    Educational Strategies to Promote Adherence to Treatment in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease

    Introduction: Educational material is a key strategy for primary health care promotion. Purpose: To design and validate educational material adapted to the population and aimed to increase knowledge about adherence to the treatment of arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Methodology: Methodological study for the design of educational material for people with diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. For the design, content validity tests were carried out, with the participation of six experts in health education and six patients with chronic diseases. Validation was performed pursuant to the attraction, understanding, engagement, and acceptance criteria. Results: The validation confirmed that all items and criteria were above the minimal expected range. Conclusion: The design and validation of educational material provide elements that improve the education of patients about their pathologies and their adherence to treatment

    Hole-Hole Contact Interaction in the t-J Model

    Using an analytical variational approach we calculate the hole-hole contact interaction on the N\'{e}el background. Solution of the Bethe-Salpeter equation with this interaction gives bound states in dd- and p-waves with binding energies close to those obtained by numerical methods. At t/J23t/J \ge 2-3 the bound state disappears. In conclusion we discuss the relation between short range and long range interactions and analogy with the problem of pion condensation in nuclear matter.Comment: 11 pp. (LATEX), 7 figures (PostScript) appended, report N

    Spin polarons in triangular antiferromagnets

    The motion of a single hole in a 2D triangular antiferromagnet is investigated using the t-J model. The one-hole states are described by strings of spin deviations around the hole. Using projection technique the one-hole spectral function is calculated. For large J/t we find low-lying quasiparticle-like bands which are well separated from an incoherent background by a gap of order J. However, for small J/t this gap vanishes and the spectrum becomes broad over an energy range of several t.     Indications of Spin-Charge Separation at Short Distance and Stripe Formation in the Extended t-J Model on Ladders and Planes

    The recently discussed tendency of holes to generate nontrivial spin environments in the extended two-dimensional t-J model (G. Martins, R. Eder, and E. Dagotto, Phys. Rev. B{\bf 60}, R3716 (1999)) is here investigated using computational techniques applied to ladders with several number of legs. This tendency is studied also with the help of analytic spin-polaron approaches directly in two dimensions. Our main result is that the presence of robust antiferromagnetic correlations between spins located at both sides of a hole either along the x or y axis, observed before numerically on square clusters, is also found using ladders, as well as applying techniques based on a string-basis expansion. This so-called "across-the-hole" nontrivial structure exists even in the two-leg spin-gapped ladder system, and leads to an effective reduction in dimensionality and spin-charge separation at short-distances, with a concomitant drastic reduction in the quasiparticle (QP) weight Z. In general, it appears that holes tend to induce one-dimensional-like spin arrangements to improve their mobility. Using ladders it is also shown that the very small J/t\sim0.1 regime of the standard t-J model may be more realistic than anticipated in previous investigations, since such regime shares several properties with those found in the extended model at realistic couplings. Another goal of the present article is to provide additional information on the recently discussed tendencies to stripe formation and spin incommensurability reported for the extended t-J model.Comment: 14 pages, 21 figures, LateX, submited to Phys.     Doped bilayer antiferromagnets: Hole dynamics on both sides of a magnetic ordering transition

    The two-layer square lattice quantum antiferromagnet with spins 1/2 shows a magnetic order-disorder transition at a critical ratio of the interplane to intraplane couplings. We investigate the dynamics of a single hole in a bilayer antiferromagnet described by a t-J Hamiltonian. To model the spin background we propose a ground-state wave function for the undoped system which covers both magnetic phases and includes transverse as well as longitudinal spin fluctuations. The photoemission spectrum is calculated using the spin-polaron picture for the whole range of the ratio of the magnetic couplings. This allows for the study of the hole dynamics of both sides of the magnetic order-disorder transition. For small interplane coupling we find a quasiparticle with properties known from the single-layer antiferromagnet, e.g., the dispersion minimum is at (pi/2,pi/2). For large interplane coupling the hole dispersion is similar to that of a free fermion (with reduced bandwidth). The cross-over between these two scenarios occurs inside the antiferromagnetic phase which indicates that the hole dynamics is governed by the local environment of the hole.Comment: 14 pages, 11 figs, minor changes, discussion of spin correlations added, accepted for publication in PR

    Two-hole problem in the t-J model: A canonical transformation approach

    The t-J model in the spinless-fermion representation is studied. An effective Hamiltonian for the quasiparticles is derived using canonical transformation approach. It is shown that the rather simple form of the transformation generator allows to take into account effect of hole interaction with the short-range spin waves and to describe the single-hole groundstate. Obtained results are very close to ones of the self-consistent Born approximation. Further accounting for the long-range spin-wave interaction is possible on the perturbative basis. Both spin-wave exchange and an effective interaction due to minimization of the number of broken antiferromagnetic bonds are included in the effective quasiparticle interaction. Two-hole bound state problem is solved using Bethe-Salpeter equation. The only d-wave bound state is found to exist in the region of 1< (t/J) <5. Combined effect of the pairing interactions of both types is important to its formation. Discussion of the possible relation of the obtained results to the problem of superconductivity in real systems is presented.Comment: 19 pages, RevTeX, 12 postscript figure

    Single-hole dynamics in dimerized and frustrated spin-chains

    We present a unified account for the coupled single-hole- and spin-dynamics in the spin-gap phase of dimerized and frustrated spin-chains and two-leg spin ladders. Based on the strong dimer-limit of a one-dimensional t123t_123-J123J_123-model a diagrammatic approach is presented which employs a mapping of the spin-Hamiltonian onto a pseudo-fermion bond-boson model. Results for the single-hole spectrum are detailed. A finite quasi-particle weight is observed and studied for a variety of system parameters. A comparison with existing exact diagonalization data is performed and good agreement is found.Comment: 10 pages, 12 figure

    The GEYSERS optical testbed: a platform for the integration, validation and demonstration of cloud-based infrastructure services

    The recent evolution of cloud services is leading to a new service transformation paradigm to accommodate network infrastructures in a cost-scalable way. In this transformation, the network constitutes the key to efficiently connect users to services and applications. In this paper we describe the deployment, validation and demonstration of the optical integrated testbed for the “GEneralized architecture for dYnamic infrastructure SERviceS” (GEYSERS) project to accommodate such cloud based Infrastructure Services. The GEYSERS testbed is composed of a set of local physical testbeds allocated in the facilities of the GEYSERS partners. It is built up based on the requirements specification, architecture definition and per-layer development that constitutes the whole GEYSERS ecosystem, and validates the procedures on the GEYSERS prototypes. The testbed includes optical devices (layer 1), switches (layer 2), and IT resources deployed in different local testbeds provided by the project partners and interconnected among them to compose the whole testbed layout. The main goal of the GEYSERS testbed is twofold. On one hand, it aims at providing a validation ground for the architecture, concepts and business models proposed by GEYSERS, sustained by two main paradigms: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and the coupled provisioning of optical network and IT resources. On the other hand, it is used as a demonstration platform for testing the software prototypes within the project and to demonstrate to the research and business community the project approach and solutions. In this work, we discuss our experience in the deployment of the testbed and share the results and insights learned from our trials in the process. Additionally, the paper highlights the most relevant experiments carried out in the testbed, aimed at the validation of the overall GEYSERS architecture

    Choice of the initial antiretroviral treatment for HIV-positive individuals in the era of integrase inhibitors

    BACKGROUND: We aimed to describe the most frequently prescribed initial antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens in recent years in HIV-positive persons in the Cohort of the Spanish HIV/AIDS Research Network (CoRIS) and to investigate factors associated with the choice of each regimen. METHODS: We analyzed initial ART regimens prescribed in adults participating in CoRIS from 2014 to 2017. Only regimens prescribed in >5% of patients were considered. We used multivariable multinomial regression to estimate Relative Risk Ratios (RRRs) for the association between sociodemographic and clinical characteristics and the choice of the initial regimen. RESULTS: Among 2874 participants, abacavir(ABC)/lamivudine(3TC)/dolutegavir(DTG) was the most frequently prescribed regimen (32.1%), followed by tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF)/emtricitabine (FTC)/elvitegravir(EVG)/cobicistat(COBI) (14.9%), TDF/FTC/rilpivirine (RPV) (14.0%), tenofovir alafenamide (TAF)/FTC/EVG/COBI (13.7%), TDF/FTC+DTG (10.0%), TDF/FTC+darunavir/ritonavir or darunavir/cobicistat (bDRV) (9.8%) and TDF/FTC+raltegravir (RAL) (5.6%). Compared with ABC/3TC/DTG, starting TDF/FTC/RPV was less likely in patients with CD4100.000 copies/mL. TDF/FTC+DTG was more frequent in those with CD4100.000 copies/mL. TDF/FTC+RAL and TDF/FTC+bDRV were also more frequent among patients with CD4<200 cells//muL and with transmission categories other than men who have sex with men. Compared with ABC/3TC/DTG, the prescription of other initial ART regimens decreased from 2014-2015 to 2016-2017 with the exception of TDF/FTC+DTG. Differences in the choice of the initial ART regimen were observed by hospitals' location. CONCLUSIONS: The choice of initial ART regimens is consistent with Spanish guidelines' recommendations, but is also clearly influenced by physician's perception based on patient's clinical and sociodemographic variables and by the prescribing hospital location
