    Construção e validação de um questionário para identificação de fatores associados ao desempenho escolar (FADE)

    Se construyó una prueba psicológica para medir los Factores Asociados al Desempeño Escolar (FADE), siguiendo lineamientos de la Teoría Clásica de los Test y aspectos de medición y evaluación desde una estrategia multi-informante aplicada a los contextos escolares. La finalidad de la prueba es la identificación de debilidades y fortalezas asociadas al desempeño escolar en niños de primer grado de primaria del municipio de Pasto. La muestra utilizada fue de 277 participantes pertenecientes a instituciones públicas de carácter urbano y rural. La confiabilidad calculada a través del coeficiente KR20 fue de .92 para la prueba total. Se obtuvieron evidencias favorables para validez de contenido, criterio y constructo. Se establecieron normas de estandarización para la aplicación y calificación de la prueba. The purpose of the test is to identify weaknesses and strengths associated with school performance in first grade primary school children from the municipality of Pasto. The sample consisted of 277 participants from public institutions of urban and rural character. The reliability calculated by KR20 coefficient was 0.92 for the total test. Favorable evidence was obtained for content, criteria and construct validity. Standardized rules were established for the test administration and scoring. The evidence found shows that the test is useful for its practical application as a tool for clinical assessment and research

    Domain walls in supersymmetric QCD: from weak to strong coupling

    We consider domain walls that appear in supersymmetric QCD with Nf < Nc massive flavours. In particular, for 2 Nf < Nc we explicitly construct the domain walls that interpolate between vacua labeled by i and (i+ N_f). We show that these solutions are Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) saturated for any value of the mass of the matter fields. This fact allows us to evaluate the large mass limit of these domain walls. Se encuentra una relación estrecha entre modernidad empresarial y FPE. Utilizando funciones mincerianas modificadas se encuentra que la rentabilidad de la FPE aumenta con el nivel de educación formal y el tamaño de las empresas

    Effectiveness of Mechanical Horse-Riding Simulators on Postural Balance in Neurological Rehabilitation: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

    Mechanical horse-riding simulators consist of a device that mimics the movement of a real horse, generating between 50 and 100 three-dimensional physical movements (forward and back, left and right, up and down). The main objective of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of mechanical horse-riding simulators to improve postural balance in subjects with neurological disorders. The search was conducted during January-March 2019 in PubMed, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Cochrane, Web of Science, CINAHL, and Scopus. The methodological quality of the studies was evaluated through the PEDro scale. A total of seven articles were included in this systematic review, of which four contributed information to the meta-analysis. Statistical analysis showed favorable results for balance in stroke patients, measured by the Berg Balance Scale (standardized mean difference (SMD) = 3.24; 95%; confidence interval (CI): 1.66-4.83). Not conclusive results were found in sitting postural balance, measured using the Gross Motor Function Measure-66 (GMFM-66) Sitting Dimension, in patients with cerebral palsy. Most studies have shown beneficial effects on postural balance compared with conventional physical therapy. However, due to the limited number of articles and their low methodological quality, no solid conclusions can be drawn about the effectiveness of this therapy

    Dissipation-driven generation of two-qubit entanglement mediated by plasmonic waveguides

    We study the generation of entanglement between two distant qubits mediated by the surface plasmons of a metallic waveguide. We show that a V-shaped channel milled in a flat metallic surface is much more efficient for this purpose than a metallic cylinder. The role of the misalignments of the dipole moments of the qubits, an aspect of great importance for experimental implementations, is also studied. A careful analysis of the quantum-dynamics of the system by means of a master equation shows that two-qubit entanglement generation is essentially due to the dissipative part of the effective qubit-qubit coupling provided by the surface plasmons. The influence of a coherent external pumping, needed to achieve a steady state entanglement, is discussed. Finally, we pay attention to the question of how to get information experimentally on the degree of entanglement achieved in the system.Comment: 13 pages, 12 figure

    Host-pathogen evolutionary signatures reveal dynamics and future invasions of vampire bat rabies

    Anticipating how epidemics will spread across landscapes requires understanding host dispersal events that are notoriously difficult to measure. Here, we contrast host and virus genetic signatures to resolve the spatiotemporal dynamics underlying geographic expansions of vampire bat rabies virus (VBRV) in Peru. Phylogenetic analysis revealed recent viral spread between populations that, according to extreme geographic structure in maternally inherited host mitochondrial DNA, appeared completely isolated. In contrast, greater population connectivity in biparentally inherited nuclear microsatellites explained the historical limits of invasions, suggesting that dispersing male bats spread VBRV between genetically isolated female populations. Host nuclear DNA further indicated unanticipated gene flow through the Andes mountains connecting the VBRV-free Pacific coast to the VBRV-endemic Amazon rainforest. By combining Bayesian phylogeography with landscape resistance models, we projected invasion routes through northern Peru that were validated by real-time livestock rabies mortality data. The first outbreaks of VBRV on the Pacific coast of South America could occur by June 2020, which would have serious implications for agriculture, wildlife conservation, and human health. Our results show that combining host and pathogen genetic data can identify sex biases in pathogen spatial spread, which may be a widespread but underappreciated phenomenon, and demonstrate that genetic forecasting can aid preparedness for impending viral invasions

    A New Source for Electroweak Baryogenesis in the MSSM

    One of the most experimentally testable explanations for the origin of the baryon asymmetry of the universe is that it was created during the electroweak phase transition, in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. Previous efforts have focused on the current for the difference of the two Higgsino fields, H1H2H_1-H_2, as the source of biasing sphalerons to create the baryon asymmetry. We point out that the current for the orthogonal linear combination, H1+H2H_1+H_2, is larger by several orders of magnitude. Although this increases the efficiency of electroweak baryogenesis, we nevertheless find that large CP-violating angles 0.15\ge 0.15 are required to get a large enough baryon asymmetry.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures; numerical error corrected, which implies that large CP violation is needed to get observed baryon asymmetry.     Constraints on Supersymmetric Theories from μe,γ\mu\to e,\gamma

    In the absence of any additional assumption it is natural to conjecture that sizeable flavour-mixing mass entries, Δm2\Delta m^2, may appear in the mass matrices of the scalars of the MSSM, i.e. Δm2O(m2)\Delta m^2\sim O(m^2). This flavour violation can still be reconciled with the experiment if the gaugino mass, M1/2M_{1/2}, is large enough, leading to a {\em gaugino dominance} framework (i.e. M1/22m2M_{1/2}^2\gg m^2), which permits a remarkably model--independent analysis. We study this possibility focussing our attention on the μe,γ\mu\rightarrow e,\gamma decay. In this way we obtain very strong and general constraints, in particular \frac{M_{1/2}^2}{\Delta m}\simgt 34\ {\rm TeV}. On the other hand, we show that our analysis and results remain valid for values of m2m^2 much larger than Δm2\Delta m^2, namely for \frac{\Delta m^2}{m^2}\simgt \frac{m^2} {10\ {\rm TeV^2}}, thus extending enormously their scope of application.
