Mobile Broadband Possibilities considering the Arrival of IEEE 802.16m & LTE with an Emphasis on South Asia
This paper intends to look deeper into finding an ideal mobile broadband
solution. Special stress has been put in the South Asian region through some
comparative analysis. Proving their competency in numerous aspects, WiMAX and
LTE already have already made a strong position in telecommunication industry.
Both WiMAX and LTE are 4G technologies designed to move data rather than voice
having IP networks based on OFDM technology. So, they aren't like typical
technological rivals as of GSM and CDMA. But still a gesture of hostility seems
to outburst long before the stable commercial launch of LTE. In this paper
various aspects of WiMAX and LTE for deployment have been analyzed. Again, we
tried to make every possible consideration with respect to south Asia i.e. how
mass people of this region may be benefited. As a result, it might be regarded
as a good source in case of making major BWA deployment decisions in this
region. Besides these, it also opens the path for further research and in depth
thinking in this issue.Comment: IEEE Publication format, ISSN 1947 5500,

Why do you dance? Development of the Dance Motivation Inventory (DMI)
Dancing is a popular form of physical exercise and studies have show that dancing can decrease anxiety, increase self-esteem, and improve psychological wellbeing. The aim of the current study was to explore the motivational basis of recreational social dancing and develop a new psychometric instrument to assess dancing motivation. The sample comprised 447 salsa and/or ballroom dancers (68% female; mean age 32.8 years) who completed an online survey. Eight motivational factors were identified via exploratory factor analysis and comprise a new Dance Motivation Inventory: Fitness, Mood Enhancement, Intimacy, Socialising, Trance, Mastery, Self-confidence and Escapism. Mood Enhancement was the strongest motivational factor for both males and females, although motives differed according to gender. Dancing intensity was predicted by three motivational factors: Mood Enhancement, Socialising, and Escapism. The eight dimensions identified cover possible motives for social recreational dancing, and the DMI proved to be a suitable measurement tool to assess these motives. The explored motives such as Mood Enhancement, Socialising and Escapism appear to be similar to those identified in other forms of behaviour such as drinking alcohol, exercise, gambling, and gaming
Large, long range tensile forces drive convergence during
Indirect evidence suggests that blastopore closure during gastrulation of anamniotes, including amphibians such as Xenopus laevis, depends on circumblastoporal convergence forces generated by the marginal zone (MZ), but direct evidence is lacking. We show that explanted MZs generate tensile convergence forces up to 1.5 mN during gastrulation and over 4 mN thereafter. These forces are generated by convergent thickening (CT) until the midgastrula and increasingly by convergent extension (CE) thereafter. Explants from ventralized embryos, which lack tissues expressing CE but close their blastopores, produce up to 2 mN of tensile force, showing that CT alone generates forces sufficient to close the blastopore. Uniaxial tensile stress relaxation assays show stiffening of mesodermal and ectodermal tissues around the onset of neurulation, potentially enhancing long-range transmission of convergence forces. These results illuminate the mechanobiology of early vertebrate morphogenic mechanisms, aid interpretation of phenotypes, and give insight into the evolution of blastopore closure mechanisms. © Shook et al
Endoscopic Ultrasonic Dacryocystorhinostomy for Recurrent Dacryocystitis Following Rhinoplasty
Abstract:
The lacrimal sac is the structure most vulnerable to injury when performing osteotomies for rhinoplasty. When performed in a low lateral position or along the frontal process of the frontal-maxillary suture, osteotomies have the potential to tear the medial canthal ligament and injure the underlying lacrimal sac resulting in dacryocystitis. We report a case of dacryocystitis in a 19 year old male who presented with recurrent episodes of pain, tearing, and discharge from his left eye following primary rhinoplasty. He was found to have obstruction of the lacrimal system secondary to a low lateral osteotomy with an impinging bone fragment on imaging. Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy was performed using a Sonopet® ultrasonic bone aspirator under image guidance to remove the bone fragments posing risk to further injury to the lacrimal sac and orbit. Patency of the nasolacrimal duct was achieved and the patient remained symptom free at 6 month follow up. We describe the first case of recurrent dacryocystitis following rhinoplasty requiring treatment by an endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR). Endoscopic DCR with the use of the ultrasonic bone aspirator provides several advantages over open DCR, including the lack of an external incision and decreased risk of injury to the adjacent orbital soft tissue anatomy including the lacrimal system
Zoom-in-Net: Deep Mining Lesions for Diabetic Retinopathy Detection
We propose a convolution neural network based algorithm for simultaneously
diagnosing diabetic retinopathy and highlighting suspicious regions. Our
contributions are two folds: 1) a network termed Zoom-in-Net which mimics the
zoom-in process of a clinician to examine the retinal images. Trained with only
image-level supervisions, Zoomin-Net can generate attention maps which
highlight suspicious regions, and predicts the disease level accurately based
on both the whole image and its high resolution suspicious patches. 2) Only
four bounding boxes generated from the automatically learned attention maps are
enough to cover 80% of the lesions labeled by an experienced ophthalmologist,
which shows good localization ability of the attention maps. By clustering
features at high response locations on the attention maps, we discover
meaningful clusters which contain potential lesions in diabetic retinopathy.
Experiments show that our algorithm outperform the state-of-the-art methods on
two datasets, EyePACS and Messidor.Comment: accepted by MICCAI 201
