    Get PDF
The blue spot mullet Valamugil seheli spawns once a year between August and February with peak spawning during October - November. Males attain maturity at 250.5 mm and females at 256.5 mm total length. Males outnumbered females in the commercial catches, although the sex-ratio (M:F=1:0.90) in the population showed no significant deviation. The fecundity of this species varied from 108378 to 910350 eggs with an average of 327944. Linear relationships were found between fish length, gonad weight and fecundity; and between fish length, fish weight and ovary weight

    Get PDF
We synthesize and study the properties of praseodymium doped fluoroindate glasses. Glass compositions with praseodymium molar concentrations up to 5% were obtained with good optical quality. Thermal, optical, and luminescence properties are investigated. Judd–Ofelt analysis is used to determine radiative lifetime and emission cross-section of the orange transition originating from the 3P0 level. We find that these glasses are good candidates for the realization of blue diode laser pumped orange lasers for quantum information processing applications

Structural similarity image quality reliability: Determining parameters and window size

The need to obtain objective values of the quality of distorted images with respect to the original is fundamental in multimedia and image processing applications. It is generally required that this value correlates well with the human vision system (HVS). In spite of the properties and the general use of the mean square error (MSE) measurement, this has a poor correlation with HSV, which has led to the development of methods such as structural similarity (SSIM). This metric improves the correlation with respect to the classic MSE and PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio). However, its behavior depends on the values assigned to constants and on the windows size selected. These values are usually assigned arbitrarily and there have been no studies on how they affect the SSIM. In this work, we have analyzed empirically the most appropriate values for the different constants used in the SSIM equations. We have also analyzed the importance of window size in the calculation of MSSIM, and propose a method for determining the window size based on image complexity. Using the values selected and the window size defined, the correlation between SSIM and DMOS (differential mean opinion score) is significantly improved by around 17% with respect to the values commonly used. Get PDF
This project report deals with dynamic behaviour of Car body with simulation of Sinusoidal wave and Random excitation wave and also modal analysis using theoretical and experimental analysis method, to study selection of test rig development. This project report is to study the design of an automobile simulation test rig using working model 2D analysis and also modal analysis, finally compare it. The structural three-dimensional solid modelling of car body was developed using the SOLIDWORK drawing software. The modal analysis was then performed using ANSYS 14.0 (Modal Analysis). Finally, the experimental modal analysis was performed using Impact Hammer Testing method. The natural frequency of the mode shape is determined and comparative study was done from both method results. The comparison between natural frequencies of modal analysis ANSYS modelling and model testing shows the closeness of the results. From the results, the percentage error had been determined and the limitation in the natural frequency of the car body is observed. The results of this project shown the mode shapes of car body simulation are generally is not in agreement with the experimental value and the frequencies of the experimental modal analysis are a bit different with the frequencies of the simulation. The percentage error is bit high because there are some errors occur during the experimental modal analysis. The experimental modal analysis is conducted with fix condition which effect test rig by using spring as a base of the plate is a factors as the higher percentage error. The comparison between two concept design also been done using working model 2D by sinusoidal wave and random wave excitation. As result, the best studies deformation were been conducted through concept solenoid Actuator Test rig, therefore that concept has been chosen according to the concept scoring method

A parametric study of rigid body-viscous flow interaction

This thesis presents the numerical solution for two-dimensional incompressible viscous flow over a rigid bluff body which is elastically supported or alternately undergoing a specified harmonic oscillations. Solutions for the related associate flow in which the body is at rest in a two-dimensional incompressible time-dependent viscous flow have also been -obtained. This work is an extension of the work by Pattani [19] to include the effect of a steady far field flow on an oscillating body. The numerical model utilizes the finite element method based on a velocity-pressure primitive variable representation of the complete Navier-Stokes equations. Curved isoparametric elements with quadratic interpolation for velocities and bilinear interpolation for pressure are used. Nonlinear boundary conditions on the moving body are represented to the first order in the body amplitude parameter. The method of averaging is used to obtain the resulting periodic motion of the fluid. Three non-dimensional parameters are used to completely characterise the flow problem: the frequency Reynolds number Rω , the Reynolds number of steady flow Rℯ₁ and the Reynolds number for time-dependent flow Rℯ₂. Numerical results are obtained for a circular body, a square body and an equilateral triangular body. A parametric study is conducted for different values of the Reynolds numbers in the viscous flow regime. In all cases, results are obtained for streamlines, streaklines, added mass, added damping, added force and the drag coefficients. The limiting cases of steady flow over a fixed body and an oscillating body in a stationary fluid are checked with known results. Results for the associated flow are also obtained. The transformations derived, between the two associated flows are checked. Good agreement is obtained between the present results and other known results.Applied Science, Faculty ofCivil Engineering, Department ofGraduat
