Hur sjuksköterskor involverar närstående i beroendevården

    No full text
Background: Today, alcohol and drug abuse is one of our biggest social problems. An addiction is a disease with overwhelming consequences for the addict but also its significant others. Social support from people important to the addict can reduce the risk of relapse and promote continuity of treatment in people with substance abuse and dependence problems. Purpose: To illustrate how the nurse involves significant others in the care of addicts. Design: Four semi-structured interviews with nurses working in addiction treatment was performed to illuminate their experience of how significant others are involved in the care of addicts. Results: Three themes could be seen and one of those had three sub-themes. These were Barriers to involvement (sub-themes: Restraining order, Secrecy and Lack of resources), Relationships and significant others and Functional involvement. The results showed that the involvement of significant others was functioning to a certain level but most of the findings could be found under the theme Barriers for involvement. While the desire to involve significant others were there the nurses where limited by various obstacles. Conclusion: All the nurses believed that significant others may have an important part in the care of addicts but found it difficult to involve them as often as they wished. The main reasons for this was the restraining orders of the department, secrecy and lack of resources. With better conditions and clearer routines of the department nurses should be better able to involve significant others in the care of addicts.

In our dynamic and complex world organizations are facing an increased demand for renewal and flexibility. Many organizations now shift to becoming agile. Large scale agile transformations are however difficult to practically implement. Moreover, combining hierarchical organizational structures and agile ways of working might be challenging. The aim of this study is to seek knowledge about which conditions that are affecting large scale agile transformations within a state agency. Three challenges and five success factors were identified for the model of analysis based on previous research within the field organizational transformation. Data was gathered through seven interviews with employees at Skatteverket. Based on the result of the study two new challenges and two new success factors were added to the model of analysis. The results show that decentralized development, value streams and synchronization of management have been prominent challenges for Skatteverket. Resistance to change and follow-up methodology were not as evident. The success factors pilot study, support from management, education and coaching, adaptation of culture, agile enthusiasts and implement strategy have been important for Skatteverket. Vision and communication were not as important

The psychological wellbeing within the veterinary profession in Sweden

The veterinary profession seems to be particularly affected by mental health problems than other occupational groups, primarily a consequence of exposure to various sources of psychological distress that is common within the profession (e.g., euthanasia administration, and client interactions). This article is the first to investigate the association between work-specific factors and wellbeing in the veterinary profession in Sweden. A cross-sectional survey sampled 280 (256 females) Sweden-registered veterinarians and nurses (235 veterinarians, 45 veterinary nurses). Multiple platforms and methods were used to increase diversity and inclusiveness in the sample. In this study, we investigated the associations between psychological wellbeing by including variables from several studies that have previously been associated with decreased wellbeing within the veterinary profession in order to get a more comprehensive picture of factors that may contribute to increased risk of mental illness. Results showed that, after adjusting for the influence of psychosocial working environment factors, except for variables related to euthanasia which were not associated with decreased wellbeing, measures indexing difficult client interactions were, on the other hand, associated with decreased wellbeing. Thus, negative experiences from client interactions suggest that these could be candidates for the development and maintenance of poor wellbeing among individuals within the veterinary profession. This research can potentially assist in designing more targeted intervention studies and serve educational purposes for both staff and future professionals.
