The present study is focused on analyzing the effect of Mn amount on two experimental steel compositions, specially designed for Q&P (Quenching and Partitioning), 0.15C-2.5Mn-1.5Si and 0.15C-3Mn-1.5Si without significant contribution of Al. Two-Step Q&P thermal treatments were performed at laboratory scale in a quenching dilatometer Bähr DIL805A/D. The fractions of retained austenite were evaluated by X-ray diffraction techniques. The mechanical properties of the Q&P samples were evaluated, a strong dependence of strength, uniform elongation and strain hardening values on process parameters has been found. Higher uniform elongation were related to higher residual austenite contents. The 0.15C-3Mn-1.5Si steel showed systematically the largest mechanical values with respect to the 0.15C-2.5Mn-1.5Si steel.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

The Limitations of Freedom of Speech Regarding Academic Freedom: Balancing Constitutional Rights with Humanistic Responsibilities

The value of free speech is deeply rooted in democratic principles designed to foster a marketplace of ideas where diverse viewpoints thrive and enable accountability and social progress. Simultaneously, academic freedom is essential for the pursuit of knowledge. Yet both must be exercised responsibly. This thesis examines the intricate relationship between free speech, academic freedom, and humanistic concerns like respect, inclusivity, and diversity. By exploring pivotal court cases such as Sweezy v. New Hampshire (1957), Bonnell v. Lorenzo (2001), Axson-Flynn v. Johnson (2004), Tinker v. Des Moines (1969), and Morse v. Frederick (2007), this paper illustrates the delicate balance needed in educational settings. The analysis suggests that schools should establish clear speech policies, prioritize education on responsible speech, and create committees to address speech-related concerns. An ideal policy balances court requirements, humanistic concerns, and promotes respectful dialogue while prohibiting harmful speech

Cosmic rays in the surroundings of SNR G35.6-0.4

HESS J1858+020 is a TeV gamma-ray source that was reported not to have any clear cataloged counterpart at any wavelength. However, it has been recently proposed that this source is indirectly associated with the radio source, re-identified as a supernova remnant (SNR), G35.6-0.4. The latter is found to be middle-aged (∼30\sim 30 kyr) and to have nearby molecular clouds (MCs). HESS J1858+020 was proposed to be the result of the interaction of protons accelerated in the SNR shell with target ions residing in the clouds. The Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) First Source Catalog does not list any source coincident with the position of HESS J1858+020, but some lie close. Here, we analyse more than 2 years of data obtained with the Fermi-LAT for the region of interest, and consider whether it is indeed possible that the closest LAT source, 1FGL J1857.1+0212c, is related to HESS J1858+020. We conclude it is not, and we impose upper limits on the GeV emission originating from HESS J1858+020. Using a simplified 3D model for the cosmic-ray propagation out from the shell of the SNR, we consider whether the interaction between SNR G35.6-0.4 and the MCs nearby could give rise to the TeV emission of HESS J1858+020 without producing a GeV counterpart. If so, the pair of SNR/TeV source with no GeV detection would be reminiscent of other similarly-aged SNRs, such as some of the TeV hotspots near W28, for which cosmic-ray diffusion may be used to explain their multi-frequency phenomenology. However, for HESS J1858+020, we found that although the phase space in principle allows for such GeV--TeV non-correlation to appear, usual and/or observationally constrained values of the parameters (e.g., diffusion coefficients and cloud-SNR likely distances) would disfavor it.Comment: In press in MNRA

Changes in the consumer's lifestyle over the past years, may lead them to increase their consumption of products that are environmentally friendly and less harmful to health. To verify this, the proposed objective is to study the organic products consumer habits in Tenerife according to the age of the consumer, in particular of generation Z or under 25. To this end, two samples have been selected, one forced by going to specialized sales points and another one made up of users from the surrounding area, carrying out two types of survey: one personal and another one self managed. Finally, after analyzing the compiled information, a number of results and conclusions have been drawn, highlighting that most of survey respondent are not regular consumers but occasional consumers, and that younger consumers consume less than the rest but their consumption has been increasing.

The purpose of this research was to apply an Action Plan aimed at strengthening coexistence and communication in a public educational institution in Venezuela through Participatory Action Research. The methodological approach was limited to the perspective of the Critical Paradigm, promoting the participation of the collective. It was carried out through four phases. In the Diagnostic, the research context was described using the survey as a technique of data collection in its form of questionnaire to students, teachers, administrators, workers and mothers, parent representatives. Discussion groups were held with the teachers, as well as field notes and photographs. The diagnosis reflects that students have little commitment to their academic responsibilities, lack of cooperation on the part of parents and representatives and non-compliance with the rules of coexistence. Once the hierarchy of needs was carried out and the SWOT matrix was applied, it turned out to give relevance to school coexistence due to its importance for communication, and integration of the entities of the educational process. The Planning phase made it possible to organize action strategies The execution phase corresponds to the application of the strategies. In the evaluation and feedback phases it was possible to conclude that each of the activities carried out within the framework of the proposed Action Plan generated a commitment to continue working towards a society that is capable and willing to relate respecting the individuality of the other, from a communication Harmonic in school coexistence.

Palabras clave: Cesárea, cefalopélvica, bienestar fetal, corioamnionitis Abstract: In recent years, cesarean has risen in relation to the transpelvic delivery worldwide, which is a pro- blem of health, taking into account its association with mortality and morbidity of patients and the increased costs which they represent. In this work, a descriptive observational study was conducted in the Regional Hospital Doctor Verdi Cevallos Balda in the city of Portoviejo, from January to De- cember 2015 with the objective of determining the most frequent indications for cesarean section. The universe consisted of 3037 pregnant women. The sample was cesarean section 1260 that met the  inclusion  criteria  as  early  cesarean  section, and exclusion  for  iterated  transpelvic  deliveries and caesarean sections. The results showed that 56.1% of pregnant women underwent caesarean section.  Within  diagnoses  prevalence  of  caesarean  section cephalopelvic  disproportion  to  42.5% was observed, the commitment of fetal well-being for 26.8% and 0.1% for chorioamnionitis, corres- ponding to maternal, fetal indications and ovular respectively. It was concluded that the indication of cesarean section, must be the result of a integral assessment of the maternal-fetal state, on which the realization of this surgical procedure is decided. Key words: Cesarean, cephalopelvic, fetal well-being, corioamnioniti

Genetic signatures of parental contribution in black and white populations in Brazil

Two hundred and three individuals classified as white were tested for 11 single nucleotide polymorphisms plus two insertion/deletions in their Y-chromosomes. A subset of these individuals (n = 172) was also screened for sequences in the first hypervariable segment of their mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). In addition, complementary studies were done for 11 of the 13 markers indicated above in 54 of 107 black subjects previously investigated in this southern Brazilian population. The prevalence of Y-chromosome haplogroups among whites was similar to that found in the Azores (Portugal) or Spain, but not to that of other European countries. About half of the European or African mtDNA haplogroups of these individuals were related to their places of origin, but not their Amerindian counterparts. Persons classified in these two categories of skin color and related morphological traits showed distinct genomic ancestries through the country. These findings emphasize the need to consider in Brazil, despite some general trends, a notable heterogeneity in the pattern of admixture dynamics within and between populations/groups
