    In vitro dissolution kinetic for mycophenolic acid derivatives tablets

    Micofenolato de mofetila (MMF) e micofenolato sĂłdico (MPS) sĂŁo, respectivamente, Ă©ster e sal sĂłdico do ĂĄcido micofenĂłlico. Os fĂĄrmacos possuem caracterĂ­sticas farmacocinĂ©ticas distintas em função das diferenças na estrutura molecular, nas propriedades fĂ­sico-quĂ­micas e nas formulaçÔes administradas. Neste trabalho, os perfis de dissolução dos medicamentos referĂȘncias foram testados em diferentes meios de dissolução com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da variação de pH, a cinĂ©tica de dissolução e o modelo estatĂ­stico mais adequado para prever a dissolução dos fĂĄrmacos. A liberação dos fĂĄrmacos foi determinada com mĂ©todo validado por espectroscopia no ultravioleta, λ 250 nm. O mĂ©todo mostrou-se seletivo, linear, preciso e exato para dissolução de MMF em 0,1 M HCl e MPS em tampĂŁo fosfato pH 6,8. Os modelos cinĂ©ticos de dissolução de ordem zero, primeira ordem, Higuchi, Hixson-Crowell e Weibull foram aplicados com o objetivo de selecionar aquele com o melhor ajuste por regressĂŁo linear. Os parĂąmetros de regressĂŁo foram estimados e os ajustes dos modelos foram verificados pelos resĂ­duos e coeficientes de determinação. Os resĂ­duos obtidos foram aleatĂłrios, independentes, apresentaram variĂąncia constante e seguiram a distribuição normal. Os valores de RÂČ (74,7% para MMF e 95,8% para MPS) indicaram bom ajuste da regressĂŁo de Weibull para explicar a variabilidade e estimar a liberação dos fĂĄrmacos.Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and mycophenolate sodium (MPS) are an ester and a salt of mycophenolic acid. They have different kinetic in vivo characteristics due to differences in molecular structures, physicochemical properties and formulations administered. In this study, dissolution profiles of reference products were tested in different media to evaluate the effect of pH, kinetic dissolution and the best statistical model that can be used to predict the release of both drugs. The drug release was determined by using a validated ultraviolet spectrophotometry method, λ 250 nm. The method showed to be selective, linear, precise and accurate for MMF in 0.1 M HCl and MPS in sodium phosphate buffer pH 6.8. Dissolution kinetics models of zero order, first order, Higuchi, Hixson-Crowell and Weibull were applied to data in order to select the best fit by linear regression. The regression parameters were estimated and the models were evaluated with the results of residuals and coefficient of determination. The residuals obtained from dissolution kinetics models were random, uncorrelated, and normally distributed with constant variance. The RÂČ values (74.7% for MMF and 95.8% for MPS) demonstrated good ability of the Weibull regression to explain the variability and to predict the drugs' release

    Protocol Proposal For The Care Of The Person With Venous Ulcer

    Objective: To propose a care protocol for the care of the person with a venous ulcer in highly complex services. Methods and results: This is a methodological study, in three stages: literature review, validation of content and validation in the clinical context. The literature review was carried out from June to August/2011, being the basis for the construction of the Protocol for Venous Ulcers. The content validation included 53 judges (44 nurses, 8 physicians and 1 physiotherapist) selected through the Lattes platform to evaluate the items of the protocol. Validation in the clinical context occurred at the University Hospital Onofre Lopes, in Natal/RN with four judges (nurses), who worked in pairs, evaluating 32 patients with venous ulcers. The protocol was validated with 15 categories: sociodemographic data; anamnesis; examinations; ulcer characteristics; care with the lesion and perilesional area; medicines used to treat the lesion; evaluation and treatment of pain; surgical treatment of chronic venous disease; recurrence prevention (clinical and educational strategies); reference; counter-reference; and quality of life. Conclusion: The validated protocol regarding content and clinical context was applicable. Its implementation is a viable measure that assists in the reorientation of the team in high complexity services, aiming at wound healing and restoration of the patientÂŽs integral health.     Pervasive gaps in Amazonian ecological research

    Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050.     Amazonia Camtrap: a data set of mammal, bird, and reptile species recorded with camera traps in the Amazon forest.

    Abstract : The Amazon forest has the highest biodiversity on Earth. However, information on Amazonian vertebrate diversity is still deficient and scatteredacross the published, peer-reviewed, and gray literature and in unpublishedraw data. Camera traps are an effective non-invasive method of surveying vertebrates, applicable to different scales of time and space. In this study, we organized and standardized camera trap records from different Amazonregions to compile the most extensive data set of inventories of mammal,bird, and reptile species ever assembled for the area. The complete data setcomprises 154,123 records of 317 species (185 birds, 119 mammals, and13 reptiles) gathered from surveys from the Amazonian portion of eightcountries (Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru,Suriname, and Venezuela). The most frequently recorded species per taxawere: mammals:Cuniculus paca (11,907 records); birds: Pauxi tuberosa (3713 records); and reptiles:Tupinambis teguixin(716 records). The infor-mation detailed in this data paper opens up opportunities for new ecological studies at different spatial and temporal scales, allowing for a moreaccurate evaluation of the effects of habitat loss, fragmentation, climatechange, and other human-mediated defaunation processes in one of themost important and threatened tropical environments in the world.     ATLANTIC EPIPHYTES: a data set of vascular and non-vascular epiphyte plants and lichens from the Atlantic Forest

    Epiphytes are hyper-diverse and one of the frequently undervalued life forms in plant surveys and biodiversity inventories. Epiphytes of the Atlantic Forest, one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world, have high endemism and radiated recently in the Pliocene. We aimed to (1) compile an extensive Atlantic Forest data set on vascular, non-vascular plants (including hemiepiphytes), and lichen epiphyte species occurrence and abundance; (2) describe the epiphyte distribution in the Atlantic Forest, in order to indicate future sampling efforts. Our work presents the first epiphyte data set with information on abundance and occurrence of epiphyte phorophyte species. All data compiled here come from three main sources provided by the authors: published sources (comprising peer-reviewed articles, books, and theses), unpublished data, and herbarium data. We compiled a data set composed of 2,095 species, from 89,270 holo/hemiepiphyte records, in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, recorded from 1824 to early 2018. Most of the records were from qualitative data (occurrence only, 88%), well distributed throughout the Atlantic Forest. For quantitative records, the most common sampling method was individual trees (71%), followed by plot sampling (19%), and transect sampling (10%). Angiosperms (81%) were the most frequently registered group, and Bromeliaceae and Orchidaceae were the families with the greatest number of records (27,272 and 21,945, respectively). Ferns and Lycophytes presented fewer records than Angiosperms, and Polypodiaceae were the most recorded family, and more concentrated in the Southern and Southeastern regions. Data on non-vascular plants and lichens were scarce, with a few disjunct records concentrated in the Northeastern region of the Atlantic Forest. For all non-vascular plant records, Lejeuneaceae, a family of liverworts, was the most recorded family. We hope that our effort to organize scattered epiphyte data help advance the knowledge of epiphyte ecology, as well as our understanding of macroecological and biogeographical patterns in the Atlantic Forest.
