Market Structure: Concentration and Imports as Determinants of Industry Margins
The paper analyzes the determinants of price-cost margins following traditional industrial organization approaches. The price-cost margins are made function of the concentration index, and the degree of import penetration. We find that imports act as a market disciplining device that reduces the price-cost margins of the domestic industry. After trade liberalization, the impact of concentration diminishes. Controlling for cyclical behavior of the price-cost margins the paper shows that cross-section studies tend to bias the estimates. A distinction between durables and non-durables is made, finding strong evidence for concentration to affect the price-cost margins of durables.price-cost margins, import penetration, concentration, cyclical effects
THE STRENGTHENING ROLE OF ISLAMIC FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS FOR THE REAL SECTOR OF SMEs
The concept of Islamic economics that prioritizes for optimization of the real sector and makes the financial sector as driving factor of economic activity. Islamic financial institutions continue to provide services for working capital, especially for SMEs, reaching 5 percent. The SMEs also continue to grow to 10 percent, becoming an opportunity for Islamic financial institutions to be able to accompany the movement of SMEs. This article is descriptive qualitative. Described the development of shariah banking financing product for SMEs and the important role of Islamic financial institutions for SMEs. The results of the study show that the distribution of Islamic bank financing for SMEs in the period of December 2016 to September 2017 reached 61,299,000,000 or grew by 5.504 percent. The biggest financing for SMEs on BUS is equal to 44,872,000, the largest growth in UUS is 21,339 percent. The concept of Islamic economics has similarities with the economic concept of SMEs, both of which are resistant to the storm of crisis, then the concept of Islamic economics puts forward the distribution of income, through Islamic financial institutions income distribution can be realized. Performance of a Table Vibration Type Coffee Grading Machine
One of important coffee beans quality is the size uniformity. To confirm with the standart requirement, coffee beans have to be graded before being traded. Until now, grading process is still carried out fully manual, so that the grading cost is very expensive about 40% of total processing cost. Meanwhile, shortage of skill workers is as a limiting factor of the process. Therefore, machine for grading coffee beans is good alternative for grading cost. Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute has designed a table vibration type coffee grading machine for grouping of coffee beans in order to consistent quality and reduce grading cost. The machine has dimension of 272 cm length, 126 cm height, and 144 cm width. The machine has three primary components, i.e. grader table, combustion engine, and beam. The machine has three kinds of grader table that each grader table has different holes size, i.e. 7 mm x 7 mm for top grader table, 5 mm x 5 mm for axle grader table, and 4 mm x 4 mm for bottom grader table. Each grader table has dimension of 206 cm length, 105.5 cm height, and 14 cm width. The grading mechanism is by vibration grader table with the power source 5.5 HP combustion engine. The results shown that the outlet are in farms of three grades of coffee beans with connected to each compartement. Assessment of the grading machine reveals that the optimum capacity of 1,406 kg/hour reached when the speed 2,600 rpm and the angle 10O. Economic analysis showed that operational cost for grading one kilogram Robusta coffee beans with moisture content 13—14% wet basis is Rp 7.17
Pemetaan Potensi Pengembangan Produk Natural Uncertainty Contract (NUC) Pada Pembiayaan Produktif dan Produk Natural Certainty Contract (NCC) Pada Pembiayaan Konsumtif di Bank Syariah
Perbankan syariah di Indonesia terus mengalami pertumbuhan, terlihat pangsa pasar bank syariah sudah menembus 5 persen. Aset perbankan syariah pada akhir tahun 2016 sebesar 254.184.000.000.000. Pada sisi pembiayaan, porsi konsumtif masih mendominasi dari pembiayaan di bank syariah. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif, yang akan menguraikan perkembangan akad pembiaayaan NUC dan Pembiayaan NCC di bank syariah kemudian memetakan pembiayaan untuk konsumtif, produktif, dan investasi. Dari hasil penelitian ini menujukkan perkembangan akad NCC di bank syariah sebesar 14,039 persen. Dengan akad murabahah sebesar 133.956.000.000 dan ijarah 8.105.000.000 dan salam 25.000.000. Sedangkan pertumbuhan akad pembiayaan NUC sebesar 23,99 %. Akad mudharabah sebesar 15.263.000.000 dan musyarakah 71.710.000.000. Pembiayaan konsumtif mendominasi pada pembiayaan di bank syariah sebesar 40,57 persen atau sebesar 100.602.000.000. bank syariah perlu melakukan pemetaan terhadap produk pembiayaan. Akad-akad pembiayaan NCC untuk konsumtif dan akadakad NUC untuk kegiatan produktif (modal kerja dan Investasi)
Memahami Konsumsi Islami Upaya Meningkatkan Produk Pembiayaan Mudharabah di Bank Syariah
Perbankan syari’ah saat ini telah memiliki payung hukum yang kuat dengan hadirnya undang-undang nomor 21 tahun 2008 tentang perbankan syari’ah. Hal ini sangat berpengaruh terhadap eksistensi dari perbankan syari’ah yang semakin diminati oleh banyak kalangan. Bank syari’ah dikenal dengan konsep bagi hasil. Hanya saja produk bank syariah khususnya pada produk pembiayaan tidak semua menggunakan bagi hasil. Produk pembiayaan jual beli murabahah menjadi lebih dominan dibanding produk bagi hasil pembiayaan mudharabah. Kontribusi dari total pembiayaan di bank syariah mudharabah yaitu 6,558 persen atau 14.590.000.000.000, sedangkan pembiayaan dengan akad jual beli murabahah mencapai 61,663 % atau sebesar 137.193.000.000.000. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa bank syariah masih dominan menggunakan pembiayaan dengan akad jual beli. Bank syariah diharapkan bisa mengembangkan produk pembiayaan mudharabah maka bank syariah harus memahami dan mengetahui pola kebutuhan masyarakat dan konsumsi yang islami. untuk mencapai market share yang baru menembus 5 persen. Penulisan ini menggunakan jenis deskriptif kualitatif, Batasan dalam tulisan ini difokuskan pada produk pembiayaan mudharabah di bank syari’ah dan pola konsumsi islami. Tulisan ini menggunakan studi pustaka kajian dari berbagai sumber. Untuk meningkatkan volume produk pembiayaan mudharabah perlu memahami konsumsi yang islami. Hasil dari tulisan ini bahwa periode desember 2015 sampai oktober 2016 produk pembiayaan mudharabah di bank syariah mengalami penurunan sebesar -1,552 persen. Pola konsumsi islami memiliki banyak faktor dan bisa memberi pengaruh terhadap peningkatan produk pembiayaan mudharabah di bank syariah. Sehingga bank syariah perlu memahami konsumsi islami serta kebutuhan masyarakat dalam upaya meningkatkan potensi pengembangan produk pembiayaan mudharabah di bank syariah. Potensi pengembangan produk pembiayaan mudharabah di bank syari’ah masih sangat besar. Potensi pengembangan produk pembiayaan mudharabah masih sangat besar dan sangat luas.  Kata Kunci : Konsumsi Islami, Produk Pembiayaan Mudharabah, dan Bank Syariah

Pengembangan Program Studi Perbankan Syariah Berbasis Integrasi Peran Bank Syariah Bagi Sektor Riil UMKM
Sharia banking are interested in getting involved channeling financing to the real sector of SMEs, including Bank BNI Syariah Makassar and Bank Panin Dubai Syariah Makassar. The purpose of this study is to determine the development of SMEs financing provided by sharia banking. Then to find out the role of sharia banking for the distribution financing for SMEs in the city of Makassar. As well as to find out the form of integration of the development of the department of sharia banking UIN Alauddin Makassar, through the distribution of financing for SMEs in sharia banking institution. This type of research is a field research, by taking data directly. The nature of the research is qualitative. The data source uses primary data and secondary data related to the research theme. The data analysis technique used in this research is qualitative descriptive, which describes the objects in the study. The results of this study indicate the development of the distribution of financing in sharia banking reaching 15.93 percent. Then Bank BNI Syariah and Bank Panin Dubai Syariah Makassar channeled financing to SMEs sector, reaching 20 percent. The form of integration in the development of departement sharia banking is by presenting courses on object management of financing sharia banking and courses on SMEs business
