Active filter to improve the energetic efficiency in electric installations.

The Department of Electrical Engineering of the University Carlos III of Madrid has developed a prototype of active filter to compensate the disturbances that a nonlinear load produces. The active filters appears like the dynamic solution that best fits to the needs of compensation of electrical disturbances in industrial facilities. This active filter allows correcting the power factor of the installation. With this improvement, electrical consumes are reduced, which results in significant cost savings

Inductive Sensor for measuring partial discharges in electrical machines

The research group 'Diagnosis of Electrical Machines and Insulation Materials (DIAMAT) of the University Carlos III of Madrid, has developed an inductive sensor that can detect and measure partial discharge that are characteristic in electrical machines (its analysis allows to estimate the aging degree of the internal insulation)

Reformas y religión en las Cortes de Cádiz (1810-1813).

Las reformas aprobadas en Cádiz fueron solo medidas legislativas de corta duración. Algunas se realizaron años más tarde y produjeron un conflicto con la Santa Sede y la ruptura de relaciones. Esta conducta tenía antecedentes en el regalismo del siglo xviii. Años más tarde, las Constituyentes de 1931 fueron su máxima expresión. El poder civil podía y debía intervenir en la vida interna de la Iglesia y fijar, unilateralmente, su estatuto y su espacio públicos. Iglesia y Estado terminaron interpretando la situación como hostigamiento recíproco. Cuando el poder público fue débil, las críticas a la Iglesia derivaron en persecución y martirio de los cristianos por parte de lo que se viene llamando, abusivamente, anticlericalismo popular. UBURYO: open source software for managing microcredits in education

One of the major problems in developing countries is minority access to higher education. Traditional scholarships usually focus on paying tuition fees for bringing brilliant students to developed countries (from where they seldom return). But local grants seldom target the more needy students. We propose a system of student loans to pay tuition fees in exchange for technical work. This appears to be a satisfactory and sustainable solution. We also provide UBURYO (a Kirundi word meaning opportunity). UBURYO is the free open source software, that we have developed, to manage this loan system in a simple, trustworthy, fair and efficient way

El Dpto. de Energía Eléctrica de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid ha diseñado un prototipo de filtro activo para compensar las perturbaciones que produce en la señal una carga no lineal. Los filtros activos se presentan como la solución dinámica que más se ajusta a las necesidades de compensación de perturbaciones eléctricas en instalaciones industriales. Este filtro activo permite corregir el factor de potencia de la instalación, al estar la señal de tensión y de corriente en fase. Con esta mejora, la facturación eléctrica se reduce, consiguiéndose un significativo ahorro económico

Implementation of a frequency control in a biomass gasifier system

Distributed power generation has grown in popularity in recent years, especially in areas not connected to the national grid. As a result, rural microgrids are becoming more common, involving great potential for energy based on biomass conversion such as gasification. After analyzing distributed power generation facilities in developing countries, the authors found problems with the frequency stability. This paper focuses on solving the problem of frequency control in energy supplied by microgrids based in biomass gasification. For that purpose, the authors have developed a physical model of a downdraft gasifier, this model was used for design a novel strategy for frequency control, which has been based and validated on an existing gasification system, which supplies power to a population in Necoclí (Colombia)

Modernists were not a sect. Nor did they produce a system. For that reason, they did not recognize themselves in the Pascendi Dominici gregis. And judged unjust the hostility coming from those that identified Catholicism and antimodernism. They considered themselves as a group of friends. They exchanged and discussed their writings and their experiences. In the history of modernism their correspondence is of great value. They themselves understood it that way and kept the letters they wrote or received. For that reason it is necessary to go trough the works published since the sixties by the researchers of the Centro studi per la storia del modernismo of the University of Urbino.No fueron una secta los modernistas. No elaboraron un sistema. Por eso no se reconocieron en la Pascendi Dominici gregis y juzgaron injusta la hostilidad de quienes identificaron catolicismo y anti-modernismo. Se consideraron un grupo de amigos. Intercambiaban y discutían sus escritos y sus experiencias. En la historia del modernismo es muy importante su correspondencia. Lo entendieron así ellos mismos y guardaron las cartas escritas y recibidas. Hay que consultar, por tanto, las publicaciones que, desde los años setenta, han hecho los investigadores del Centro studi per la storia del modernismo, de la Universidad de Urbino
