Influential Article Review - Chief HR Officer as part of Senior Management Teams

This paper examines human resources and policy. We present insights from a highly influential paper. Here are the highlights from this paper: Having the director of human resources (HR) as a member of the top management team (TMT) and giving him/her the title of chief human resources officer (CHRO) indicates an important strategic and symbolic choice. Such decisions not only determine who participates in controlling an organization and setting its strategic direction, but also reflect the organizational structure. In this paper, we examine the antecedents of CHRO presence according to the contingency, institutional, and homophily theories. Based on a multi-industry sample of 215 firms that considers a 10-year period, we find that the presence of a CHRO is influenced by the rates of unionization, rapid declines or increases in numbers of employees, the employment of a new or outsider chief executive officer (CEO), and the institutionalization of the CHRO position in the industry or firm. However, we find no evidence of the presumed influence of knowledge intensity or the CEO or TMT human resource management (HRM) experience. Overall, we find that the institutional theory has the highest explanatory power regarding the existence of CHRO positions. Analysis of Cognitive Abilities in Female Swimmers

This study compared the differences in spatial relations, spatial ability, and reasoning ability between female swimmers and sedentary people. Fifty-eight participants (24 swimmers and 34 sedentary females) were recruited to complete the PMA E & R tests (Primary Mental Ability Test) and the DAT-SR test (Differential Aptitude Test). Findings indicated that swimmers scored higher in spatial relations, spatial ability, and reasoning ability. The practice of competitive swimming appears to have a positive relationship with the spatial relation, spatial ability and reasoning ability

REFORMA DE LOS REQUISITOS DE ACCESIBILIDAD PARA EL EJERCICIO CONGRESAL EN EL PERÚ

El presente trabajo de investigación contiene el informe de “Reforma de los requisitos de accesibilidad para el ejercicio congresal en el Perú “. El objetivo en el que se enmarcó fue el de determinar si es necesaria una reforma de los requisitos de accesibilidad para ejercer cargo en el congreso del Perú, el tipo de investigación fue básico o puro porque se buscará producir nuevos conocimientos a partir de los existentes. Se trabajó con una muestra de 50 abogados constitucionalistas y expertos en materia constitucional., como técnica se utilizó la encuesta y como instrumentos de recolección de datos se utilizó el cuestionario que fue dirigido a abogados. Dentro de ello se determinó que si es necesaria una reforma de los requisitos de accesibilidad para ejercer cargo en el congreso del Perú.Tesi

Functional and in silico Characterization of Neutralizing Interactions Between Antibodies and the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus Immunodominant Antigenic Site

Molecular knowledge of virus–antibody interactions is essential for the development of better vaccines and for a timely assessment of the spread and severity of epidemics. For foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) research, in particular, computational methods for antigen–antibody (Ag–Ab) interaction, and cross-antigenicity characterization and prediction are critical to design engineered vaccines with robust, long-lasting, and wider response against different strains. We integrated existing structural modeling and prediction algorithms to study the surface properties of FMDV Ags and Abs and their interaction. First, we explored four modeling and two Ag–Ab docking methods and implemented a computational pipeline based on a reference Ag–Ab structure for FMDV of serotype C, to be used as a source protocol for the study of unknown interaction pairs of Ag–Ab. Next, we obtained the variable region sequence of two monoclonal IgM and IgG antibodies that recognize and neutralize antigenic site A (AgSA) epitopes from South America serotype A FMDV and developed two peptide ELISAs for their fine epitope mapping. Then, we applied the previous Ag–Ab molecular structure modeling and docking protocol further scored by functional peptide ELISA data. This work highlights a possible different behavior in the immune response of IgG and IgM Ab isotypes. The present method yielded reliable Ab models with differential paratopes and Ag interaction topologies in concordance with their isotype classes. Moreover, it demonstrates the applicability of computational prediction techniques to the interaction phenomena between the FMDV immunodominant AgSA and Abs, and points out their potential utility as a metric for virus-related, massive Ab repertoire analysis or as a starting point for recombinant vaccine design.Fil: Marrero Diaz de Villegas, Ruben. Sistema de control interno para mejorar la gestión del área de logística del Hospital de Apoyo, Bagua

El objetivo de la investigación fue Proponer un sistema de control interno para mejorar la gestión del área de Logística del Hospital de Apoyo, Bagua; para lo cual, se optó por una metodología de tipo básica, diseño no experimental, transversal, y nivel descriptivo con propuesta; donde la muestra fue equivalente a los cinco colaboradores del área de logística del nosocomio, a quienes se les aplicó una ficha de observación mediante un Check List, y una guía de entrevista al jefe del área; complementado con una guía de análisis documental con la cual se examinó información a la que se tuvo acceso. De esta forma se encontró que el sistema de control interno es deficiente por la carencia de un adecuado ambiente de control, actividades de control e información y comunicación; mientras que la gestión logística presenta deficiencias, principalmente, en un 77% en lo que refiere a la distribución y en un 70% en la programación. Con lo anterior se propone un sistema de control interno considerando el aspecto administrativo y operativo, en el primero con políticas para el área, un manual de organización de funciones (MOF) y documentos; en tanto para el segundo: la implementación de un software, un manual de procedimientos y conformación de flujogramas

Evolución histórica del modelo Escuela Nueva en Colombia

El siguiente artículo busca hacer una descripción histórica del concepto de Escuela Nueva y la evolución del mismo, y cómo este concepto se adapta en Colombia para ser implementado mayormente en los contextos rurales. Lo anterior visto desde una relación entre el enfoque Escuela Nueva, Escuela Activa y el constructivismo, mediado esto desde el ministerio de educación y siendo estructurado en componentes de formación, curriculares, administrativos y comunitarios. Por otra parte se plantea una descripción actual del concepto y se hace un análisis de las circunstancias que dentro de la práctica docente vive el modelo quizás por la misma desnaturalización que vive este por el afán de ser adaptado a las necesidades rurales y nuevas propuestas curriculares en la masificación de la educación que en ultimas lo que busca es cubrir un derecho contemplado dentro de nuestra constitución.The following article seeks to make a historical description of the concept of Escuela Nueva and the evolution of it, and how this concept is adapted in Colombia to be implemented mostly in rural contexts. The above seen from a relationship between the New School, Active School and constructivism approach, mediated by the Ministry of Education and being structured into training, curricular, administrative and community components.
