    LOOP NETWORK CALCULATION METHOD FOR AIR FLOW IN FLATS

    Abstract: Open collector and single flue chimneys together with mechanical ventilation systems can pose considerable problems in one space in both technical and legal terms. We attempt to investigate this issue from a technical perspective and we examine specific cases. If collector and single flue chimneys are used together with mechanical ventilation, in certain cases the functioning of the chimney can be hindered and even serious accidents can occur. In this case study, we have elaborated a calculation method which can show the circumstances of the functioning. This calculation method will be presented through some examples. We believe that generalizations can be made based on these examples. This calculation method enables the creation of a software, which can be used by an expert to control the air flow. Thanks to this procedure, one can test the effect of the depression on the collector and single flue chimneys. Firstly, the method will be presented in the case of a flat with 14 pipes , 7 of which are basic pipes . Some calculation examples will be presented for the given flat. In the second part, the air supply of a whole level including three flats with 42 pipes , 22 of which are basic pipes and loops will be analyzed Keywords: air flow in flats, calculation method, control, basic pipes and loop

    Deiodinase Enzymes and Their Activities in Graves’ Hyperthyroidism

    The origin of hyperthyroidism in Graves’ disease was displayed demonstrating the complexity of the processes. The role of stimulating TSH receptor antibodies is the one factor for the production of increased thyroidal T3 and T4. The T3 and T4 formation in colloid-embedded thyroglobulin and the activities of thyroidal deiodinases [type 1 (DIO1) and type 2 (DIO2)] play a crucial role in that. The findings of different authors were summarized with respect to highlighting the role of tissue-specific deiodinase activities. Apart from the results of experimental studies, the clinical results were brought to the front. The role of tissue-specific type 2 deiodinase activity was demonstrated according to thyroid function, the presence of autoantibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO), thyroglobulin (Tg) and TSH receptor. Autoantibodies against human eye muscle membrane and cytosol antigens had influencing effects on tissue-specific DIO2 activities, and the antieye muscle antibody immunoglobulin isotypes were associated with eye muscle enlargements. Antithyroid drug (ATD) therapy demonstrated relevant effects on tissue-specific DIO2 activities, which were manifested in the alterations of thyroid hormone levels. An asymptomatically appearance of autoantibodies against peptides corresponding to amino acid sequence of DIO2 was detected associating with thyroid hormone and anti-TPO, anti-Tg and TSH receptor antibody levels during the therapy

    18th - Century daily measurements and weather observations in the SE-Carpathian basin: a preliminary analysis of the Timişoara series (1780-1803)

    Covering a period of 23 years, the Timişoara (in historical Banat region; today SW-Romania) series is the earliest known long-term 18th-century daily measurement (temperature, pressure) and weather observation series (precipitation, sky coverage, meteorological extremes), preserved in the south-eastern lowlands of the Carpathian Basin. Based on data derived from the original weather diary of the royal pharmacist Karl Joseph Klapka, in this paper the early instrumental measurement and daily observation series is presented referring to the temperature, pressure, precipitation conditions, cloudiness, wind, types of precipitation and extreme weather events that occurred in Timişoara in the period of 1780 -1803. The two daily temperature measurement series show very high (over r=0.95) correlations, while pressure series are also in good agreement with other known late 18th-century measurement series of the same period in the Carpathian Basin (Buda, Miskolc and Kežmarok). The Timişoara-series also contains important information concerning such weather extremes as the severe winter of 1784 or the unusual number of summer fog events in 1783 (presumably related to the Icelandic Lakagígar eruption), which are also reported in the present paper
