    Multipurpose medical assistant robot (Docto-Bot) based on internet of things

    The world's population is growing every day, and so is the number of patients. People's life expectancy is increasing due to technology's welfare, but the problem is that the health sector has always faced a shortage of inadequate doctors. This research main objective was to design and implement a biomedical-based medical assistant robot named "Docto-Bot" to deal with this problem. This research concerns this medical assistant robot's design and development for the disabled and the patients in need. Such a robot's prime utilization is to minimize person-to-person contact and ensure the cleaning, sterilization, and support in hospitals and similar facilities such as quarantine. This prototype robot consists of a medicine reminding and medicine providing system, Automatic hand sanitizer and IoT based physiological monitoring system (body temperature, pulse rate, ECG, Oxygen saturation level). A direct one-to-one server-based communication method and user-end android app maintaining system designed. It also included the controlling part, which control automatically and manually by users. Docto-Bot will play a very significant factor in bio-medical robot applications. Though the achievements described in the paper look fruitful and advanced, shortcomings still exist

    PHOTOLYTIC DEGRADATION STUDY ON FILM COATED ATENOLOL TABLET AVAILABLE IN MARKET

    Objective: Despite its sensitivity to light, atenolol has been manufactured as a film-coated tablet with normal blister packaging by several pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh. The aim of this study was to investigate the extent of light-induced potency degradation of a randomly selected film coated brand of atenolol.Methods: Atenolol tablets were exposed to different lighting conditions such as normal room light, direct sunlight and different incandescent lights (25W and 40W). Subsequently, UV spectroscopy technique was employed to determine the relative reduction of light absorbance compared to their respective controls. Thereafter, photolytic degradation was calculated by means of the potency reduction of tablets.Results: In all lighting conditions, atenolol tablets underwent exposure dependent gradual decrease in potency. Except for normal room light condition, a significant decrease in potency was found even after 4 to 6 h of exposure to all lighting conditions. After 6 h, potency reduction was found at 40-47%, 26-38% and 34-36% in the samples exposed to direct sunlight, 25 W bulb, and 40 W bulb respectively. Although the shelf life of the film coated tables was 2 y, surprisingly, statistically significant reduction in potency was observed within only 30 d in room light condition.Conclusion: In order to protect from light, blister packaging is not sufficient for film coated atenolol tablets. Photo-stability of all brands of atenolol must be ensured either by protective packaging materials or by optimizing the formulations

    Understanding "Quarantine," "Social Distancing," and "Lockdown" during "COVID-19" Pandemic in Response to Global Health: A Conceptual Review

    This study comprehends how non-pharmaceutical approaches such as “quarantine,” “social distancing,” and “lockdown” help to impede the extent of the severe COVID-19 pandemic. The abrupt, surfacing, and evolving circumstance of this infection was thought to be defended, imperative, and implemented through these approaches as a core component of the quick response in the arena of a global health emergency. In this pursuit, a logical conceptual framework is developed using a qualitative method by reviewing literature along with analyzing numerous documents and reports. Based on information from some countries, this exploration centers around significant approaches and the embraced socio-health policy used as a preventive framework leading to the quarantine, social distancing, and lockdown for the transmission of the virus headed for the community. Studies have shown that populations flowing from the sources of the outbreak pose a higher level of risk in the destination area than other factors such as topographical vicinity, physical contact, and interaction. This study, therefore, suggests some draconian socio-health policies to be imposed, such as quarantine, social distancing, and lockdown measures to cripple the transmission of the virus. The sooner such measures are implemented, the shorter will be the term of the endemic. Finally, the findings have important implications for the policymaking to be adopted globally as well as nationally preventive strategies

    Fingertip Interaction With Large Screen Display System Using Virtual Touch Scre

    Existing large scale display systems generally adopt an indirect approach to user interaction. This is due to the use of standard desktop-oriented devices, such as a mouse on a desk, to control the large wall-sized display. By using an infrared laser pointer and an infrared tracking device, a more direct interaction with the large display can be achieved, thereby reducing the cognitive load of the user and improving their mobility. This paper introduces a novel approach towards direct interaction with large display systems. However, the computer mouse remains the most common interaction tool for such displays. We propose a new approach for fingertip interaction with large display using virtual touchscreen. By taking into account the location of the user and the interaction area available, we can estimate an interaction surface virtual touchscreen between the display and the user. Users can use their pointing finger to interact with the display as if it was brought forward and presented directly in front of them, while preserving viewing angle. An interaction model is presented to describe the interaction with the virtual touchscreen, using the head-hand line method

    COVID-19 has undoubtedly absorbed the global public\u27s angst. It has quickly disturbed global life and will have long-term and short-term consequences on several sectors. This comprehensive review study\u27s goal is to discover what research has been done in a year since the beginning of coronavirus in Bangladesh. Consequently, the current study examined the pervasiveness and affiliation of social and economic issues, health and psychological issues and individual perceptions, key challenges, strategies and policy systems, public health, online education, agriculture and food security, criminal activities related to outbreaks, Rohingya refugee issues, and the quality of domestic violence behaviors. The review used electronic databases such as Web of Science, PubMed, PubMed Central, and Scopus to find published material. This study reviewed chosen papers, removing redundancies and including 43 pertinent articles. Among the 43 study items, fourteen were qualitative (32.56%), six mixed (13.95%), and the rest were quantitative (53.49 %). This study helps to identify the issues with current documentation by focusing on interconnected factors and studying COVID-19 events and scenarios. Thus, governments and other stakeholders should reassess these controversial issues to formulate a policy that takes into consideration the situation in Bangladesh and other COVID-19 affected countries
