    Confidence Statements for Ordering Quantiles

    Full text link
    This work proposes Quor, a simple yet effective nonparametric method to compare independent samples with respect to corresponding quantiles of their populations. The method is solely based on the order statistics of the samples, and independence is its only requirement. All computations are performed using exact distributions with no need for any asymptotic considerations, and yet can be run using a fast quadratic-time dynamic programming idea. Computational performance is essential in high-dimensional domains, such as gene expression data. We describe the approach and discuss on the most important assumptions, building a parallel with assumptions and properties of widely used techniques for the same problem. Experiments using real data from biomedical studies are performed to empirically compare Quor and other methods in a classification task over a selection of high-dimensional data sets

    Finite-dimensional representations of twisted hyper loop algebras

    Full text link
    We investigate the category of finite-dimensional representations of twisted hyper loop algebras, i.e., the hyperalgebras associated to twisted loop algebras over finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. The main results are the classification of the irreducible modules, the definition of the universal highest-weight modules, called the Weyl modules, and, under a certain mild restriction on the characteristic of the ground field, a proof that the simple modules and the Weyl modules for the twisted hyper loop algebras are isomorphic to appropriate simple and Weyl modules for the non-twisted hyper loop algebras, respectively, via restriction of the action

    Penerapan Pasal 29 Undang-undang Nomor 42 Tahun 1999 Tentang Jaminan Fidusia Mengenai Eksekusi Objek Jaminan Kendaraan Bermotor (Studi di PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang)

    Pada skripsi ini, penulis mengangkat permasalahan hukum dalam hal Penerapan Pasal 29 Undang-Undang Nomor 42 Tahun 1999 tentang Jaminan Fidusia Mengenai Eksekusi Objek Jaminan Kendaraan Bermotor Roda Dua di PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang. Pemilihan penelitian ini berdasarkan hasil temuan penulis saat melakukan pra survey di PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang yang dimana terdapat permasalahan yang bersangkutan dengan pelaksanaan eksekusi objek jaminan. Pelaksanaan eksekusi objek jaminan di PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang tidak semudah dengan apa yang diatur dalam peraturan Perundang-undangan, hal tersebut dikarenakan banyak debitor yang melakukan perbuatan-perbuatan yang dilarang dalam perjanjian pembiayaan konsumen di PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang. Dengan banyaknya debitor yang melanggar perjanjian pembiayaan konsumen ini secara langsung sangat menyulitkan pihak kreditor yaitu PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang dalam melaksanakan eksekusi objek jaminan sesuai dengan Pasal 29 Undang-Undang Nomor 42 Tahun 1999 tentang Jaminan Fidusia. Dengan adanya kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi oleh PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang dalam melaksanakan eksekusi objek jaminan maka penulis tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian ini dengan tujuan mengetahui bagaimana proses penerapan Pasal 29 Undang-Undang Nomor 42 Tahun 1999 tentang Jaminan Fidusia yang dilakukan oleh PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang.Kata Kunci: Jaminan Fidusia, PT. Smart Multi Finance Cabang Malang, Eksekusi Objek Jaminan, Pasal 29 Undang-Undang Nomor 42 Tahun 1999 tentang Jaminan Fidusia

    The Brans-Dicke-Rastall theory

    Get PDF
    We formulate a theory combining the principles of a scalar-tensor gravity and Rastall's proposal of a violation of the usual conservation laws. We obtain a scalar-tensor theory with two parameters ω\omega and λ\lambda, the latter quantifying the violation of the usual conservation laws. The only exact spherically symmetric solution is that of Robinson-Bertotti besides Schwarzschild solution. A PPN analysis reveals that General Relativity results are reproduced when λ=0\lambda = 0. The cosmological case displays a possibility of deceleration/acceleration or acceleration/deceleration transitions during the matter dominated phase depending on the values of the free parameters.Comment: 17 pages, 3 figure

    Distinct high-T transitions in underdoped Ba1x_{1-x}Kx_{x}Fe2_{2}As2_{2}

    In contrast to the simultaneous structural and magnetic first order phase transition T0T_{0} previously reported, our detailed investigation on an underdoped Ba0.84_{0.84}K0.16_{0.16}Fe2_{2}As2_{2} single crystal unambiguously revealed that the transitions are not concomitant. The tetragonal (τ\tau: I4/mmm) - orthorhombic (ϑ\vartheta: Fmmm) structural transition occurs at TST_{S}\simeq 110 K, followed by an adjacent antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition at TNT_{N}\simeq 102 K. Hysteresis and coexistence of the τ\tau and ϑ\vartheta phases over a finite temperature range observed in our NMR experiments confirm the first order character of the structural transition and provide evidence that both TST_{S} and TNT_{N} are strongly correlated. Our data also show that superconductivity (SC) develops in the ϑ\vartheta phase below TcT_{c} = 20 K and coexists with long range AFM. This new observation, TSTNT_{S}\neq T_{N}, firmly establishes another similarity between the hole-doped BaFe2_{2}As2_{2} via K substitution and the electron-doped iron-arsenide superconductors.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
