Estudio de viabilidad de canteras de yeso mediante tomografía eléctrica

    Get PDF

Biostratigraphic analysis of the Eocene-Oligocene transition (E-O) at the Menzel Bou Zelfa and Jhaff composite section in the Cap Bon Peninsula (North East Tunisia) allowed us to recognize a continuous planktic foraminiferal biozonation: E14 Globigerinatheka semiinvoluta Zone, E15 Globigerinatheka index Zone, E16 Hantkenina alabamensis Zone and O1 Pseudohastigerina naguewichiensis Zone. A quantitative study of benthic and planktic foraminifera assemblages was carried out and the richness and diversity of foraminifera allowed us to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental evolution from marine to terrestrial environments. From the Eocene E14 Zone, the foraminiferal association characterizes a relatively warm climate with considerable oxygen content and a dominance of keeled and spinose planktic foraminifera, which became extinct at the E/O boundary, possibly due to cooling of the planktic environment. Nevertheless, the small benthic foraminifera do not show an extinction event at the Eocene/Oligocene (E/O) boundary, indicating that the benthic environment was not significantly affected. In the basal Oligocene O1 Zone, the benthic environment changes to a shallower setting due to cooling of the climate. These changes generated a remarkable dominance of globular forms in the planktic environment. Small benthic foraminifera apparently have a gradual extinction event, or more likely a gradual pattern of local disappearances, that could have been caused by the Oi1 glaciation

The importance of the use of organic sources in agriculture lies in that they are a source of bacterial life for the soil and are precursors of plant nutrition, they improve their physical condition and increase water retention. Composts and biofertilizer were elaborated in four rural communities of Tenosique, Tabasco, México, using as materials the organic wastes collected in backyards, pasturelands and around the communities, in addition to bioinsecticides from the aqueous extracts of Capsicum chinense Jacq., and Allium cepa L. Training workshops were carried out, obtaining two composts with desirable characteristics, a biofertilizer in 60 days and three bioinsecticides in four days with plant products to control pest organisms.La importancia del uso de fuentes orgánicas en la agricultura, radica en que son fuente de vida bacteriana para el suelo y son precursores en la nutrición de las plantas, mejoran su condición física y aumentan la retención del agua. In this paper, we present a graph-based semi-supervised framework for hyperspectral image classification. We first introduce a novel superpixel algorithm based on the spectral covariance matrix representation of pixels to provide a better representation of our data. We then construct a superpixel graph, based on carefully considered feature vectors, before performing classification. We demonstrate, through a set of experimental results using two benchmarking datasets, that our approach outperforms three state-of-the-art classification frameworks, especially when an extremely small amount of labelled data is used.Case Studentship with the NP

    Rotavirus and autoimmunity

    Get PDF
Rotavirus, a major etiological agent of acute diarrhea in children worldwide, has historically been linked to autoimmunity. In the last few years, several physiopathological approaches have been proposed to explain the leading mechanism triggering autoimmunity, from the old concept of molecular mimicry to the emerging theory of bystander activation and break of tolerance. Epidemiological and immunological data indicate a strong link between rotavirus infection and two of the autoimmune pathologies with the highest incidence: celiac disease and diabetes. The role for current oral rotavirus vaccines is now being elucidated, with a so far positive protective association demonstrated

A Quantitative Characterization of Nucleoplasmin/Histone Complexes Reveals Chaperone Versatility.

Nucleoplasmin (NP) is an abundant histone chaperone in vertebrate oocytes and embryos involved in storing and releasing maternal histones to establish and maintain the zygotic epigenome. NP has been considered a H2A-H2B histone chaperone, and recently it has been shown that it can also interact with H3-H4. However, its interaction with different types of histones has not been quantitatively studied so far. We show here that NP binds H2A-H2B, H3-H4 and linker histones with Kd values in the subnanomolar range, forming different complexes. Post-translational modifications of NP regulate exposure of the polyGlu tract at the disordered distal face of the protein and induce an increase in chaperone affinity for all histones. The relative affinity of NP for H2A-H2B and linker histones and the fact that they interact with the distal face of the chaperone could explain their competition for chaperone binding, a relevant process in NP-mediated sperm chromatin remodelling during fertilization. Our data show that NP binds H3-H4 tetramers in a nucleosomal conformation and dimers, transferring them to DNA to form disomes and tetrasomes. This finding might be relevant to elucidate the role of NP in chromatin disassembly and assembly during replication and transcription
