Las prácticas de lectura en estudiantes universitarios
This is a preliminary exploratory study of reading among university students. It aims to analyze their actual reading practices, not the reading skill itself. We describe the study-related reading practices of a sample of 243 psychology students and 156 teacher trainees from the University of Barcelona, applying un indirect measurement test of their exposure to written material and establishing a correlation between exposure and academic level. We also describe types of material support that students use during study-related reading. The analysis of our own students' study-related reading is not only a theoretically and methodologically complex task, but an academically committed one as well, since it involves an examination of our own teaching system.

Treballs Finals de Grau d'Enginyeria Informàtica, Facultat de Matemàtiques, Universitat de Barcelona, Any: 2020, Director: Josep Vañó Chic[en] The project, which is developed by the company QubiQ, is based on the analysis, design, implementation and validation of an intranet interface within a company's website that provides the possibility of working with external collaborators in an efficient manner, with each collaborator being able to manage the information of the tasks that the company assigns to them. The company that needs this intranet uses the company management software called Odoo as its
working tool. The HTML , Javascript and Python programming languages have been used to implement the website part. On the other hand, the XML and Python languages have been used to develop the interface offered by Odoo to visualize the database. MySQL is used for database management.
This intranet offers the company's external collaborators a form for sending their personal data to the company. The collaborator user will be able to register his contact details, as well as his bank details in order to be able to invoice the tasks he carries out himself. To be able to visualize and carry out the tasks that the company requests from the collaborators, they can use a task manager in which they see all the tasks that the company assigns to them. Once the collaborators have the tasks assigned to them, they have the option of deciding whether to accept or reject the tasks, easily and quickly. For each task, the collaborators can communicate with the company to request more information about it or solve doubts through a chat.
Once the external users finish the task, it will be validated by the company and then the collaborator will be able to decide when to invoice it. The invoicing of tasks is done through a selector where users can select which tasks they want to invoice and create an invoice, which will be sent to the company to be accepted. From the website, external collaborators can review the status of their invoices and also have the possibility of printing invoices. The design of this intranet is simple, since from the home page users can directly access the management of their contact details, the visualization of their tasks, the invoicing of the tasks already carried out or the list of their invoices. In this way, the management of information within the intranet is easy and very direct, so the user can work quickly and comfortably
Accounting for Almond Crop Water Use under Different Irrigation Regimes with a Two-Source Energy Balance Model and Copernicus-Based Inputs
Accounting for water use in agricultural fields is of vital importance for the future prospects for enhancing water use efficiency. Remote sensing techniques, based on modelling surface energy fluxes, such as the two-source energy balance (TSEB), were used to estimate actual evapotranspiration (ETa) on the basis of shortwave and thermal data. The lack of high temporal and spatial resolution of satellite thermal infrared (TIR) missions has led to new approaches to obtain higher spatial resolution images with a high revisit time. These new approaches take advantage of the high spatial resolution of Sentinel-2 (10–20 m), and the high revisit time of Sentinel-3 (daily). The use of the TSEB model with sharpened temperature (TSEBS2+S3) has recently been applied and validated in several study sites. However, none of these studies has applied it in heterogeneous row crops under different water status conditions within the same orchard. This study assessed the TSEBS2+S3 modelling approach to account for almond crop water use under four different irrigation regimes and over four consecutive growing seasons (2017–2020). The energy fluxes were validated with an eddy covariance system and also compared with a soil water balance model. The former reported errors of 90 W/m2 and 87 W/m2 for the sensible (H) and latent heat flux (LE), respectively. The comparison of ETa with the soil water balance model showed a root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 mm/day. Differences in cumulative ETa between the irrigation treatments were estimated, with maximum differences obtained in 2019 of 20% to 13% less in the most water-limited treatment compared to the most well-watered one. Therefore, this study demonstrates the feasibility of using the TSEBS2+S3 for monitoring ETa in almond trees under different water regimes.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Microbial factories for recombinant pharmaceuticals
Most of the hosts used to produce the 151 recombinant pharmaceuticals so far approved for human use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and/or by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) are microbial cells, either bacteria or yeast. This fact indicates that despite the diverse bottlenecks and obstacles that microbial systems pose to the efficient production of functional mammalian proteins, namely lack or unconventional post-translational modifications, proteolytic instability, poor solubility and activation of cell stress responses, among others, they represent convenient and powerful tools for recombinant protein production. The entering into the market of a progressively increasing number of protein drugs produced in non-microbial systems has not impaired the development of products obtained in microbial cells, proving the robustness of the microbial set of cellular systems (so far Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisae) developed for protein drug production. We summarize here the nature, properties and applications of all those pharmaceuticals and the relevant features of the current and potential producing hosts, in a comparative wa
Tesi
VLX-Stories: a semantically linked event platform for media publishers
In the recent years, video sharing in social media from different video recording devices has resulted in a exponential growth of videos on the Internet. Such video data is continuously increasing with daily recordings related to a wide number of topics. In this context, video understanding has become a critical problem to address. Video search and indexation benefits from the use of keyword tags related to the video content, but most of the shared video content does not contain these tags. Although the use of deep learning has become essential for image analysis in several areas, video domain is still a relatively unexplored field for these type of methods. On the other hand knowledge graphs as Freebase or WordNet store high quantities of information about the word and relations that can be used to disambiguate concepts and relate them through contextual information In this research project we search to explore and improve the understanding of video content through the use of automatic tagging models based on Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques, improved by the use of knowledge bases.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Linking media: adopting semantic technologies for multimodal media connection
Today's media and news organizations are constantly generating large amounts of multimedia content, majorly delivered online. As the online media market grows, the management and delivery of contents is becoming a challenge. Computational approaches can help to overcome this challenge by governing different applications such as content creation, production, search, and its promotion and distribution to different audiences. In this abstract we present a success story of the adoption of semantic technologies on the aforementioned applications, which are built on top of a semantic tagging framework, based on a Knowledge Graph (KG). The presented pipeline combines multimodal inputs into a contextual entity linking module, which indexes documents and links them to trends and stories developing on the news. We will describe how documents are linked and provided to media producers through Vilynx's platform, which is currently indexing over 20k media documents a day.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
