Trait emotional intelligence and adolescent psychological well-being: a systematic review

    Get PDF
Trait emotional intelligence (trait EI) has a protective role in adolescence, linked to better well-being and social interactions. However, research on these topics with adolescent samples is limited and has not yet been systematized in the field. The present work aims to scrutinize the extant trait EI literature and adolescent psychological well-being. Since operationalization is crucial for any EI model, the review focused on studies that used the adolescent forms of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue). A search conducted in EBSCO Essentials, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, and Psyc Articles in October 2023 identified 34 articles. Findings are discussed under five subsections: gender differences, psychological constructs, parental relations, scholastic constructs, and practice-oriented topics. The review corroborates the protective role of trait EI in adolescent psychological well-being. Future studies should aspire to extend research in cross-cultural settings with more rigorous designs

The main interest of this essay is the analysis of the document from the State Archive in Venice (file: Capi del Consiglio de’ Dieci: Lettere di Rettori e di altre cariche) which is connected with the episode from 1748 when the inhabitants of the village Žrnove on the island of Korčula in Croatia opened tombs on the local cemetery in the fear of the vampires treating. This essay try to show some social circumstances connected with this event as well as a local vernacular tradition concerning superstitions

Diagnostic values of diffusion tensor parameters in 3 T breast magnetic resonance imaging: Differentiation of breast tumors from bilateral healthy breast parenchyma

Purpose: Our aim is to search diagnostic value of diffusion tensor parameters in the breast cancer.Materials and Methods: We included 46 patients with contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the breast between the dates of July 2015 and December 2016. We measured fractional anisotropy (FA), apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), relative anisotropy (RA) and volume ratio (VR) values of the malignant mass, ipsilateral and contralateral healthy breast parenchyma in each patient. Results: ADC and VR values of the malignant lesions were significantly lower than normal parenchyma (P < 0.01). FA values were statistically higher in masses than normal breast parenchyma (P < 0.05). RA values were statistically higher in the mass than ipsilateral breast parenchyma (P < 0.01) but not significantly different from in contralateral breast parenchyma (P > 0.05). Only ADC values were statistically lower in contralateral side than ipsilateral breast parenchyma (P < 0.05) other parameters showed no statistical significance between parenchymas. Conclusion: DTI findings, such as FA, ADC, RA and VR, provide significant contribution in differentiating cancer from healthy breast tissue. Keywords: Breast cancer, diffusion tensor imaging, magnetic resonanc

Koz, Mitat/0000-0002-5793-6999WOS: 000336869700005Aim. Wrestling is a complex sports branch, which is dominantly anaerobic and necessitates maximal power, strength for explosive attacks during the competition. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the changes of body composition and anaerobic performance values according to weight categories of cadet wrestlers. Methods. One hundred twenty six elite wrestlers (age 15-17 years) participated to the study. The wrestlers were compared according to these weight categories (light, medium and heavier). The body composition was determined by using skinfold. The arms and legs anaerobic performance were determined by Wingate test. Results. There was no significant difference in relative leg peak power between light and heavier wrestlers, and between the medium and heavier wrestlers. There was no statistical significant difference in relative leg average power between the light and heavier wrestlers. There was no statistical significant difference in relative arm peak power between light and heavier wrestlers, and between the medium and heavier wrestlers. There was no significant difference in relative arm average power between the medium and heavier wrestlers. Conclusion. These results demonstrated that no differences anaerobic parameters between light and heavier wrestlers and significantly association between anaerobic parameters and %FFM. The coaches should take into account FFM rather than %FM especially for heavier wrestlers to obtain higher anaerobic performance
