All-fiberized dispersion-managed multi-channel regeneration at 43 Gb/s
We report on the simultaneous 2R regeneration of up to three 42.7 Gb/s wavelength-division-multiplexing channels in a simple dispersion-managed fiber section with signal quality improvements higher than 1.7 dB. The regenerator relies on self-phase modulation-induced spectral broadening of the optical channels inside the fiber section and subsequent bandpass filtering at shifted wavelengths, and it is experimentally investigated in single-, dual-, and three-channel operation using optical pulses of 33% duty cycle
Simultaneous processing of 43 Gb/s WDM channels by a fiber-based dispersion-managed 2R regenerator
We demonstrate 43 Gb/s multi-channel 2R regeneration in a single dispersion-managed fiber, based on SPM-induced spectral broadening and subsequent offset filtering
An all-optical grooming switch for interconnecting access and metro ring networks [Invited]
A regenerative all-optical grooming switch for interconnecting 130 Gbit/s on-off keying (OOK) metro/core ring and 43 Gbit/s-OOK metro/access ring networks with switching functionality in time, space, and wavelength domains is demonstrated. Key functionalities of the switch are traffic aggregation with time-slot interchanging functionality, optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) to wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) demultiplexing, and multi-wavelength 2R regeneration. Laboratory and field demonstrations show the excellent performance of the new concept with error-free signal transmission and Q-factors above 20 dB
2R regeneration of two 130 Gbit/s channels within a single fiber
We experimentally demonstrate the simultaneous all-optical regeneration of two 130Gbit/s signals in a single highly nonlinear fibre using self-phase modulation and offset filtering. No degradation was observed due to the presence of the second channel
A dual purpose, all optical multiplexer circuit in InP, for multiplexing clock and NRZ data, and for transmultiplexing WDM to TDM
