    A Systematic and Critical Review on the Research Landscape of Finance in Vietnam from 2008 to 2020

    This paper endeavors to understand the research landscape of finance research in Vietnam during the period 2008 to 2020 and predict the key defining future research directions. Using the comprehensive database of Vietnam’s international publications in social sciences and humanities, we extract a dataset of 314 papers on finance topics in Vietnam from 2008 to 2020. Then, we apply a systematic approach to analyze four important themes: Structural issues, Banking system, Firm issues, and Financial psychology and behavior. Overall, there have been three noticeable trends within finance research in Vietnam: (1) assessment of financial policies or financial regulation, (2) deciphering the correlates of firms’ financial performances, and (3) opportunities and challenges in adopting innovations and ideas from foreign financial market systems. Our analysis identifies several fertile areas for future research, including financial market analysis in the post-COVID-19 eras, fintech, and green finance

    TextANIMAR: Text-based 3D Animal Fine-Grained Retrieval

    3D object retrieval is an important yet challenging task, which has drawn more and more attention in recent years. While existing approaches have made strides in addressing this issue, they are often limited to restricted settings such as image and sketch queries, which are often unfriendly interactions for common users. In order to overcome these limitations, this paper presents a novel SHREC challenge track focusing on text-based fine-grained retrieval of 3D animal models. Unlike previous SHREC challenge tracks, the proposed task is considerably more challenging, requiring participants to develop innovative approaches to tackle the problem of text-based retrieval. Despite the increased difficulty, we believe that this task has the potential to drive useful applications in practice and facilitate more intuitive interactions with 3D objects. Five groups participated in our competition, submitting a total of 114 runs. While the results obtained in our competition are satisfactory, we note that the challenges presented by this task are far from being fully solved. As such, we provide insights into potential areas for future research and improvements. We believe that we can help push the boundaries of 3D object retrieval and facilitate more user-friendly interactions via vision-language technologies.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2304.0573

    10-Year Cardiovascular Risk in Hypertensive Patients: Insights from Central Vietnam Using WHO 2019 Chart

    Background: Assessing the 10-year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk is crucial for effective prevention and management. Despite its significance, information is limited on CVD risk among hypertensive patients in primary care in Central Vietnam. We conducted this study to estimate 10-year CVD risk in primary care settings and explore its associated risk factors, using the 2019 WHO CVD risk chart. Methods and Results: This cross-sectional study collected socio-demographic and clinical data through a standardized questionnaire. Cardiovascular risk was estimated using the WHO CVD risk charts for Southeast Asia. The prevalence of low, moderate, and high CVD risk was 52.1%, 38.9%, and 9.0%, respectively. Notably, men had significantly higher rates of moderate (48.6%) and high (17.6%) CVD risk than women (31.4 and 2.4%, respectively) (P=0.000). Age was a significant factor, with an increasing prevalence of moderate and high CVR as age advanced. Specifically, the 50-59 age group had a moderate risk of 18.6%, rising to 69.9% in the 70-74 age group. High CVD risk increased from 0.6% to 27.6% in the same age groups. Lower educational levels were associated with a higher proportion of moderate CVD risk. Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption were linked to elevated CVD risks (25.0% and 30.0%, respectively), surpassing those without these behaviors. Similar trends were observed for individuals with diabetes, high total cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Conclusion: Approximately one-tenth of hypertensive patients face a high risk of developing CVDs within the next 10 years. A comprehensive approach, encompassing behavioral changes and the management of metabolic risk factors, is essential to reduce CVD risk effectively

    A Bibliometric Analysis of the Global Research Trend in Child Maltreatment

    Child maltreatment remains a major health threat globally that requires the understanding of socioeconomic and cultural contexts to craft effective interventions. However, little is known about research agendas globally and the development of knowledge-producing networks in this field of study. This study aims to explore the bibliometric overview on child maltreatment publications to understand their growth from 1916 to 2018. Data from the Web of Science Core Collection were collected in May 2018. Only research articles and reviews written in the English language were included, with no restrictions by publication date. We analyzed publication years, number of papers, journals, authors, keywords and countries, and presented the countries collaboration and co-occurrence keywords analysis. From 1916 to 2018, 47, 090 papers (53.0% in 2010–2018) were published in 9442 journals. Child Abuse & Neglect (2576 papers; 5.5%); Children and Youth Services Review (1130 papers; 2.4%) and Pediatrics (793 papers, 1.7%) published the most papers. The most common research areas were Psychology (16, 049 papers, 34.1%), Family Studies (8225 papers, 17.5%), and Social Work (7367 papers, 15.6%). Among 192 countries with research publications, the most prolific countries were the United States (26, 367 papers), England (4676 papers), Canada (3282 papers) and Australia (2664 papers). We identified 17 authors who had more than 60 scientific items. The most cited papers (with at least 600 citations) were published in 29 journals, headed by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) (7 papers) and the Lancet (5 papers). This overview of global research in child maltreatment indicated an increasing trend in this topic, with the world’s leading centers located in the Western countries led by the United States. We called for interdisciplinary research approaches to evaluating and intervening on child maltreatment, with a focus on low-middle income countries (LMICs) settings and specific contexts

    Safety and efficacy of fluoxetine on functional outcome after acute stroke (AFFINITY): a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

    Background Trials of fluoxetine for recovery after stroke report conflicting results. The Assessment oF FluoxetINe In sTroke recoverY (AFFINITY) trial aimed to show if daily oral fluoxetine for 6 months after stroke improves functional outcome in an ethnically diverse population. Methods AFFINITY was a randomised, parallel-group, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial done in 43 hospital stroke units in Australia (n=29), New Zealand (four), and Vietnam (ten). Eligible patients were adults (aged ≄18 years) with a clinical diagnosis of acute stroke in the previous 2–15 days, brain imaging consistent with ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke, and a persisting neurological deficit that produced a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 1 or more. Patients were randomly assigned 1:1 via a web-based system using a minimisation algorithm to once daily, oral fluoxetine 20 mg capsules or matching placebo for 6 months. Patients, carers, investigators, and outcome assessors were masked to the treatment allocation. The primary outcome was functional status, measured by the mRS, at 6 months. The primary analysis was an ordinal logistic regression of the mRS at 6 months, adjusted for minimisation variables. Primary and safety analyses were done according to the patient's treatment allocation. The trial is registered with the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry, ACTRN12611000774921. Findings Between Jan 11, 2013, and June 30, 2019, 1280 patients were recruited in Australia (n=532), New Zealand (n=42), and Vietnam (n=706), of whom 642 were randomly assigned to fluoxetine and 638 were randomly assigned to placebo. Mean duration of trial treatment was 167 days (SD 48·1). At 6 months, mRS data were available in 624 (97%) patients in the fluoxetine group and 632 (99%) in the placebo group. The distribution of mRS categories was similar in the fluoxetine and placebo groups (adjusted common odds ratio 0·94, 95% CI 0·76–1·15; p=0·53). Compared with patients in the placebo group, patients in the fluoxetine group had more falls (20 [3%] vs seven [1%]; p=0·018), bone fractures (19 [3%] vs six [1%]; p=0·014), and epileptic seizures (ten [2%] vs two [<1%]; p=0·038) at 6 months. Interpretation Oral fluoxetine 20 mg daily for 6 months after acute stroke did not improve functional outcome and increased the risk of falls, bone fractures, and epileptic seizures. These results do not support the use of fluoxetine to improve functional outcome after stroke

    Impact of climate change on streamflow and water quality in the upper Dong Nai river basin, Vietnam

    In this study, we investigated the impact of climate change on streamflow and water quality (TSS, T-N, and T-P loads) in the upper Dong Nai River Basin using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) hydrological model. The calibration and validation results indicated that the SWAT model is a reasonable tool for simulating streamflow and water quality for this basin. Based on the well-calibrated SWAT model, the responses of streamflow, sediment load, and nutrient load to climate change were simulated. Climate change scenarios (RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5) were developed from five GCM simulations (CanESM2, CNRM-CM5, HadGEM2-AO, IPSL-CM5A-LR, and MPI-ESM-MR) using the delta change method. The results indicated that climate in the study area would become warmer and wetter in the future. Climate change leads to increases in streamflow, sediment load, T-N load, and T-P load. Besides that, the impacts of climate change would exacerbate serious problems related to water shortage in the dry season and soil erosion and degradation in the wet season. In addition, it is indicated that changes in sediment yield and nutrient load due to climate change are larger than the corresponding changes in streamflow

    Interactive Sub-Task Focus: LifeInsight’s Contribution to NTCIR-17 Lifelog-5

    The rise of digital storage technology and portable sensors has led to an increase in lifelogging, where individuals digitally record their personal experiences. This has opened up new research opportunities in lifelog data retrieval. However, the real-time and automatic recording of data by sensors presents unique challenges compared to traditional search engines, particularly in data organization and search. The highly personalized nature of the dataset also necessitates the consideration of user interactions and feedback in the search engine. In this paper, we present LifeInsight, a robust lifelog retrieval system designed specifically for the NTCIR17 Lifelog-5 Task. Originally developed for the Lifelog Search Challenge (LSC), the system has been adapted and optimized to address the unique requirements of the Lifelog Semantic Access Task (LSAT). Of the two tasks within NTCIR17 Lifelog-5, our primary focus is on the interactive sub-task, which involves evaluating LifeInsight's performance under different user interaction approaches employed by various users. Therefore, a comprehensive user study was conducted to evaluate the LifeInsight system encompassed both expert and novice users across various settings, including ad-hoc and known-item-search scenarios
