Interdisciplinary research papers: economics of copyright: challenges and perspectives

    Get PDF
This article outlines the prominence of economic analysis of copyright, not only within the academic community, but also in the legal practice. The successful cooperation of law and economics in the field of copyright calls for advanced microeconomic analytical skills and a high level of legal understanding of intellectual property. The study highlights the central dilemma between access of copyright users and incentives to authors, by raising important issues under the umbrella of the microeconomics of copyright and macroeconomic consequences of piracy

The phenology of Deginia velebitica seeds, including such topics as maturation, dispersal and germination times, is still largely unknown. For the purpose of the present research, the seeds were collected in the Botanical Garden, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb and in the natural habitat (above Sibinj, Veliki vrh, Velika kapela mountain) at the time of natural dispersal. Freshly matured and collected seeds were placed under natural conditions (16–28 °C), at room temperature (24 °C), 21 °C and in greenhouse conditions (22/31 °C). Some of the seeds were placed at 5 °C for 3, 6, 9, 12 weeks and checked to see if cold stratification was needed. The most interesting part for the study of germination phenology was the exposure of the seeds to temperature conditions similar to those in nature (in the garden) and the definition of maximum and minimum temperatures of germination. Seed dispersal begins soon after maturation and all seeds (100%) are dispersed in one season. After 28 days, low percentages of germination, of 8.77% (at 24 °C), 6.66% (at 21 °C), 14.55% (at 22–31 °C) and 0% (at 16–28 °C) were found, indicating non-deep physiological dormancy (PD) in Degenia seeds. Non-deep PD is broken by cold stratification and by seeds being stored dry at room temperature (afterripening). The highest percentage of germination was at 22–31 °C, and the lowest at 21 °C indicating that Degenia velebitica germinates in late summer or early autumn. Seeds do not require light for germination, but germination in the light is 54% better at 22–31 °C, 35% at room temperature and 7% better at 16–28 °C than in the dark. The seeds collected in the Botanical Garden germinated 18%, 28% and 30% better at 22–31 °C, 16–28 °C than seeds collected near the place called Bile after 63 days of germination

Business Law Service in the Workplace as a Career Trend or To Wage Erosion - Minimum Wage

The research motivated by the importance of the minimum wage, and to make the relevance of this paper based on inconsistencies in the equality of legal regulation of the minimum wage. The purpose of the research is an overview of CEEC in the economic field/relations regarding the current demand for the minimum wage to the workplace. Methodology used are the dialectical method with the methods of formal-logical, system-structural, comparative legal and statistical analysis through the study of monographs, scientific literature, analysis of existing laws and regulations, data synthesis. Based on this research concluded that the importance of the level of payment, but not the inadmissibility of determining a payment less than the minimum wage. However, for the minimum wage to fulfil its economic, social and legal function today, it must be set at a sufficiently appropriate level

    Cichlid Size vs Flow Rate

    Get PDF
Cichlids are a diverse group of fish that are known for their prenatal and postnatal care of their eggs and frys (baby fish). This unique characteristic creates a limitation on the amount of eggs a cichlid can lay and protect, which is particulalry effected by the size of the eggs. Cichlids have a large variance in their egg size, which correlates to a large variance in their fry size. This project explores the trade offs cichlids make in egg size and fry size by specifically testing the ability of varying sized cichlids to swim in different flow rates. This could create a better understanding of cichlid evolution, particularly in the natural selection of characteristics based on their individual environments. This research project attempts to monitor the ability of a cichlid to swim in a flow inside a recirculating tank

Food Bioactives: Impact on Brain and Cardiometabolic Health-Findings from In Vitro to Human Studies

    Get PDF
none2siModern society is currently (and probably more than ever) immersed in the changing concept of food, seeking the beneficial functions of foods rather than only as a mean to quench hunger and support basic nutritional needs. In this context, we are facing a change in the expectations that consumers have from food items, accompanied by an increased attention towards food bioactive derivatives with health boosting properties. These emerging perceptions of food as a key discriminant in human health are fueled by the already strong evidence linking unhealthy dietary patterns with the onset and progression of several chronic diseases, ranging from type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) to cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. On the contrary, functional foods and their bioactive components may represent a nutritional cornerstone to improve the quality of diet and ameliorate or prevent (in some cases) nutrition-related diseases. Bioactives are unlike pharmaceuticals (compounds used to alleviate symptoms and cure disease). Nevertheless, the latest findings indicate that the clear gap between the two products (bioactives and pharmaceuticals) is becoming narrower and in some cases, they are becoming interchangeable. In agreement with the aforementioned considerations, the interest of the general population with respect to functional foods containing bioactive molecules is in constant expansion, which provides an impetus for research in this field. Indeed, several studies, including in vitro investigations, clinical trials and observational studies related to food and dietary patterns have already identified, proposed and in some cases, challenged the mechanisms of action of food bioactive derivatives. Therefore, the main aim of this Special Issue was to provide an opportunity to bring together high-quality manuscripts that showcase the current knowledge in relation to food bioactives and their impact on brain and cardiometabolic health.openNaumovski, Nenad; Sergi, DomenicoNaumovski, Nenad; Sergi, Domenic

Unemployment an Unauthorized Unique Road About Apathy and Poverty the Macedonian Man Without Knowledge and Skills

The topic was aimed at debating the reality that Macedonia as a welfare state and unemployment, ie poverty, constitutional freedom and the right to seek or work to protect from poverty. The aim was the different directions to the concepts of anomalies: unemployment, apathy, poverty, and knowledge related to the concept - Macedonian social state. The topic of socialization was relevant not only for Macedonia but also for all countries in the world now that we are in transition and transformation, dynamism and complexity of the activity of social processes. Macedonian current conditions have changed for the social order of the lost values of the previous rules by taking risks because they are inevitable and more complex. It is the beginning to its characteristics representing qualitative changes in morality, which has not led to turbulence. The lack of value, but also the normative solidarity of social existence, did not lead to a situation of threatening the state of the complex - integrity and autonomy

The kinesiological areas of education, sport, sports recreation and kinesitherapy of children and youth with hearing impairment present a methodological and didactical problem, which occurs due to the specific characteristics that people with hearing impairment possess. The communication aspect of the work with children and youth with hearing impairment is considerably limited. Therefore, to ensure an optimal and continuous kinesiological process, it is important to know all the specificities of working with them. The main goal of this paper is to outline some general recommendations and adjustments related to the work with children and youth with hearing impairment in kinesiological areas. Special attention will be given to the communication systems and the presentation of kinesiological terminology in the Croatian sign language in order to optimize the communication aspect. This professional paper is an introduction to a more comprehensive manual on the specifics of children and youth with hearing impairment in the motor environment, specialties of kinesiological education, with the addition of general recommendations and adaptations for work and a wider presentation of kinesiological terminology in the Croatian sign language. The basic knowledge on the methodological, didactic and communication approach to children and youth with hearing impairment in the field of kinesiological education, as well as other kinesiological orientations will be given to the educators, teachers and professors who are not sufficiently informed and adequately educated in this field during their studies, as well as to the current students of the same orientations
