Imperfect Bipartisanship and Spanish Pluralism: The Keys to Success of Podemos on Twitter

The objective of this research is to find if the success of Podemos in the 2014 European Parliament Elections and its activity on Twitter agrees with the theoretical perspectives that Dahlgren (2011) and De Ugarte (2007) developed or if there is a new civic participation paradigm that determinates the successful of the current political communication strategies. In order to verify this purpose, this study not only has applied Dahlgren (2011) and De Ugarte (2007) proposals, but also it has developed a sampling tweets methodology that permits to collect and analyze information from Podemos’ tweets from the 25th, March 2015 to the 24th, May 2014. The main conclusion of this research is that there is not a real ‘new civic participation model’, but there are emerging some social and collective trends that De Ugarte and Dahlgren did not consider in their approaches, but that offer a new context for the development of a new concept of “politics”.Ciencias de la Comunicació

Cuando la ciudadanía recupera el poder : deliberación teórica sobre el ciberactivismo, la desobediencia civil y la cultura hacker

El ciberactivismo es un concepto polisémico que denota multitud de interpretaciones. Los debates académicos sugieren que proliferan diversas definiciones sobre qué implicaciones comprende el movimiento ciberactivista y cuál es su repercusión en el escenario social y político. Así pues, con el fin de solventar las distintas ambigüedades que genera este fenómeno emergente, este estudio ofrece un marco de referencia con el que entender y delimitar el significado del ciberactivismo y en el que se vislumbran nuevas oportunidades para los futuros ciberactivistas. Para conseguir este objetivo, este trabajo ha recurrido a la metodología de la revisión de la literatura. De este modo se ha conseguido describir y enmarcar el ciberactivismo como una nueva forma de participación política ciudadana que hunde sus raíces en la desobediencia civil y la cultura hacker. En este contexto, el ciberactivista se presenta como un hacktivista que utiliza las plataformas y redes digitales para difundir sus mensajes de protesta, buscar aliados y refutar las críticas de sus antagonistas. El ciberactivista tiene un papel activo en el escenario social, político y económico: se considera un prosumidor del conocimiento colectivo que invita y convoca a otros usuarios a participar en espacios de debate, colaboración ciudadana y reivindicación políticas

El cambio ecológico de la comunicación do it yourself. Transformación del escenario mediático tradicional desde la perspectiva del prosumidor

Este estudio defiende que la cultura Do it yourself debe entenderse como un elemento que ha redefinido el escenario social y ha creado nuevas oportunidades para que el ciudadano pueda convertirse en un prosumidor de contenidos digitales. Sin embargo, estas transformaciones no resultan tan revolucionarias como auspician los optimistas digitales, sino que se trata, más bien, de un cambio ecológico. Con base en esta propuesta, el objetivo del presente trabajo se centra en justificar la necesidad de descartar las utópicas convicciones y esperanzas que todavía suscita la revolución digital con el fin de motivar una nueva visión, más reflexiva y realista, sobre cómo entender los cambios tecnológicos y su repercusión en la identidad del ciudadano. Para conseguir estos objetivos, se ha recurrido a la metodología de la revisión de la literatura con el fin de delimitar la temática a tratar y ofrecer un enfoque científico concreto desde el que analizar la tesis que se plantea en este estudio. La principal conclusión que se desprende de este estudio subraya que la revolución digital no es, por tanto, tan revolucionaria como muchos académicos ciberoptimistas tienden a pensar, sino que es más bien un cambio connatural a la evolución del ciudadano. La cultura Do it yourself forma parte de un cambio ecológico y discreto (Postman, 1970) que ha supuesto la redefinición de roles y funciones en el ámbito social, político y económico; pero la llegada de la Web 2.0 no resulta tan peculiar y original como parece. La euforia que suscita el ágora digital puede compararse con el optimismo y vehemencia que en su día motivó la llegada de la televisión, la radio o el teléfon

Civic participation and interactive documentaries: a contribution to the open government model

This research introduces the marriage between interactive documentaries (i-docs) and politics as an opportunity to motivate new civic participation and expression in the political sphere. The main objective of this study is to identify the different degrees of civic participation that i-docs permit and to setup a classification according to these levels of engagement. In order to achieve the main objective, this research has analyzed a group of documentaries using a mixture of Gaudenzi, Gifreu-Castells, and Nash methodology. The results show that it is possible to find a parallel between the closed mode and the Orwellian model; the semi-closed mode and the Tokenism model; the semi-opened mode and the playful model; and between the opened mode and the Athenian model. However, only the opened mode, used in the Global lives documentary , offers a real experience that symbolizes the purest representation of an open government system.Ciencias de la Comunicació

Esta comunicación defiende que el maridaje entre los i-docs y la política supone una oportunidad para la creación y reformulación de nuevas expresiones de participación ciudadana. Estos arquetipos facilitan que emisores y receptores puedan consumir, interaccionar y transformar el relato político, así como proponer modelos políticos más abiertos, horizontales y participativos. El objetivo principal se centra en mostrar los diferentes niveles de participación ciudadana que ofrecen los i-docs. Strengthening women empowerment through i-docs: Alternative forms of participation and civic engagement in the feminist movement

The main objective of this research is to explore how i-docs motivate and drive citizen engagement in a manner that sustains and reinforces the sense of belonging to the feminist movement. Drawing upon the eight core drives represented by each side of the Octalysis methodology, the purpose of this study is to identify the motivational elements that push citizens to participate in feminist causes and to be concerned about different feminist issues. Using a quantitative methodology, our sample comprises three feminist documentaries that enable different levels of interaction and participation: She Is Beautiful When She Is Angry, as a closed i-doc; En la brecha, as a semi-closed i-doc; and Las sinsombrero, as a semi-open i-doc. El principal objetivo de este estudio es identificar los grados de participación ciudadana que permiten los i-docs y establecer una clasificación según esos niveles de implicación cívica. Para ello, esta investigación ha analizado un conjunto de documentales utilizando la metodología propuesta por Gaudenzi, Gifreu-Castells y Nash. Los resultados muestran que existe un paralelismo entre el modelo cerrado y el paradigma orwelliano; el modelo semi-cerrado y el paradigma de la cortina de humo o Tokenism; el modelo semi-abierto y el paradigma solaz y entre el modelo abierto y el paradigma ateniense.
