Conditional Intensity and Gibbsianness of Determinantal Point Processes
The Papangelou intensities of determinantal (or fermion) point processes are
investigated. These exhibit a monotonicity property expressing the repulsive
nature of the interaction, and satisfy a bound implying stochastic domination
by a Poisson point process. We also show that determinantal point processes
satisfy the so-called condition which is a general form of
Gibbsianness. Under a continuity assumption, the Gibbsian conditional
probabilities can be identified explicitly.Comment: revised and extende
Tunable spin transport in CrAs: role of correlation effects
Correlation effects on the electronic structure of half-metallic CrAs in
zinc-blende structure are studied for different substrate lattice constants.
Depending on the substrate the spectral weight of the non-quasiparticle states
might be tuned from a well developed value in the case of InAs substrate to an
almost negligible contribution for the GaAs one. A piezoelectric material that
would allow the change in the substrate lattice parameters opens the
possibility for practical investigations of the switchable (tunable)
non-quasiparticle states. Since the latter are important for the tunneling
magnetoresistance and related phenomena it creates new opportunities in

Fe XI emission lines in a high resolution extreme ultraviolet spectrum obtained by SERTS
New calculations of radiative rates and electron impact excitation cross
sections for Fe XI are used to derive emission line intensity ratios involving
3s^23p^4 - 3s^23p^33d transitions in the 180-223 A wavelength range. These
ratios are subsequently compared with observations of a solar active region,
obtained during the 1995 flight Solar EUV Research Telescope and Spectrograph
(SERTS). The version of SERTS flown in 1995 incorporated a multilayer grating
that enhanced the instrumental sensitivity for features in the 170 - 225 A
wavelength range, observed in second-order between 340 and 450 A. This
enhancement led to the detection of many emission lines not seen on previous
SERTS flights, which were measured with the highest spectral resolution (0.03
A) ever achieved for spatially resolved active region spectra in this
wavelength range. However, even at this high spectral resolution, several of
the Fe XI lines are found to be blended, although the sources of the blends are
identified in the majority of cases. The most useful Fe XI electron density
diagnostic line intensity ratio is I(184.80 A)/I(188.21 A). This ratio involves
lines close in wavelength and free from blends, and which varies by a factor of
11.7 between N_e = 10^9 and 10^11 cm^-3, yet shows little temperature
sensitivity. An unknown line in the SERTS spectrum at 189.00 A is found to be
due to Fe XI, the first time (to our knowledge) this feature has been
identified in the solar spectrum. Similarly, there are new identifications of
the Fe XI 192.88, 198.56 and 202.42 A features, although the latter two are

Coordination and chemical effects on the structural, electronic and magnetic properties in Mn pnictides
Simple structures of MnX binary compounds, namely hexagonal NiAs and
zincblende, are studied as a function of the anion (X = Sb, As, P) by means of
the all-electron FLAPW method within local spin density and generalized
gradient approximations. An accurate analysis of the structural, electronic and
magnetic properties reveals that the cubic structure greatly favours the
magnetic alignment in these compounds leading to high magnetic moments and
nearly half-metallic behaviour for MnSb and MnAs. The effect of the anion
chemical species is related to both its size and the possible hybridization
with the Mn states; both contributions are seen to hinder the magnitude of
the magnetic moment for small and light anions. Our results are in very good
agreement with experiment - where available - and show that the generalized
gradient approximation is essential to correctly recover both the equilibrium

Emission lines of Fe XI in the 257--407 A wavelength region observed in solar spectra from EIS/Hinode and SERTS
Theoretical emission-line ratios involving Fe XI transitions in the 257-407 A
wavelength range are derived using fully relativistic calculations of radiative
rates and electron impact excitation cross sections. These are subsequently
compared with both long wavelength channel Extreme-Ultraviolet Imaging
Spectrometer (EIS) spectra from the Hinode satellite (covering 245-291 A), and
first-order observations (235-449 A) obtained by the Solar Extreme-ultraviolet
Research Telescope and Spectrograph (SERTS). The 266.39, 266.60 and 276.36 A
lines of Fe XI are detected in two EIS spectra, confirming earlier
identifications of these features, and 276.36 A is found to provide an electron
density diagnostic when ratioed against the 257.55 A transition. Agreement
between theory and observation is found to be generally good for the SERTS data
sets, with discrepancies normally being due to known line blends, while the
257.55 A feature is detected for the first time in SERTS spectra. The most
useful Fe XI electron density diagnostic is found to be the 308.54/352.67
intensity ratio, which varies by a factor of 8.4 between N_e = 10^8 and 10^11
cm^-3, while showing little temperature sensitivity. However, the 349.04/352.67
ratio potentially provides a superior diagnostic, as it involves lines which
are closer in wavelength, and varies by a factor of 14.7 between N_e = 10^8 and
10^11 cm^-3. Unfortunately, the 349.04 A line is relatively weak, and also
blended with the second-order Fe X 174.52 A feature, unless the first-order

Two Gallium data sets, spin flavour precession and KamLAND
We reexamine the possibility of a time modulation of the low energy solar
neutrino flux which is suggested by the average decrease of the Ga data in line
with our previous arguments. We perform two separate fits to the solar neutrino
data, one corresponding to 'high' and the other to 'low' Ga data, associated
with low and high solar activity respectively. We therefore consider an
alternative to the conventional solar+KamLAND fitting, which allows one to
explore the much wider range of the angle permitted by the
KamLAND fitting alone. We find a solution with parameters in which the 'high' and
the 'low' Ga rates lie far apart and are close to their central values and is
of comparable quality to the global best fit, where these rates lie much closer
to each other. This is an indication that the best fit in which all solar and
KamLAND data are used is not a good measure of the separation of the two Ga
data sets, as the information from the low energy neutrino modulation is
dissimulated in the wealth of data. Furthermore for the parameter set proposed
one obtains an equally good fit to the KamLAND energy spectrum and an even
better fit than the 'conventional' LMA one for the reactor antineutrino

Zeros of the i.i.d. Gaussian power series: a conformally invariant determinantal process
Consider the zero set of the random power series f(z)=sum a_n z^n with i.i.d.
complex Gaussian coefficients a_n. We show that these zeros form a
determinantal process: more precisely, their joint intensity can be written as
a minor of the Bergman kernel. We show that the number of zeros of f in a disk
of radius r about the origin has the same distribution as the sum of
independent {0,1}-valued random variables X_k, where P(X_k=1)=r^{2k}. Moreover,
the set of absolute values of the zeros of f has the same distribution as the
set {U_k^{1/2k}} where the U_k are i.i.d. random variables uniform in [0,1].
The repulsion between zeros can be studied via a dynamic version where the
coefficients perform Brownian motion; we show that this dynamics is conformally

Determinantal point processes associated with Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions
International audienceWe study determinantal point processes on C induced by the reproducing kernels of generalized Fock spaces as well as those on the unit disc D induced by the reproducing kernels of generalized Bergman spaces. In the first case, we show that all reduced Palm measures of the same order are equivalent. The Radon-Nikodym derivatives are computed explicitly using regularized multiplicative functionals. We also show that these determinantal point processes are rigid in the sense of Ghosh and Peres, hence reduced Palm measures of different orders are singular. In the second case, we show that all reduced Palm measures, of all orders, are equivalent. The Radon-Nikodym derivatives are computed using regularized multiplicative function-als associated with certain Blaschke products. The quasi-invariance of these deter-minantal point processes under the group of diffeomorphisms with compact supports follows as a corollary
Towards New Half-Metallic Systems: Zinc-Blende Compounds of Transition Elements with N, P, As, Sb, S, Se, and Te
We report systematic first-principles calculations for ordered zinc-blende
compounds of the transition metal elements V, Cr, Mn with the sp elements N, P,
As, Sb, S, Se, Te, motivated by recent fabrication of zinc-blende CrAs, CrSb,
and MnAs. They show ferromagnetic half-metallic behavior for a wide range of
lattice constants. We discuss the origin and trends of half-metallicity,
present the calculated equilibrium lattice constants, and examine the
