Performance Evaluation of cuDNN Convolution Algorithms on NVIDIA Volta GPUs

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have recently attracted considerable attention due to their outstanding accuracy in applications, such as image recognition and natural language processing. While one advantage of the CNNs over other types of neural networks is their reduced computational cost, faster execution is still desired for both training and inference. Since convolution operations pose most of the execution time, multiple algorithms were and are being developed with the aim of accelerating this type of operations. However, due to the wide range of convolution parameter configurations used in the CNNs and the possible data type representations, it is not straightforward to assess in advance which of the available algorithms will be the best performing in each particular case. In this paper, we present a performance evaluation of the convolution algorithms provided by the cuDNN, the library used by most deep learning frameworks for their GPU operations. In our analysis, we leverage the convolution parameter configurations from widely used the CNNs and discuss which algorithms are better suited depending on the convolution parameters for both 32 and 16-bit floating-point (FP) data representations. Our results show that the filter size and the number of inputs are the most significant parameters when selecting a GPU convolution algorithm for 32-bit FP data. Actualización de los nuevos sistemas educativos

El presente libro, Actualización de los nuevos sistemas educativos, tiene como objetivo mostrar ante la Academia investigaciones originales en el ámbito de la docencia, innovación e investigación, aplicado principalmente a los campos de: Comunicación, Sociología, Tecnologías Audiovisuales y de la Comunicación. A tal fin, tres editoriales, ACCI (Asociación Cultural y Científica Iberoamericana), (España), Media XXI (Portugal) y Journal of alternative perspectives in the social sciences (Estados Unidos) han decidido aunar esfuerzos y editar en tres idiomas los capítulos que ayudan a entender el nuevo panorama de la Comunicación y de las Aulas en el siglo XXI. Los siguientes capítulos constituyen los resultados de nuevos aportes dentro de la colección española 'Nuevo impulso educativo' a fin de que sean expuestos mediante su difusión ante la Comunidad científica especializada en el área temática de la innovación educativa y los nuevos espacios docentes.O presente livro, Atualidade dos Novos Sistemas Educativos, tem como objetivo mostrar, perante a Academia, investigações originais no âmbito da docência, inovação e investigação, aplicadas principalmente aos campos da Comunicação, Sociologia, Tecnologias Audiovisuais e da Comunicação.Para atingir este objetivo, três editoras, Visión Libros (Espanha), Media XXI (Portugal) e Journal of Alternative Perspectives in the Social Sciences (Estados Unidos), decidiram reunir esforços e editar em três idiomas os capítulos que ajudam a entender o novo panorama da Comunicação e das Aulas no século XXI. La figura de l´Amazona, singularitzada en les diverses reines que apareixen al llarg de la literatura des de l´època grega, es caracteritza per la pertanyença a un estat ginecocràtic que trenca les normes socials tant de l´Antiga Grècia com de les societats cristianes de l´Occident europeu. Normalment aquesta inversió és castigada pels autors, o bé amb la mort al combat, com a l´Antiguitat, o bé amb la derrota amorosa que les fa participar de bon grat de la societat patriarcal establerta. The ceramic sector digitalization

The economic crisis, which began in 2007, had a major impact and repercussions on this sector than in others. Its high geographical concentration and the support of important and official institutions, led the Spanish ceramic sector to the top of the industrial innovation. As a result of the investments in new technologies, a Spanish company managed to patent a revolutionary method of digital printing. This dissertation studies 20 Spanish companies by means of an econometric model, how the digitization of ceramic printing, allowed to regenerate the Spanish ceramic sector between the years 2007 and 2015

Són compatibles la mitologia amb la tecnologia?

Curs acadèmic 2014-2015L’aplicació de les TIC a les Ciències Socials pot ser una forma innovadora d’ensenyar afers relacionats amb la societat, en aquest cas la mitologia pròpia de Castelló de la Plana. Aquesta es una manera adequada d’introduir la història a l’alumnat més petit, ja que els elements fantàstics i sobrenaturals serveixen per a captar la seva atenció i gaudir aprenent. L’ús de les noves tecnologies no està generalitzat per totes les escoles, ja que hi han unes barreres a nivell econòmic de l’escola i per la predisposició del personal docent per a saber fer un ús correcte d’aquests. Aquests recursos d’última generació han de servir per a captar l’atenció de l’alumnat, però no vol dir que s’utilitzen amb la metodologia que s’ha emprat tradicionalment, sinó que s’han d’aplicar junt amb metodologies innovadores en que l’alumnat puga dirigir-se per ell mateix a la solució amb un docent que els guia. L’autonomia de l’alumnat obri les portes a un pensament propi, totalment diferent al que es pot apreciar en la majoria de les escoles. En la proposta didàctica que es mostra posteriorment s’intenta fomentar el treball individual i a la vegada el treball en equip, per a que cada volta el personal docent tinga menys rellevància i que l’alumnat siga el protagonista del seu aprenentatge. S’utilitzen diferents recursos digitals en línia com es la webquest o el kahoot que poden ser una forma innovadora d’aplicar aquesta metodologia al món digital i de la xarxa
