Channels selection in the retail banking sector: relationship between the factors influencing the usage and the perceived service quality
Quality is regarded as one of the main objectives to achieve in a successful organization, where the corporate policy is defined around of how to stay efficient while achieving the quality requirements defined by the consumer. Thus, companies in the banking sector are concentrating their efforts to achieve excellence, beginning with the service channels, which represent the point of contact with their clients.
This dissertation aims to deepen the study on the use of two major distribution channels: the traditional bank branch and the Internet, having as backdrop the perceived of quality of service. In this context, factors influencing the choice and use of banking channels were related to assessments of their quality, allowing to create segments of consumers and to draw strategic conclusions on areas where the service quality provided by the distribution channel is poor and needs attention from the bank.
The research methodology was based on a literature research on the following fields: banking marketing, banking distribution and perceived quality of the services provided. The study was conducted in two phases.
The first corresponds to the creation of a scale to measure the perceived quality of the two channels mentioned, through a Factor Analysis and Internal Consistency.
Finally, the second phase consists of applying a questionnaire to a final sample of 225 subjects and on the interpretation of data obtained through the Importance-Performance Analysis and also, through the non-parametric tests, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis and the Correlation Coefficient Spearman's Rho.A qualidade é considerada como um dos principais objectivos a atingir numa organização de sucesso, onde a política empresarial é definida em torno de como se manter eficiente sem deixar de atingir os requisitos de qualidade definidos pelo consumidor.
PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of triamcinolone as an aid in vitreous visualization during 3D-vitrectomy for the treatment of diabetic vitreomacular traction. METHODS: Prospective interventional study in patients with symptomatic vitreomacular traction. Pre- and postoperative assessments included visual acuity, retinography, intraocular pressure and optical coherence tomography. All patients were operated by the same surgeon (OOMJ). Triamcinolone was used as a visual enhancer during surgery. The parameters of the vitreophage (Accurus 800CS, Alcon) were set to the 3D- system (dual dynamic drive), contact lenses (plain and wide angle) being used for visualization. Peripheral 360º vitreous circumcision at high cut rate was performed, carefully releasing the vitreomacular adhesion at the posterior pole by means of an appropriate pic or vitreoretinal forceps. RESULTS: The sample consisted of five consecutive patients (five eyes), three female and two male, with symptomatic vitreomacular traction. Their age ranged from 54 to 71 years (mean 62.6 ± 6.3 years). During the surgical procedure, the areas with vitreomacular traction were properly visualized and identified after the application of triamcinolone. No complications were recorded during or after surgery. There was a statistically significant improvement in visual acuity after the surgical procedure (p=0.0313). CONCLUSION: Triamcinolone facilitates the surgical treatment of vitreomacular traction by improving visibility of both the vitreous humor and the vitreous-retina interface. Triamcinolone-assisted 3D vitrectomy proved to be an effective procedure in these cases.OBJETIVO: Avaliar a eficácia da triancinolona como marcador vítreo na vitrectomia 3D para tratamento da tração vitreomacular do diabetes.

Mutations of Bruton's tyrosine kinase gene in Brazilian patients with X-linked agammaglobulinemia
Mutations in Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) gene are responsible for X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA), which is characterized by recurrent bacterial infections, profound hypogammaglobulinemia, and decreased numbers of mature B cells in peripheral blood. We evaluated 5 male Brazilian patients, ranging from 3 to 10 years of age, from unrelated families, whose diagnosis was based on recurrent infections, markedly reduced levels of IgM, IgG and IgA, and circulating B cell numbers <2%. BTK gene analysis was carried out using PCR-SSCP followed by sequencing. We detected three novel (Ala347fsX55, I355T, and Thr324fsX24) and two previously reported mutations (Q196X and E441X). Flow cytometry revealed a reduced expression of BTK protein in patients and a mosaic pattern of BTK expression was obtained from mothers, indicating that they were XLA carriers

Astrometry of mutual approximations between natural satellites. Application to the Galilean moons
Typically we can deliver astrometric positions of natural satellites with
errors in the 50-150 mas range. Apparent distances from mutual phenomena, have
much smaller errors, less than 10 mas. However, this method can only be applied
during the equinox of the planets. We developed a method that can provide
accurate astrometric data for natural satellites -- the mutual approximations.
The method can be applied when any two satellites pass close by each other in
the apparent sky plane. The fundamental parameter is the central instant
of the passage when the distances reach a minimum.
We applied the method for the Galilean moons. All observations were made with
a 0.6 m telescope with a narrow-band filter centred at 889 nm with width of 15
nm which attenuated Jupiter's scattered light. We obtained central instants for
14 mutual approximations observed in 2014-2015. We determined with an
average precision of 3.42 mas (10.43 km). For comparison, we also applied the
method for 5 occultations in the 2009 mutual phenomena campaign and for 22
occultations in the 2014-2015 campaign. The comparisons of determined by
our method with the results from mutual phenomena show an agreement by less
than 1-sigma error in , typically less than 10 mas. This new method is
particularly suitable for observations by small telescopes.Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures and 8 tables. Based on observations made at the
