Proterozoic amphibolites from Central Sector of Ossa Morena Zone: geochemistry and geodynamics implications
Se presentan datos de otras anfibolitas de zonas próximas a fin de comparar tanto su quimismo como su posible ambiente geodinámico.[Abstract] The amphibolites studied herein crop out in the Montemolín Series from Upper Proterozoic of the Ossa-Morena. This succesion is made of alternating biotitic schists and quartz-schists with interbedded amphibolites more common toward the top. The ensemble shows a regional, progressive metamorphism which varies from very low -low-grade up to high-grade conditions at the Monesterio migmatic core and is characterized by high - T and Low- P gradients. From a petrographic point of view amphibolites may be divided into sorne groups on the basis of both textural or mineralogical criteria. Actinolite-chloriteamphibolites are observed to grade into brown hornblende and pyroxenebearing amphibolites, the primary textural features of protoliths progressively disappearing.
Geochemical affinities of these rocks are oceanic, most of the MORB basalts being similar to N-MORB-types on the basis ofREE distributions. They could be ascribed to island-arc tholeiites. Geochemical data from other amphibolites at neighbouring areas are also presented with the aim of comparing their compositions as well as their geodynamic setting
Biological Role of Nutrients, Food and Dietary Patterns in the Prevention and Clinical Management of Major Depressive Disorder
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a growing disabling condition affecting around
280 million people worldwide. This complex entity is the result of the interplay between biological,
psychological, and sociocultural factors, and compelling evidence suggests that MDD can be considered
a disease that occurs as a consequence of an evolutionary mismatch and unhealthy lifestyle
habits. In this context, diet is one of the core pillars of health, influencing multiple biological processes
in the brain and the entire body. It seems that there is a bidirectional relationship between MDD and
malnutrition, and depressed individuals often lack certain critical nutrients along with an aberrant
dietary pattern. Thus, dietary interventions are one of the most promising tools to explore in the field
of MDD, as there are a specific group of nutrients (i.e., omega 3, vitamins, polyphenols, and caffeine),
foods (fish, nuts, seeds fruits, vegetables, coffee/tea, and fermented products) or dietary supplements
(such as S-adenosylmethionine, acetyl carnitine, creatine, amino acids, etc.), which are being currently
studied. Likewise, the entire nutritional context and the dietary pattern seem to be another potential
area of study, and some strategies such as the Mediterranean diet have demonstrated some relevant
benefits in patients with MDD; although, further efforts are still needed. In the present work, we
will explore the state-of-the-art diet in the prevention and clinical support of MDD, focusing on the
biological properties of its main nutrients, foods, and dietary patterns and their possible implications
for these patients.Fondo de Investigacion de la Seguridad Social, Instituto de Salud Carlos III PI18/01726

Predictive Model for Taking Decision to Prevent University Dropout
Dropout is an educational phenomenon studied for decades due to the diversity of its causes, whose effects fall on society's development. This document presents an experimental study to obtain a predictive model that allows anticipating a university dropout. The study uses 51,497 instances with 26 attributes obtained from social sciences, administrative sciences, and engineering collected from 2010 to 2019. Artificial neural networks and decision trees were implemented as classification algorithms, and also, algorithms of attribute selection and resampling methods were used to balance the main class. The results show that the best performing model was that of Random Forest with a Matthew correlation coefficient of 87.43% against 53.39% obtained by artificial neural networks and 94.34% accuracy by Random Forest. The model has allowed predicting an approximate number of possible dropouts per period, contributing to the involved instances in preventing or reducing dropout in higher education
School Certification Assessment Process: Implications to Quality Assurance in the Basic Education System
The school certification assessment process plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of education provided by educational institutions. However, this process is not without its challenges. This study explores some of the key challenges faced during school certification assessments and discusses some implications for quality assurance in a developing country. A survey research design using quantitative and qualitative methods was conducted with 40 junior high school faculty, staff, and administrators from four selected Education Service Contracting (ESC)-participating schools in San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines. An e-survey questionnaire was used online through Google Forms. Findings revealed that the recertification process presents significant challenges for ESC-participating schools, and some did not achieve the certified status because they did not meet the Department of Education (DepEd) minimum standards and Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) certification requirements. In addition, there is a lack of government support and incentives for the schools. The study recommended specific ways to address the issues encountered. By addressing these challenges, we can enhance the effectiveness and credibility of the certification process, ultimately leading to improved educational outcomes
