    [Islamic Spiritual Orientation among Students with Disciplinary Problem] Orientasi Kerohanian Islam dalam Kalangan Murid Bermasalah Disiplin

    This study aims to examine an Islamic spiritual orientation among respondents who have disciplinary problems in school. This quantitative study involved 787 secondary school students who have been selected through purposive sampling method. An Islamic Spiritual Questionnaire was used to identify the level of Islamic spiritual orientation. Percentage, mean score, and correlation were used to analyze the data. The result found that there was no significant relationship between Islamic spiritual orientation with demographic aspects (gender, school location and the mother’s educational level) of the respondents. On the other hand, there is a significant relationship between Islamic spiritual orientation and demographic aspect (the father’s educational level). The finding also shows respondents in this study have a high level of Islamic spiritual orientation. This study shows the family institution, can be strengthened by mandating each couple to undergo a post-marriage courses by emphasizing parenting training. The study also suggests that Islamic Education curriculum in school needs to be reviewed specially to ensure students able to internalize the concept of Islamic knowledge and practically performed it in daily life consistentlyin the classroom. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji orientasi kerohanian Islam dalam kalangan responden yang mempunyai masalah disiplin di sekolah. Kajian kuantitatif ini melibatkan 787 responden murid sekolah menengah yang dipilih secara rawak. Soal Selidik Kerohanian Islam (SSKI) digunakan untuk mengenalpasti tahap orientasi kerohanian Islam. Peratusan, skor min dan korelasi digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil kajian menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara orientasi kerohanian Islam dengan aspek demografi (jantina, lokasi sekolah dan tahap pendidikan ibu) responden. Sebaliknya, wujud hubungan yang signifikan antara orientasi kerohanian Islam dengan aspek demografi (tahap pendidikan bapa). Dapatan juga menunjukkan responden dalam kajian ini mempunyai tahap orientasi kerohanian Islam yang tinggi. Dapatan ini menunjukkan institusi keluarga dapat diperkukuhkan dengan mewajibkan setiap pasangan yang telah berkahwin melalui kursus pasca-perkahwinan dengan memberi penekanan kepada latihan keibubapaan. Kajian ini juga mencadangkan bahawa kurikulum Pendidikan Islam di sekolah perlu dikaji semula terutama dalam memastikan penghayatan pelajar terhadap konsep asas pengetahuan Agama Islam dan melaksanakannya dalam kehidupan harian secara konsisten. &nbsp

    Kajian Tentang Kepuasan Bekerja Dalam Kalangan Guru-Guru Pendidikan Khas (A Study On Job Satisfaction Among Special Education Teachers)

    Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk mengkaji tahap kepuasan bekerja berdasarkan faktor-faktor (a) imbuhan, (b) tugas, dan (c) persekitaran kerja dalam kalangan guru-guru pendidikan khas mengikut jantina, tempoh pengalaman mengajar dan kelulusan tertinggi dalam pendidikan khas. Sampel kajian ialah 115 orang guru pendidikan khas di beberapa buah sekolah rendah dan menengah di Perlis. Instrumen yang digunakan ialah Soal Selidik Kepuasan Bekerja Guru yang telah diterjemah daripada Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (TJSQ). Instrumen ini mempunyai 66 item yang merangkumi sembilan subskala iaitu penyeliaan, rakan sekerja, suasana tempat kerja, gaji, tanggungjawab, kerja, kenaikan pangkat, keselamatan dan pengiktirafan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Ujian-t dan Ujian ANOVA. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan dalam min kepuasan bekerja berdasarkan faktor-faktor imbuhan, tugas dan persekitaran kerja mengikut jantina, tempoh pengalaman mengajar dan kelulusan tertinggi Pendidikan Khas dalam kalangan guru-guru pendidikan khas

    Penguasaan Jawi Dan Hubungannya Dengan Minat Dan Pencapaian Pelajar Dalam Pendidikan Islam

    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara penguasaan Jawi dengan pencapaian dan minat pelajar dalam Pendidikan Islam. Subjek kajian seramai 400 orang pelajar Tingkatan 2 dan Tingkatan 4 daripada dua buah sekolah menengah di Shah Alam dan Kuala Lumpur. Kaedah penyelidikan ''survey'' digunakan untuk mengumpul data. Alat kajian yang digunakan ialah: (i) Ujian penguasaan Jawi yang menguji kemahiran menulis dan mengeja Jawi, ujian menjawab soalan aneka pilihan, ujian kemahiran menulis soalan esei dan ujian menulis ayat al-Quran, (ii) Soal selidik, iaitu tentang latar belakang pelajar, minat pelajar terhadap Pendidikan Islam, pencapaian pelajar dalam peperiksaan Pendidikan Islam, cara pelajar belajar Pendidikan Islam dan cara guru mengajar Pendidikan Islam. Dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa: (i) Penguasaan pelajar dalam Jawi adalah lemah terutama dalam aspek-aspek yang diuji. (ii) Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara penguasaan Jawi dan pencapaian pelajar dalam Pendidikan Islam. Dapatan juga dapat menunjukkan sama ada pelajar itu berada dalam kategori lemah, sederhana atau baik dalam penguasaan Jawi, minat mereka terhadap Pendidikan Islam adalah rendah

    How Does Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Reduce Burnout Among Academicians from Malaysian Research Universities? A Systematic Review

    The prevalence of burnout among academicians in Malaysian Research Universities (RUs) is a growing concern in contemporary times. The confluence of high job demands, and limited job resources has contributed to heightened levels of burnout among this population. Recognizing the urgency of addressing this issue, the present study conducts a systematic review to examine the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in reducing burnout levels among academicians in RUs in Malaysia. Through a comprehensive analysis of relevant literature, a limited number of studies meeting the inclusion criteria were identified and reviewed. The findings of the study demonstrate that ACT holds promise as an effective intervention for decreasing burnout levels among academicians, while simultaneously enhancing psychological flexibility. The implications of this study extend to both scholars and experts invested in mitigating the pervasiveness of burnout among academicians in Malaysian RUs, offering valuable insights for the development of targeted interventions and strategies

    Integration of Muhasabah Concept and Scaling Question Technique in Counselling

    This research discusses about the integration of muhasabah concept and scaling question technique. The integration is made based on the integrative model combining Western and Islamic approaches. For Islamic approach, the concept of muhasabah is explained. Muhasabah is one of the concepts introduced in Al-Ghazali’s Tazkiyyah Annafs approach. Muhasabah in this research is a process of self-evaluation that leads to client’s actions. Two opinions about muhasabah is reviewed in this research; which are the opinions of Ibnu Qayyim and Al-Ghazali. From the Western approach, the technique of scaling question is elaborated. Scaling question technique is one of the questioning techniques in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This technique explains about the importance of measuring method using numbers in the process of self-evaluation that leads to change.     The role of spirituality and resilience among Yemeni refugee students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

    The purpose of this article was to explore the role of spirituality and resilience in coping and adaptation among Yemeni refugee students. This qualitative study aimed to explore the themes of spirituality and resilience that emerged among Yemeni refugee students who have experienced from conditions of war after the war that began in Yemen in 2015. This study applied in-depth, semi-structured interviews to explore the themes through qualitative interviews with Yemeni refugee students in Saudi Arabia. Thematic analysis was used to determine the role of spirituality and resilience in coping and adaptation. The study showed that Yemeni refugee students commonly use five main coping and adaptation methods to improve their lives in the host country.

    Kajian ini bertujuan mengkaji personaliti ekstrovert dan introvert dalam kalangan pelajar pintar cerdas akademik (PCA). Personaliti ekstrovert dan introvert telah dibahagikan kepada tiga trait iaitu trait aktiviti, trait bersosial dan trait mengambil risiko. Perbandingan personaliti berdasarkan jantina dibuat bagi melihat perbezaan jenis personaliti ini dalam kalangan pelajar PCA yang berlainan jantina. Sampel-sampel dipilih secara purposif di Sekolah Harian Biasa, Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP) dan Sekolah Menengah Sains Mara (MRSM). Seramai 177 sampel dipilih yang terdiri daripada pelajar-pelajar cemerlang yang memperolehi semua A dalam semua mata pelajaran yang diambil pada peringkat peperiksaan Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR). Instrumen Eysenck Personaliti Questionaires (EPQ) telah digunakan bagi tujuan kajian ini. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan kaedah statistik deskriftif dan inferensi. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa sukar untuk mengklasifikasikan sama ada PCA merupakan pelajar yang berpersonaliti ekstrovert atau sebaliknya. Hal ini berlaku kerana setiap pelajar adalah unik

    The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on History Subject Achievement of Secondary School Students: Quasi Experimental

    The study investigated the impact of emotional intelligence on academic achievement of secondary school students in Kota Setar, Malaysia. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement among secondary school students. A sample of 173 participants randomly selected from four secondary schools was used. The schools were randomly assigned to the two treatment conditions (with and without emotional intelligence activities module) and control group. Questionnaire and achievement test were employed to generate data for the study. Two research hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The hypotheses were tested using descriptive statistical method, split plot ANOVA (SPANOVA). The study revealed that there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence skills and academic achievement such that developing emotional intelligence skills of a student will lead to the enhancement of his/her academic achievement. The findings of this study may assist stakeholders in the education sector in developing a better understanding of the effects of emotional intelligence on the academic achievement of secondary school students
