Symmetry breaking effects upon bipartite and multipartite entanglement in the XY model

We analyze the bipartite and multipartite entanglement for the ground state of the one-dimensional XY model in a transverse magnetic field in the thermodynamical limit. We explicitly take into account the spontaneous symmetry breaking in order to explore the relation between entanglement and quantum phase transitions. As a result we show that while both bipartite and multipartite entanglement can be enhanced by spontaneous symmetry breaking deep into the ferromagnetic phase, only the latter is affected by it in the vicinity of the critical point. This result adds to the evidence that multipartite, and not bipartite, entanglement is the fundamental indicator of long range correlations in quantum phase transitions.Comment: 13 pages, 19 figures, comments welcome. GAWPS: A MRST-based module for wellbore profiling and graphical analysis of flow units

Several graphical methods have been developed to understand the stratigraphy observed in wells and assist experts in estimating rock quality, defining limits for barriers, baffles, and speed zones, and in particular, delineating hydraulic flow units. At present, there exists no computational tool that bundles the main graphical methods used for defining flow units. This paper introduces an add-on module to the MATLAB Reservoir Simulation Toolbox that contains computational routines to carry out such graphical analyses, both qualitatively and quantitatively. We also describe a new secondary method defined as the derivative of the stratigraphic modified Lorenz plot, which we use to classify depth ranges within the reservoir into barriers, strong baffles, weak baffles, and normal units, based on flow unit speed over those depths. We demonstrate the capabilities of the “Graphical Analysis for Well Placement Strategy” module by applying it to several case studies of both real and synthetic reservoirs.Cited as: Oliveira, G. Engineers, geoscientists, and analysts can benefit from fast, easy, and real-time immersive 3D visualization to enhance their understanding and collaboration in a virtual 3D world. However, converting 3D reservoir data formats between different software programs and open-source standards can be challenging due to the complexity of programming and discrepancies in internal data structures. This paper introduces an open-source Python implementation focused on parsing industry reservoir data formats into a popular opensource visualization data format, Visual Toolkit files. Using object-oriented programming, a simple workflow was developed to export corner-point grids to Visual Toolkit-hexahedron structures. To demonstrate the utility of the software, standard raw input files of reservoir models are processed and visualized using Paraview. This tool aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the oil and gas industry in terms of 3D digital content generation and collaboration.Document Type: Short communicationCited as: Tosta, M., Oliveira, G. O estágio supervisionado em Geografia: o que nos provoca a Educação Intercultural?

    Get PDF

Aerobic Swim Training Restores Aortic Endothelial Function by Decreasing Superoxide Levels in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

    Get PDF
OBJECTIVE: We aimed to determine whether aerobic training decreases superoxide levels, increases nitric oxide levels, and improves endothelium-dependent vasodilation in the aortas of spontaneously hypertensive rats. METHODS: Spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) were distributed into 2 groups: sedentary (SHRsd and WKYsd, n=10 each) and swimming-trained (SHRtr, n=10 and WKYtr, n=10, respectively). The trained group participated in training sessions 5 days/week for 1 h/day with an additional work load of 4% of the animal’s body weight. After a 10-week sedentary or aerobic training period, the rats were euthanized. The thoracic aortas were removed to evaluate the vasodilator response to acetylcholine (10-10 to 10-4 M) with or without preincubation with L-NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride (L-NAME; 10-4 M) in vitro. The aortic tissue was also used to assess the levels of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide oxidase subunit isoforms 1 and 4 proteins, as well as the superoxide and nitrite contents. Blood pressure was measured using a computerized tail-cuff system. RESULTS: Aerobic training significantly increased the acetylcholine-induced maximum vasodilation observed in the SHRtr group compared with the SHRsd group (85.9±4.3 vs. 71.6±5.2%). Additionally, in the SHRtr group, superoxide levels were significantly decreased, nitric oxide bioavailability was improved, and the levels of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide oxidase subunit isoform 4 protein were decreased compared to the SHRsd group. Moreover, after training, the blood pressure of the SHRtr group decreased compared to the SHRsd group. Exercise training had no effect on the blood pressure of the WKYtr group. CONCLUSIONS: In SHR, aerobic swim training decreased vascular superoxide generation by nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide oxidase subunit isoform 4 and increased nitric oxide bioavailability, thereby improving endothelial function

Quantitative Proteomic Analysis Reveals Changes in the Benchmark Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis Biovar Equi Exoproteome after Passage in a Murine Host

Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis biovar equi is the etiologic agent of ulcerative lymphangitis. To investigate proteins that could be related to the virulence of this pathogen, we combined an experimental passage process using a murine model and high-throughput proteomics with a mass spectrometry, data-independent acquisition (LC-MSE) approach to identify and quantify the proteins released into the supernatants of strain 258_equi. To our knowledge, this approach allowed characterization of the exoproteome of a C. pseudotuberculosis equi strain for the first time. Interestingly, the recovery of this strain from infected mouse spleens induced a change in its virulence potential, and it became more virulent in a second infection challenge. Proteomic screening performed from culture supernatant of the control and recovered conditions revealed 104 proteins that were differentially expressed between the two conditions. In this context, proteomic analysis of the recovered condition detected the induction of proteins involved in bacterial pathogenesis, mainly related to iron uptake. In addition, KEGG enrichment analysis showed that ABC transporters, bacterial secretion systems and protein export pathways were significantly altered in the recovered condition. These findings show that secretion and secreted proteins are key elements in the virulence and adaptation of C. pseudotuberculosis. Collectively, bacterial pathogenesis-related proteins were identified that contribute to the processes of adherence, intracellular growth and evasion of the immune system. Moreover, this study enhances our understanding of the factors that may influence the pathogenesis of C. pseudotuberculosis.Fil: Marques Da Silva, Wanderson. The commercial opening, intensified after the 1990s, conditioned the internationalization of the markets.
