    Leadership style in knowledge-based culture: The competitive advantage approach

    In nowadays economy, knowledge becoming the primary bases of core competency and key to superior performance. Several reasons are advanced for the implementation of knowledge management (KM) within companies. These includes of the widespread digitalisation of business environments; the rise of time-based competition that require firms to learn as much as possible in very short periods; the globalization of operations; and the high incidence of mergers and takeovers. Thus, for these reasons, it is crucial for a company to explore any factors that can enhance the knowledge-based organization. The proper way in managing the knowledge will lead to firm’s competitive advantage achievement. In this paper, the leadership styles as important factors in enhance the practices of knowledge-based culture will be the main focused. Specifically, this paper is to address three main objectives. First objective is to discuss the important of leadership styles in association to organizational learning culture, the most excellent principal in order to manage and value knowledge. Secondly, this paper will explain the important of leadership styles in firm’s competitive advantage achievement. And lastly, this paper will further discuss the important of leadership role in inter-firm settings and it relationship to competitive advantage

    Audit committees and internal auditors: Using LMX for relationship analysis

    The purpose of this paper is to provide a theoretically-informed meaning for the ‘quality of the audit committee-internal auditor relationship’ construct and to provide a new instrument for its measure. Leader-Member Exchange Theory (LMX theory) is widely accepted in the management communication and management literature as one which can be used to explain the development of a leader-member relationship and the quality of such a relationship. The analysis will be grounded in the LMX literature, and in understanding of the relationship between the audit committee and internal auditors. This paper is a contribution to the literature as such application of LMX is a newly theorised initiative to enable researchers to improve our understandings of this important corporate relationship. The output of this analysis can be used for research which evaluates the quality of the audit committee-internal auditor relationship (AC-IA relationship)

    Keberkesanan penggunaan edubase dalam kalangan pelajar teknikal yang berbeza gaya kognitif, afektif dan psikomotor di Politeknik Malaysia

    Bahan bantu pengajaran yang digunakan secara bersesuaian dengan pelajar menyumbang kepada perkembangan pembelajaran mereka. Dalam dunia pendidikan teknikal, aspek kognitif dan psikomotor turut memberi kesan kepada kualiti pembelajaran pelajar. Kajian ini membincangkan tentang kesan penggunaan EDUBASE terhadap pencapaian dan minat pelajar yang mempunyai gaya kognitif, afektif dan psikomotor yang berbeza dalam topik Electromagnetism. Seramai 70 orang pelajar politeknik yang terdiri daripada 33 pelajar kumpulan rawatan dan 37 pelajar kumpulan kawalan telah terlibat dalam kajian yang menggunakan kaedah kuasi-ekperimen ini. Ujian kognitif, psikomotor, ujian pra-pasca dan kaji selidik telah diagihkan untuk memantau kesan penggunaan EDUBASE terhadap pelajar. Dapatan kajian ini telah dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik MANCOVA, korelasi Pearson dan skor min. Hasil dapatan dalam kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa terdapat perbezaan yang tidak signifikan secara statistik bagi skor pelajar kumpulan kawalan dan kumpulan rawatan. Namun, skor min menunjukkan kumpulan rawatan memberikan skor yang lebih cemerlang dan minat mereka juga turut meningkat dalam topik pembelajaran tersebut berbanding pelajar yang mengaplikasikan pembelajaran secara konvensional. Selain itu, hasil dapatan kajian juga menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan terhadap minat dan pencapaian. Di samping itu, EDUBASE yang diaplikasikan telah memenuhi keperluan dan minat pelajar. Secara ringkasnya, hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan EDUBASE sebagai alat bahan bantu mengajar dilihat berkesan dalam memberikan kecemerlangan pencapaian dan meningkatkan minat pelajar politeknik terhadap topik Electromagnetism

    A Conceptual Model of Developing a Measurement Tool for Hospital Food Service Operation in Malaysia

    This study aims to provide and identify the best tools for measuring the quality of food service in Malaysian hospitals. The discussion focuses on the models used to evaluate the performance of food service operation in hospitals, as well as review critiques, issues, and the latest findings. Many tools have been introduced in the previous studies. However, the decision about the best fit tool to measure the quality of hospital food service is still unclear. Future study should be conducted, and an empirical test that examines various dimensions, such as food and meal service quality, staff/service issues and physical environment must be considered in the evaluation.Keywords: hospital food service; patients’ satisfaction;  measurement tool; performanceeISSN: 2398-4287 © 2019.     Relationship between Openness to Experience and Perception to Political Organizations to Workplace Deviant Behavior

    This study aims to determine the relationship that exists between openness to experience (one of the personality traits) and perceptions of organizational politics to workplace deviant behavior. Research was conducted by collecting 263 responses from the civil servants in Pekanbaru, Riau. Applying the latest PLS 3.0 analysis tools the results of this research identified positive correlation between openness to experience and perception of the political organization to workplace deviant behavior. The perception of the organization politics has managed to moderate the relationship between openness to experience deviant behavior in the workplace.&nbsp

    [Image Influence on The Intention of Waqf to Hei] Imej Mempengaruhi Kecenderungan Berwakaf Kepada Ipt

    Higher education waqf fund is the best alternatives to the higher education institutions (HEIs) development and management. Funding through the waqf fund can reduce the dependency of HEIs on government allocation. This study aimed to examine the influence of image on the intention of waqf to HEIs. The sample consisted of 381 Muslim respondents aged 18 and over, in the district of Muallim where the HEIs were located in Perak, are selected using systematic random sampling. Data were analyzed using two statistical analysis methods, descriptive and inferential. Descriptive statistics consist of analysis of frequency, percent, mean and standard deviation using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) software. Inference statistics were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) software. The findings of direct relationship analysis showed that the image (β = 0.397, p <0.001) had a significant influence on the intention of waqf to HEIs. Thus, enhancing the image of the HEIs can influence the increase in the intention of waqf to HEIs. The study found that an excellent image of HEIs can attract the public’s attention to contribute waqf to the HEIs. Tabung wakaf pengajian tinggi merupakan antara alternatif terbaik bagi penjanaan dana pembangunan dan pengurusan institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT). Penjanaan dana menerusi tabung wakaf dapat mengurangkan kebergantungan IPT terhadap peruntukan kerajaan. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh imej terhadap kecenderungan berwakaf kepada IPT. Sampel terdiri daripada 381 orang responden Muslim yang berumur 18 tahun dan ke atas, di daerah Muallim yang menempatkan IPT di Perak. Teknik persampelan rawak sistematik digunakan bagi proses pengumpulan data kajian. Data dianalisis menggunakan dua kaedah analisis statistik iaitu deskriptif dan inferens. Statistik deskriptif terdiri daripada analisis kekerapan, peratus, min dan sisihan piawai dengan menggunakan perisian Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS). Statistik inferens pula dianalisis menggunakan statistik Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) menerusi perisian Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS). Dapatan analisis hubungan langsung mendapati imej (β=0.397, p<0.001) mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kecenderungan berwakaf kepada IPT. Justeru, peningkatan imej IPT mampu mempengaruhi peningkatan kecenderungan berwakaf kepada IPT. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa imej IPT yang baik dan cemerlang mampu menarik perhatian dan minat masyarakat untuk menyumbang wakaf kepada IPT

    THE CONTRIBUTION OF UPPER LIMB JOINTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF RACKET VELOCITY IN THE BADMINTON SMASH

    The contributions of the upper limb joints in developing the racket-head velocity were calculated using the 3D video analysis technique. The performance of 13 male players in the single and double competitions during the Thomas/Uber Cup 2000 was recorded. The major contributor to the mean racket-head's linear velocity of 34.6 ms·1 at impact was the wrist (26.5 %). The statistical analysis carried out showed that the dynamics of wrist served to increase the speed of the racket at impact. However, the study showed no significant correlation between the racket speed at impact and the velocity· of the shuttlecock after impact. A relationship between racket speed and post-impact acceleration of shuttlecock did exist

    THE INSPIRATION OF CORPORATE INTERNET REPORTING: THE PERSPECTIVE OF MALAYSIAN CORPORATIONS

    Corporate Internet Reporting (CIR) is the communication process between corporations and stakeholders via the Internet medium.  The use of CIR by corporations is considered as a precondition for success, as it offers the facility to provide stakeholders with information to make well-informed and timely investment decisions.  This study examines the reasons that motivate Malaysian listed corporations to practice CIR.  The study was conducted on 310 publicly listed Malaysian corporations across eleven various economic sectors.  In gathering the data, a questionnaire survey was distributed to the preparers of CIR who are represented by the chief financial officers, accountants, finance managers or investor relations managers of the companies.  The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the independent sample t-test.  The results revealed that corporations’ acceptance of CIR as a norm in today’s business world was the most important reason to inspire companies to practice CIR.  In addition, the timeliness, high quality, downloadable and processable format of information presented, the aspiration of companies to be in line with technological developments, increased demand for CIR by stakeholders and the ability of CIR to reach a broader range of stakeholders in disseminating corporate information were other important reasons that inspired Malaysian corporations to practice CIR.  On the other hand, the study found competitive pressure and directors’ desire as trivial reasons in inspiring companies to practice CIR. Finally, the study contributes to the knowledge pertaining to CIR in Malaysia and might be useful as a reference for other developing countries in clarifying the nature of financial reporting problems. Keywords:  Corporate Internet Reporting, inspiration, Malaysian corporations
