Residents’ Perception of the Social and Cultural Impacts of a Public Music Festival in Catalonia

Many authors recognize that events, besides generating economic impacts, also contribute to social and cultural development, for example by creating and communicating social values and promoting social sharing, strengthening local identity and culture and/or promoting a sense of pride and belonging to a community. This study analyses the perception that residents of the city of Vic (a medium-sized city in the interior of the region of Catalonia, Spain) have developed about the Mercat de Música Viva de Vic (MMVV); an international music festival organized annually by public institutions for the past 27 years. From the results of a factor analysis the paper demonstrates how this event is valued for the positive economic impacts generated, but in particular, for other impacts that have favored the social and cultural development of the region, while negative impacts are also recognized.

Influencia de la actividad física y los hábitos nutricionales sobre el riesgo de síndrome metabólico

The combination of several risk factors caused by obesity, sedentary lifestyle or different genetic factors, leads to suffer "metabolic syndrome", which increases the chance of developing cardiovascular disease. Objectives: Describe the risk of cardiovascular disease in members of Guardia Civil from a military complex in Madrid. Material and method: Descriptive cross-sectional study carried out by a 30 questions-survey, analytics and anthropometric measurements to the Guardia Civil staff who came to the medical service of their quartering between September 1 and October 31, 2014. Results: Sample of 76 subjects aged 20-62. 7’89% of individuals have three or more parameters related with metabolic syndrome diagnosis.Conclusions: Sedentary lifestyle and poor nutritional habits act negatively in lipid profile, blood pressure and BMI, increasing the risk of metabolic syndrome and, therefore, cardiovascular diseasesLa conjunción de varios factores de riesgo originados por la obesidad, el sedentarismo o por diversos factores genéticos, lleva a padecer el llamado “Síndrome Metabólico”, que incrementa la posibilidad de desarrollar enfermedades cardiovasculares. Objetivos: Describir el riesgo de padecer enfermedades cardiovasculares que tienen los miembros de la Guardia Civil de un complejo militar de Madrid. Material y método: Estudio descriptivo transversal, realizado mediante encuesta de 30 preguntas, analítica y medidas antropométricas al personal de la Guardia Civil que acudió al servicio médico de su acuartelamiento entre el 1 de septiembre y el 31 de octubre de 2014. Resultados: Muestra de 76 sujetos de entre 20 y 62 años. El 7’89% de los individuos tiene tres o más parámetros para el diagnóstico del Síndrome Metabólico. Conclusiones: El sedentarismo y los malos hábitos nutricionales actúan negativamente en el perfil lipídico, TA y el IMC de los individuos, haciendo que estos tengan más probabilidades de padecer SM y, por tanto, enfermedades cardiovasculares

STUDENTS´ PERCEPTIONS ABOUT THEIR LEARNING PROCESS WITH THE USE OF LEARNING OBJECTS

Although many teachers and students are used learning objects (LO), however, we unknown the students´ perceptions of LO used, we need to know if they identify that this materials facilitates their learning. The general objective study was analyze students´ perceptions about their learning process with the use of LO in a group of master class by surveying. This research has been base on qualitative and quantitative research methods, for the data collection instrument used was a survey to evaluate and analyze the perceptions of students, each of the rating questions used a 4-point Likert-type scale, respondents were students from a master´s group, individual student responses the survey. At this moment, the data were used for evaluation of students´ perceptions. To accomplish this, the individual ratings were summed and averaged. Further statistical analysis to examine the student´s perceptions of significant perceptions about statement of research problem was also conduced. The results of the survey explored show that students who were part of the study group perceived a significant increase in their learning with the use of learning objects, and the student research skills too. It is observed that the students´ perception on the LO use, it was found that 40% of the participants indicated that they are agree that LO facilitated their learning, 30% affirmed that they are totally agree, 20% declared to disagree and 10% strongly disagree. Crecimiento económico en una región emprendedora en el Ecuador

Este artículo analiza los niveles de emprendimiento temprano de las industrias estratégicas del principal puerto del Ecuador, en la provincia de Guayas en el período 2012-2016. Se utilizaron fuentes secundarias en lo que respecta a la actividad empresarial correspondientes a las sociedades en la Superintendencia de Compañías del Ecuador y del Servicio de Rentas Internas del Ecuador para las empresas unipersonales, por otro lado del Banco Central del Ecuador se obtuvieron datos del Valor Agregado Bruto y la población económicamente activa, la tasa de desempleo del Instituto de Estadísticas y Censos del Ecuador; con esta información se obtiene la TEA (Tasa de actividad emprendedora temprana) y el porcentaje de las empresas establecidas en la provincia de Guayas. Se diseñaron dos modelos econométricos mediante mínimos cuadrados ordinarios, en los cuales se comprobó la incidencia de la TEA y las empresas establecidas en el crecimiento económico y la incidencia del desempleo y las empresas establecidas en la TEA. Los resultados evidenciaron que la TEA y la Tasa de Empresas Establecidas explican en un 97,07% el crecimiento económico de la provincia especialmente en los sectores textiles, confecciones, alimentos y bebidas procesadas donde se evidencian altas tasas de entrada nacientes y nuevas, además se constató que existe una relación inversa entre el desempleo y el emprendimiento.//This article analyzes the levels of early entrepreneurship of the strategic industries of the main port of Ecuador, in the province of Guayas in the period 2012-2016. Secondary sources were used in relation to the business activity corresponding to the companies in the Superintendence of Companies of Ecuador and the Internal Revenue Service of Ecuador for sole proprietorships, on the other hand, the Central Bank of Ecuador, Value Added Data was obtained. The results showed that the TEA and the rate of established companies accounted for 97.07% of the province’s economic growth, especially in the textile, garment, processed foods and beverages sectors, where high new and emerging entry rates are evident. found that there is an inverse relationship between unemployment and entrepreneurship

Mobile resource management for better user experience: an audio case study

Ubiquitous environment's research has evolved considerably over the last years. The wide range of mobile devices, their high diversity and mobility have raised a variety of challenges being resource management a predominant, and therefore attracting special attention in the research community. The Composable-Adaptive Resource Management (CARM) middleware library provides a exi- ble infrastructure where personal devices create seamlessly on-demand interconnections links to share ubiquitous resources. In this paper we present a CARM interesting use case, consisting of an improved audio listening experience by sharing a high quality audio resource. A proof-of-concept implementation is provided, and a testbed comprised of two CARM enabled mobile phones with Bluetooth connectivity making use of remote device's audio resource is described. Consideraciones sobre la sustitución del puente de barcas de Triana: un proyecto de puente de piedra (1631).

El presente artículo intenta aportar nuevos datos sobre un interesante, como poco conocido, proyecto del siglo XVII para reemplazar al centenario puente de barcas de Triana. En las siguientes líneas trazaremos unas breves referencias biográficas sobre esta última infraestructura islámica, así como su aspecto o limitaciones, además de otros problemas que adolecía la estructura portuaria de Sevilla, que nos servirán como causa y contexto para enmarcar los futuros planes de construcción y financiación de la fracasada gran obra de sillería.The present article tries to contribute new data on an interesting, as little known, seventeenth century project to replace the centennial bridge of boats of Triana. Comparación de los criterios clínicos del síndrome de distrés respiratorio agudo con los hallazgos de autopsia en el paciente pediátrico

El texto presenta los resultados de la comparación entre los criterios clínicos del Síndrome de Distrès Respiratorio Agudo y los hallazgos de autopsias en pacientes pediátricos fallecidos entre los años 2000 a 2010 en el hospital La Misericordia. Se recogió información de reportes patológicos e historias clínicas.Se calcularon sensibilidad, especificidad y likelihood ratio (LR). de los criterios estudiados, en pacientes con presencia de factores de riesgo pulmonar y extrapulmonar. Como patrón de oro se recurrió a los reportes histológicos de necropsia. Se encontró frecuencia de daño alveolar difuso en el 35% de ellos; la sensibilidad de los criterios clínicos ascendió al 64,4% (IC 95%) y especificidad del 71% (IC 95%). Se halló mejor rendimiento para pacientes con factores de riesgo extrapulmonar. En conclusión, los criterios clínicos no pueden identificar a todos los pacientes con SDRA, aunque pueden ser mejores dependiendo de los factores de riesgo, se deben investigar otras herramientas que nos permitan mejorar la exactitud diagnóstica del SDRA. A pesar de esto desde el punto devista clínico sigue teniendo gran valor pues los pacientes se benefician del tratamiento propuesto en estos casos, así no tengan daño alveolar difuso.Abstract. The text presents the results of the comparison between the clinical criteria for acute respiratory distress syndrome and autopsy findings in pediatric deaths from 2000 to 2010 in the Misericordia hospital. Information was collected from pathology reports and medical records. We calculated sensitivity, specificity, and likelihood ratio criteria studied in patients with pulmonary and extrapulmonary risk factors. As gold standard was used histological necropsy reports. Frequency was found diffuse alveolar damage in 35% of them, the sensitivity of clinical criteria amounted to 64.4% (95%) and specificity of 71% (95%). We found better outcomes for patients with extrapulmonary risk factors. In conclusion, the clinical criteria may not identify all patients with ARDS, but may be better depending on the risk factors, you should investigate other tools that allow us to improve the diagnostic accuracy of ARDS. Despite this, from the clinical standpoint great value remains as patients benefit from treatment proposed in these cases as well have not diffuse alveolar damage.Otr

Proyectos de sondeo, limpieza y dragado del río Guadalquivir (siglos XVII y XVIII)

La presente investigación tiene por objetivo el estudio de los intentos de mejora de la navegación del río Guadalquivir. Para ello, primero realizamos un análisis de su profundidad a través de tres sondeos efectuados en 1666, 1702 y 1720. Una vez conocidas sus posibilidades para buques de diversos calados, estudiaremos los diferentes proyectos para desguazar los pecios abandonados en sus orillas y, por otra parte, aumentar su caudal mediante la extracción de sedimentos. Finalmente concluimos que, a pesar de todos los proyectos presentados y los muy pocos ejecutados, estos no mejoraron la situación portuaria de Sevilla, ya que las embarcaciones habían aumentado tanto su tonelaje, y por consiguiente su calado, que aún no existía la técnica necesaria para dar tal profundidad al río. Este cúmulo de factores geográficos contribuyó al traslado del comercio americano a la bahía de Cádiz.  This article studies attempts to improve the navigation of the Guadalquivir River.  I analyze three surveys carried out in 1666, 1702 and 1720 to establish the river¿s depth and its navigability for ships of different drafts. It next examines projects to salvage abandoned wrecks on the shores and increase the flow of water through dredging. However, these projects did not improve the situation of the port of Seville, since vessels increased their tonnage and draft beyond the technical possibilities of the time. These problems determined the progressive transfer of American trade to the bay of Cadiz.Artículo revisado por pare
