A spectroscopic study of the cycling transition 4s[3/2]_2-4p[5/2]_3 at 811.8 nm in Ar-39: Hyperfine structure and isotope shift
Doppler-free saturated absorption spectroscopy is performed on an enriched
radioactive Ar-39 sample. The spectrum of the 3s^2 3p^5 4s [3/2]_2 - 3s^2 3p^5
4p [5/2]_3 cycling transition at 811.8 nm is recorded, and its isotope shift
between Ar-39 and Ar-40 is derived. The hyperfine coupling constants A and B
for both the 4s [3/2]_2 and 4p [5/2]_3 energy levels in Ar-39 are also
determined. The results partially disagree with a recently published
measurement of the same transition. Based on earlier measurements as well as
the current work, the isotope shift and hyperfine structure of the
corresponding transition in Ar-37 are also calculated. These spectroscopic data
are essential for the realization of laser trapping and cooling of Ar-37 and
Ar-39
Fine Structure of the 1s3p ^3P_J Level in Atomic ^4He: Theory and Experiment
We report on a theoretical calculation and a new experimental determination
of the 1s3p ^3P_J fine structure intervals in atomic ^4He. The values from the
theoretical calculation of 8113.730(6) MHz and 658.801(6) MHz for the nu_{01}
and nu_{12} intervals, respectively, disagree significantly with previous
experimental results. However, the new laser spectroscopic measurement reported
here yields values of 8113.714(28) MHz and 658.810(18) MHz for these intervals.
These results show an excellent agreement with the theoretical values and
resolve the apparent discrepancy between theory and experiment.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure
Concurrent TNFRSF1A R92Q and pyrin E230K mutations in a child with multiple sclerosis
We report a 16-year-old female patient with a severe course of multiple sclerosis and concomitant symptoms suggestive of a hereditary autoinflammatory disease. Genetic analyses revealed that she inherited a TNFRSF1A R92Q mutation from her mother and a pyrin E230K mutation from her father. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a patient with severe childhood multiple sclerosis and mutations in two genes which predispose to hereditary autoinflammatory disorders. We speculate that these mutations contribute to early multiple sclerosis manifestation and enhance the inflammatory damage inflicted by the autoimmune response

Parton Saturation-An Overview
The idea of partons and the utility of using light-cone gauge in QCD are
introduced. Saturation of quark and gluon distributions are discussed using
simple models and in a more general context. The Golec-Biernat W\usthoff model
and some simple phenomenology are described. A simple, but realistic, equation
for unitary, the Kovchegov equation, is discussed, and an elementary derivation
of the JIMWLK equation is given.Comment: Cargese Lectures, 34 pages, 19 figure
A local limit theorem for the critical random graph
We consider the limit distribution of the orders of the k largest components in the Erd¿os-Rényi random graph inside the critical window for arbitrary k. We prove a local limit theorem for this joint distribution and derive an exact expression for the joint probability density function
