Method of measurements with random perturbation: Application in photoemission experiments
We report an application of a simultaneous perturbation stochastic
approximation (SPSA) algorithm to filtering systematic noise (SN) with non-zero
mean value in photoemission data. In our analysis we have used a series of 50
single-scan photoemission spectra of W(110) surface where randomly chosen SN
was added. It was found that the SPSA-evaluated spectrum is in good agreement
with the spectrum measured without SN. On the basis of our results a wide
application of SPSA for evaluation of experimental data is anticipated.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figure
Peculiarities of syntropic functional disorders of the digestive system against the ground of connective tissue dysplasia
A considerable occurrence of functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGID) in childhood, their frequent combination between themselves, the risk of transformation into organic pathology together with high collagen content in the digestive organs require investigation of pathophysiological relations of the pathology with collagen dysfunction. Objective of the study is to investigate the role of collagen disorders in FGID pathophysiology and assess their effect on clinical development of irritable bowel syndrome. 63 children suffering from FGID have been examined. Irritable bowel syndrome was diagnosed as a leading functional disorder of all the children examined. Syntropic functional biliary disorders were found in (38,46±6,13) % patients. By the results of molecular-genetic examination genetic polymorphism of COL3A1 rs1800255 with prevailing the genotype G/Đ â 47,62 % (95 % CĐ 35,04 â 60,2) was determined, that was most reliably found (Ń = 0,008) in children with syntropic functional biliary disorders and was associated with a wide range of comorbid pathology (Ń = 0,002) and pronounced dysplastic signs (Ń = 0,034)
Understanding hysteresis in carbon dioxide sorption in porous metal-organic frameworks
Two
new isostructural microporous coordination frameworks [Mn3(Hpdc)2Â(pdc)2] (1) and [Mg3(Hpdc)2Â(pdc)2] (2) (pdc2â = pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylate) showing
primitive cubic (pcu) topology have been prepared and
characterized. The pore aperture of the channels is too narrow for
the efficient adsorption of N2; however, both compounds
demonstrate substantially higher uptake of CO2 (119.9 mL·gâ1 for 1 and 102.5 mL·gâ1 for 2 at 195 K, 1 bar). Despite of their structural
similarities, 2 shows a typical reversible type I isotherm
for adsorption/desorption of CO2, while 1 features
a two-step adsorption process with a very broad hysteresis between
the adsorption and desorption curves. This behavior can be explained
by a combination of density functional theory calculations, sorption,
and X-ray diffraction analysis and gives insights into the further
development of new sorbents showing adsorption/desorption hysteresis
Use of the macrocyclic ligand cucurbit[6]uril for isolation of tetranuclear lanthanide aquahydroxo-carboxylate complexes from aqueous solutions
The tetranuclear lanthanide complexes {[Ln4(ÎŒ3-OH) 4(ÎŒ2-OH)2(C5NH 4COO)2 (H2O)4-(C36H 36N24O12)2][Ln(H2O) 8]1.5[Ln(H2O)6(NO3) 2]0.5} (NO3)9âąnH2O (Ln = Ho, Gd, or Er) were prepared by heating (130 °C) aqueous solutions of lanthanide nitrates, cucurbit[6]uril (C36H36N 24O12), and 4-cyanopyridine. The tetradentate coordination of the macrocyclic cucurbit[6]uril ligands through the portals leads to the formation of sandwich compounds, in which the tetranuclear hydroxo complex is located between two macrocyclic molecules. The polynuclear complexes are additionally stabilized by the chelating effect of the isonicotinate ligands generated by hydrolysis of 4-cyanopyridine. In the complexes, the aromatic moiety of the isonicotinate ion is encapsulated into the hydrophobic inner cavity of cucurbit[6]uril. In the absence of cucurbit[6]uril, the reaction with 4-cyanopyridine produces only the polymeric complexes [Nd(C5NH 4COO)3(H2O)2] and [Ln(C 5NH4COO)2(H2O)4]NO 3 (Ln = Pr, Sm, or Gd), whose structures were established by X-ray diffraction. In water and aqueous solutions of nonionic and cationic surfactants, irreversible changes of the tetranuclear fragment of the complex (Ln = Gd) were observed after storage for two days, whereas the anionic surfactant stabilizes the complexes. © 2006 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc
Malnutrition as a factor aggravating the heart failure course in the elderly and senile age
Cardiovascular diseases are the main death causes in the modern world. Heart failure (HF) is the terminal stage of most cardiovascular diseases. The prevalence of HF is increasing in patients of older age groups. At the same time, the number of geriatric syndromes increases with age, one of which is malnutrition. Recent studies demonstrate the mutually aggravating effect of heart failure and malnutrition, and that the correction of malnutrition can improve the heart failure course. The introduction of screening and timely correction of malnutrition will reduce the hospitalization and mortality rates in geriatric patients with HF
Polymeric hybrid iodoplumbates and iodobismuthates containing mono- and bisalkylated derivatives of 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene: Structural and optical features
© 2017 Elsevier B.V.Reactions of PbI2 with N-alkylated derivatives of 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene (bpen) MeBpenI and Me2BpenI2 result in 1D-polymeric complexes [{Pb(MeBpen)I3}] (1) and (Me2bpen)[{PbI3}]2 (2). For both compounds, band gap values were determinated experimentally; 1 demonstrates weak red luminescence. Binuclear hybrid iodobismuthate [Bi2(MeBpen)2I8] (3) was obtained by the similar scheme using BiI3 instead of PbI2

The work is based on the data from the case histories of 401 children with abdominal pain syndrome. To achieve the main goal, the "decision trees" method was used. The most informative criteria were identifed, using the eïŹective segmentation method for diagnosing FGID, namely the intensity, localization and episodes of the pain syndrome in the anamnesis, ïŹatulence, diarrhea, cystic symptoms, fever, sleep disorders, changes in the hemogram. The obtained results let to use the proposed algorithm to improve the efciency of early diagnostics of FGID on the primary link of medical care and to choose the most optimal route for the patient
Study of Spin and Decay-Plane Correlations of W Bosons in the e+e- -> W+W- Process at LEP
Data collected at LEP at centre-of-mass energies \sqrt(s) = 189 - 209 GeV are
used to study correlations of the spin of W bosons using e+e- -> W+W- -> lnqq~
events. Spin correlations are favoured by data, and found to agree with the
Standard Model predictions. In addition, correlations between the W-boson decay
planes are studied in e+e- -> W+W- -> lnqq~ and e+e- -> W+W- -> qq~qq~ events.
Decay-plane correlations, consistent with zero and with the Standard Model
predictions, are measured
Ultrarelativistic sources in nonlinear electrodynamics
The fields of rapidly moving sources are studied within nonlinear
electrodynamics by boosting the fields of sources at rest. As a consequence of
the ultrarelativistic limit the delta-like electromagnetic shock waves are
found. The character of the field within the shock depends on the theory of
nonlinear electrodynamics considered. In particular, we obtain the field of an
ultrarelativistic charge in the Born-Infeld theory.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
Study of Inclusive Strange-Baryon Production and Search for Pentaquarks in Two-Photon Collisions at LEP
Measurements of inclusive production of the Lambda, Xi- and Xi*(1530) baryons
in two-photon collisions with the L3 detector at LEP are presented. The
inclusive differential cross sections for Lambda and Xi- are measured as a
function of the baryon transverse momentum, pt, and pseudo-rapidity, eta. The
mean number of Lambda, Xi- and Xi*(1530) baryons per hadronic two-photon event
is determined in the kinematic range 0.4 GeV < pt< 2.5 GeV, |eta| < 1.2.
Overall agreement with the theoretical models and Monte Carlo predictions is
observed. A search for inclusive production of the pentaquark theta+(1540) in
two-photon collisions through the decay theta+ -> proton K0s is also presented.
No evidence for production of this state is found
