Purpose: To evaluate the reliability of standardized uptake value (SUV) normalized to lean body mass for maximum (SULmax) and mean values (SULmean) as well as maximum SUV values (SUVmax) in contrast-enhanced 18F-FDG PET/CT by assessment of inter-reader agreement, using the liver as a reference organ. Materials and methods: 272 images of baseline PET/CT scans were analyzed. A volume of interest (VOI) of 30-mm in diameter was placed by two independent readers in the right liver lobe to measure the parameters. An analysis was performed for the variance, intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), and Bland-Altman plots. Results and discussion: For Reader 1, the SUVmax ranging from 1.33 to 5.94 (3.20 ± 0.69), SULmean ranging from 0.84 to 3.46 (1.90 ± 0.40) and SULmax ranging from 1.18 to 4.07 (2.38 ± 0.50), were obtained; for Reader 2 the SUVmax ranging from 1.47 to 5.43 (3.20 ± 0.70), SULmean ranging from 0.84 to 3.45 (1.90 ± 0.40), and SULmax ranging from 1.18 to 4.48 (2.38 ± 0.50), were obtained. The coefficient of variance for SUVmax, SULmean, and SULmax, were 21.9%, 21.1%, and 20.8%, respectively, having no significant differences between Reader 1 and Reader 2. The ICC of the two readers for SUVmax, SULmean and SULmax were 0.975, 0.982 and 0.977 (95% CI of 0.97, 0.98 and 0.97; p < .001) respectively. Bland-Altman plots revealed that SUVmax gave the best agreement with 97.1% of measurements falling within 2SD. Conclusion: There is an excellent inter-reader agreement for liver SUVmax, SULmean and SULmax, and the best reliability of measurements achieved with SULmax in contrast-enhanced PET/CT scans

Herbal medicines have been gaining popularity as alternative medicines in recent years, including in Indonesia. Synthetic drug compounds can be illegally included in herbal medicines to achieve a faster effect. Detection of synthetic drugs in adulterated herbal products is important because of the negative side effects associated with shortand long-term use. Sildenafil, phenylbutazone, and sibutramine HCl are common adulterants in Indonesian herbal products intended to promote sexual arousal and performance, relieve muscle pain, and reduce weight. The aim of this study was the rapid and cost-effective detection of sildenafil citrate, phenylbutazone, and sibutramine HCl in Indonesian herbal products and herbal drug preparations by Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectrometer (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy combined with chemometrics. Herbs (aphrodisiac, muscle pain relieving and slimming herbs) and medicinal plants (Pasak Bumi (Eurycoma longifolia Jack.) roots, black pepper (Piper nigrum L.) leaves and West Indian Elm (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk.) leaves) were intentionally adulterated with synthetic drug compounds in the range of 0-40% (w/w). ATR-FTIR spectra were recorded for all unadulterated and adulterated samples at 4000 - 650 cm-1. Principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) were applied to analyze the spectra of the unadulterated and adulterated samples. All samples were successfully classified with respect to their synthetic compound content. The presence of sildenafil, phenylbutazone and sibutramine can be rapidly detected with simple and non-destructive sample preparation using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy in combination with chemometrics. In conclusion, this method can be used for screening sildenafil citrate, phenylbutazone and sibutramine HCl adulterants in herbal products and herbal powders

Characteristics of BSCF–SDCC–Ag composite cathode powder for low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell

    Get PDF
A fuel cell is a type of clean energy that may be utilised in various applications across numerous sectors. Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) has attracted considerable interest as a fuel cell type due to its excellent efficiency and durability. However, SOFC may encounter specific challenges because of its operating temperature, which is generally high. This circumstance might negatively affect the overall system performance. New materials that can work with SOFCs in the lowtemperature range (LT-SOFC) must be introduced to overcome the challenges. The milled barium strontium cobalt ferrite– samarium-doped ceria carbonate (BSCF-SDCC) composite cathode was introduced as a potential candidate for LT-SOFC material. Argentum (Ag) was added to the BSCF–SDCC composite cathode to act as a catalyst material for efficient performance. The characterisation of a BSCF–SDCC–Ag composite cathode was investigated under two properties, namely, chemical and physical. The X-ray diffraction results for phase identification showed that Ag addition exhibited compatibility with BSCF–SDCC composite cathode with no occurrence of impurities. The morphology and element observation showed that the composite cathode powder was well mixed, and all significant elements were uniformly and homogeneously distributed. The average percentage of porosity value was also obtained in the acceptable range (20%– 40%). Specifically, it ranged from 21.12% to 22.50%. Therefore, the findings of this study prove that the addition of Ag can improve the performance of the BSCF–SDCC composite cathode, which is in line with the function of Ag as a catalyst materia
