante es el estudio de cómo las expectativas y las convenciones creadas por el género son capaces de perfilar y transformar el modo en el que la violencia doméstica es presentada. Dado que la audiencia debía simpatizar con los protagonistas, la trama fue manipulada de forma que encajara dentro del patrón tradicional del musical romántico. De esta forma, el público podía olvidar los temas más oscuros que se presentaban en pantalla

Precarious lives: the politics of displacement: The Magdalene Sisters and Rabbit Proof Fence

The aim of this article is to compare The Magdalene Sisters and Rabbit Proof Fence, two films released in 2002, which exemplify a multicultural world that will be explained through postcolonial theory. These films will give voice to those who were silenced because they were différents in a Derridean way and due to their incongruence with what is supposedly desirable. The films will show, through their plots, that patriarchy has prevented women from speaking up as it has ostracised them and confined them to spaces where they have been unable to become free. We will also deal with the negative influence of the Christian Church and its insistence on an ideal of feminine purity. The films show this expectation both through their plots and artistic devices: music, spaces, shots and colours will show the arbitrariness of their unique point of view.El objetivo de este artículo es comparar The Magdalene Sisters y Rabbit Proof Fence, dos películas estrenadas en 2002, producto de un mundo polifónico que trataremos de explicar a través de la teoría postcolonial, y que dará voz y diferenciará a aquellos que fueron silenciados por ser différents a la manera derridiana y no encajar en el paradigma de representación de lo deseable. Las películas mostrarán con sus argumentos que el patriarcado ha impedido que las mujeres articulen sus voces al relegarlas a posiciones de desempoderamiento, y confinarlas a espacios donde no han podido ser libres. A esta tradición cultural debemos unir la influencia negativa que ha ejercido la iglesia cristiana y la imposición de su ideal de pureza femenina. Las películas evidencian esta expectativa no sólo con su relato sino también con los medios artísticos propios del cine; música, espacios, planos y colores expondrán la arbitrariedad de un único punto de vista

Los límites de la razón en The Schooldays of Jesus, de J.M. Coetzee

This paper explores J.M. Coetzee’s latest novel, The Schooldays of Jesus (2016), and focuses on its intense dialogue with ancient philosophical ideas such as Plato’s Theory of Forms and some of the author’s literary precursors, such as Cervantes’ Don Quixote (1605) and Musil’s The Confusions of Young Törless (1906). It is also a tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach’s brilliant mind and music, which Coetzee has already commented upon on different occasions. The Schooldays is an intertextual story about the magic of numbers, dance and music and tells the story of Davíd, a rebellious child who is sent to Juan Sebastián Arroyo’s Academy of Dance (Arroyo is Bach’s name translated into Spanish), where he learns that music and dance can help us  communicate with the universe and discover our true selves. It is the first time Coetzee incorporates magical elements and constant spiritual allusions in one of his plots, and I will argue that these, together with the intertextuality with other novels and texts and the characterization of the main characters, are used to show (once again) his ambivalence towards rationalism, but in a different style. This represents a turning point in his literary career.Este artículo analiza la última novela de J.M. Coetzee, The Schooldays of Jesus (2016), y se concentra en el intenso diálogo que establece con ideas filosóficas antiguas, como la teoría de las ideas de Platón, y con algunos de sus precursores literarios, como Don Quijote (1605) de Miguel de Cervantes y The Confusions of Young Törless (1906) de Musil. The Schooldays of Jesus es también un tributo a la mente brillante y a la música de Johann Sebastian Bach, a quien Coetzee admira, como ha comentado en diferentes ocasiones. La novela, un ejemplo de intertextualidad que combina la magia de los números, la danza y la música, narra la historia de Davíd, un niño rebelde que cursa estudios de danza en la academia de baile de Juan Sebastián Arroyo (Johann Sebastian Bach traducido al español). Allí Davíd aprende que la música y el baile nos pueden ayudar a comunicarnos con el universo y a descubrirnos a nosotros mismos. Esta es la primera vez que Coetzee incorpora elementos mágicos y alusiones del mundo espiritual a uno de sus argumentos. En nuestra interpretación, argumentamos que estos elementos, la intertextualidad con otras obras literarias y la caracterización de los personajes principales son la forma que tiene Coetzee de mostrar su ambivalencia hacia el racionalismo, tal y como ha venido haciendo en todas sus novelas, pero que en esta ocasión representa un cambio significativo, ya que lo hace con un estilo nuevo

Sign language translation with pseudo-glosses

La Traducció de la Llengua de Signes és un problema obert que té com a objectiu generar frases escrites a partir de vídeos de signes. En els darrers anys, molts treballs de recerca que s'han desenvolupat en aquest camp van abordar principalment la tasca de Reconeixement de la Llengua de Signes, que consisteix a comprendre els signes d'entrada i transcriure'ls en seqüències d'anotacions. A més, els estudis actuals mostren que aprofitar aquesta darrera tasca ajuda a aprendre representacions significatives i es pot veure com un pas intermig cap a l'objectiu final de traducció. En aquest treball, presentem un mètode per generar pseudo-glosses automàtiques a partir de les frases escrites, que pot funcionar com a substitució de les glosses reals. Això aborda el problema de la seva adquisició, ja que s'han d'anotar manualment i és extremadament costós. A més, introduïm una nova implementació basada en Fairseq de l'enfocament del model Transformer introduït per Camgoz et al., que està entrenat conjuntament per resoldre les tasques de reconeixement i traducció. També proporcionem nous resultats de referència per ambdues implementacions: en primer lloc, per la base de dades Phoenix, presentem resultats que superen els proporcionats per Camgoz et al. en el seu treball i, en segon lloc, per la base de dades How2Sign, presentem els primers resultats de la tasca de traducció. Aquests resultats poden servir de base per a futures investigacions en el camp.Sign Language Translation is an open problem whose goal is to generate written sentences from sign videos. In recent years, many research works that have been developed in this field mainly addressed the Sign Language Recognition task, which consists in understanding the input signs and transcribing them into sequences of annotations. Moreover, current studies show that taking advantage of the latter task helps to learn meaningful representations and can be seen as an intermediate step towards the end goal of translation. In this work, we present a method to generate automatic pseudo-glosses from written sentences, which can work as a replacement for real glosses. This addresses the issue of their collection, as they need to be manually annotated and it is extremely costly. Furthermore, we introduce a new implementation built on Fairseq of the Transformer-model approach introduced by Camgoz et al., which is jointly trained to solve the recognition and translation tasks. Besides, we provide new baseline results on both implementations: first, on the Phoenix dataset, we present results that outperform the ones provided by Camgoz et al. in their work, and, second, on the How2Sign dataset, we present the first results on the translation task. These results can work as a baseline for future research in the field
