    PRÁCTICAS DE ENFERMERÍA EMPRENDEDORAS Y AUTÓNOMAS

    This descriptive study with a quantitative approach aimed to characterize the business practices in nursingin the state of Paraná. An intentional sample was undertaken by invitation to 11 nurses with businesses in the health area,the data collected via an online questionnaire. The results point to a young adult population; with a predominance offemales and with varying professional experience. The interest in entrepreneurship arose from the search for professionalsatisfaction; business management was emphasized as the skill necessary to run a business. In relation to the easyaspects and difficulties for opening one’s own business, support from other professionals and bureaucratic issues standout; the participants showed themselves to be satisfied with their businesses. It is concluded that nursing has soughtand explored a new market, promoting the profession as able to conduct its practice autonomously and innovatively.Estudo descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, teve como objetivo caracterizar as práticas de enfermagem empreendedoras no Estado do Paraná. Foi realizada uma amostra intencional por convite a 11 enfermeiros com empreendimentos na área da saúde, os dados foram coletados por meio de questionário online. Os resultados apontam uma população adulta jovem; com prevalência feminina e experiências profissionais variadas. O interesse pelo empreendedorismo surgiu da busca pela satisfação profissional; a gestão de negócios foi destacada como habilidade necessária para empreender. Em relação às facilidades e dificuldades para abrir o próprio negócio, destaca-se o apoio de outros profissionais e as questões burocráticas; os participantes mostraram-se satisfeitos com seus empreendimentos. Conclui-se que a enfermagem tem caminhado e explorado um novo mercado, promovendo a profissão como capaz de conduzir sua prática de forma autônoma e inovadora.Estudio descriptivo, con abordaje cuantitativo que tuvo el objetivo de caracterizar las prácticas deenfermería emprendedoras en Estado de Paraná.     Processo de contratação coletiva de trabalhadores em hospital público de média complexidade

    Tem-se por objetivo descrever o processo de contratao coletiva de trabalhadores em hospital pblico de mdia complexidade. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, onde os dados foram coletados por meio da aplicao de questionrio preenchido por 259 funcionrios no ato da nomeao. Os resultados indicaram que do total de servidores contratados, 69,4% eram de profissionais da rea de enfermagem, 30,6% de vrias categorias profissionais, com predomnio do sexo feminino, faixa etria entre 18 e 39 anos, e experincias profissionais variadas. Concluiu-se que em um processo de contratao coletiva como o desse estudo, torna-se imprescindvel que o gestor esteja apto a elaborar estratgias gerenciais, a fim de detectar fragilidades no processo para solucion-las precocemente evitando transtornos na insero dos trabalhadores na instituio

    Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050.     A obra Produção de Recursos Didáticos na Extensão: Propostas de Ensino de Ciências Usando Instrumentos Didáticos é produto de pesquisas e trabalhos desenvolvidos no curso de Licenciatura em Biologia da Universidade Federal de Tocantins (UFT), Câmpus de Araguaína, através dos projetos de extensão Futuros Cientistas – Vêm para a Biologia (Coordenadora Lidianne Salvatierra) e Feira de Ciências do Estado do Tocantins (Coordenador Gecilane Ferreira) que possuem como objetivos centrais e confluentes a aproximação de alunos e professores da Educação Básica com a comunidade acadêmica, o fomento do senso de investigação científica de alunos do Ensino Fundamental e Ensino Médio, e apresentação e captação de futuros acadêmicos para o curso de Biologia.Ambos os projetos de extensão são desenvolvidos no âmbito do curso de Biologia com a participação de escolas públicas de Araguaína e demais municípios próximos, e consiste no desenvolvimento de dinâmicas de simulação de pesquisa, onde estudantes da rede básica aprendem mais sobre o curso de Biologia e são convidados a participarem ativamente dos eventos da universidade ainda durante a Educação Básica. Os projetos são de caráter intermitente a fim de contribuir para a diminuição da distância entre a comunidade externa e interna.A presente obra foi pensada em duas partes com objetivos distintos, porém interligados. Uma parte (Parte I) foca nesta obra como um produto acadêmico a partir de projetos de extensão na forma de um material de apoio aos professores de Ciências e Biologia que necessitam criar seus próprios recursos didáticos, e é composta por uma coletânea de comunicações curtas de planejamentos de modelos didáticos de baixo custo. E a segunda parte (Parte II) apresenta artigos completos que abordam a utilização de maquetes didáticas no ensino a partir de diferentes pontos de vistas e outros relatos de experiências provenientes das ações dos projetos de extensão. A seguir cada parte é detalhada, comentada e contextualizada:A Parte I – Coletânea de Comunicações Curtas sobre Modelos Didáticos de Invertebrados apresenta uma série de comunicações curtas sobre o processo de planejamento e confecção de maquetes didáticas de baixo custo com foco no ensino de Zoologia dentro das habilidades EM13CNT202 da Base Nacional Comum Curricular. Todas as comunicações foram elaboradas a fim de que professores e alunos possam utilizar as ideias apresentadas aqui e replicá-las em suas instituições de ensino. Os extensionistas e demais alunos do curso foram incentivados a utilizarem materiaisrecicláveis ou com o menor custo possível sempre pensando na realidade socioeconômica da maioria dos estudantes da rede pública brasileira.A Parte II – Coletânea de Artigos sobre o Uso de Modelos Didáticos reuni seis artigos completos que foram produzidos a partir das experiências promovidas com o desenvolvimento dos projetos de extensão no âmbito da Universidade Federal do Tocantins em colaboração com a comunidade externa.     Development and validation of the MMCD score to predict kidney replacement therapy in COVID-19 patients

    Abstract Background Acute kidney injury (AKI) is frequently associated with COVID-19, and the need for kidney replacement therapy (KRT) is considered an indicator of disease severity. This study aimed to develop a prognostic score for predicting the need for KRT in hospitalised COVID-19 patients, and to assess the incidence of AKI and KRT requirement. Methods This study is part of a multicentre cohort, the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry. A total of 5212 adult COVID-19 patients were included between March/2020 and September/2020. Variable selection was performed using generalised additive models (GAM), and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was used for score derivation. Accuracy was assessed using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC). Results The median age of the model-derivation cohort was 59 (IQR 47–70) years, 54.5% were men, 34.3% required ICU admission, 20.9% evolved with AKI, 9.3% required KRT, and 15.1% died during hospitalisation. The temporal validation cohort had similar age, sex, ICU admission, AKI, required KRT distribution and in-hospital mortality. The geographic validation cohort had similar age and sex; however, this cohort had higher rates of ICU admission, AKI, need for KRT and in-hospital mortality. Four predictors of the need for KRT were identified using GAM: need for mechanical ventilation, male sex, higher creatinine at hospital presentation and diabetes. The MMCD score had excellent discrimination in derivation (AUROC 0.929, 95% CI 0.918–0.939) and validation (temporal AUROC 0.927, 95% CI 0.911–0.941; geographic AUROC 0.819, 95% CI 0.792–0.845) cohorts and good overall performance (Brier score: 0.057, 0.056 and 0.122, respectively). The score is implemented in a freely available online risk calculator ( https://www.mmcdscore.com/ ). Conclusions The use of the MMCD score to predict the need for KRT may assist healthcare workers in identifying hospitalised COVID-19 patients who may require more intensive monitoring, and can be useful for resource allocation

The validation cohorts had similar age distribution and in-hospital mortality. Seven significant variables were included in the risk score: age, blood urea nitrogen, number of comorbidities, C-reactive protein, SpO/FiO ratio, platelet count, and heart rate. The model had high discriminatory value (AUROC 0.844, 95% CI 0.829-0.859), which was confirmed in the Brazilian (0.859 [95% CI 0.833-0.885]) and Spanish (0.894 [95% CI 0.870-0.919]) validation cohorts, and displayed better discrimination ability than other existing scores. It is implemented in a freely available online risk calculator (https://abc2sph.com/).
