    Get PDF
Periapical fibrous dysplasia, also known as periapical cemental dysplasia, PCD, is a disease in which osteocementary tissue proliferates to replace the normal architecture of bone. It is a benign, non-neoplastic osteofibrous lesion that replaces normal bone and is formed by cellular fibrous connective tissue, within which non-functional bone structures are formed. These lesions are closely associated with the dental apices and contain spherical or amorphous calcifications that resemble an aberrant form of cement. The present article seeks to document and report the occurrence of a case of periapical cemental dysplasia in a CBCT, highlighting the importance of computed tomography in the diagnosis and the possibility of evaluating the extent of the lesion through said study.Fil: Marra, Adriana. The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences

Attention to the condition assessment and conservation of cultural heritage is increasing due to growing sensitivity to the preservation of the built and natural environment and awareness of the risks associated with natural hazards. In this context, a comprehensive approach to the conservation and valorization of cultural heritage requires the combined action of different skills to achieve reliable assessment of the conditions of valuable assets and sites based on qualitative and quantitative indicators. This paper explores the issues of conservation and sustainable management of archaeological sites, considering humanistic and technical aspects. It reviews the current rules and practices concerning the maintenance and administration of archaeological heritage and outlines the implementation of a novel procedure, based on low-cost tools, to assess and describe the current condition of archaeological assets. Specific attention is paid to the interaction between experts and researchers operating in both humanistic and technical fields and to the knowledge and data contribution available on modern web-based platforms to implement reliable and low-cost data acquisition for the development of worthwhile plans for the conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage. The Samnite complex of Pietrabbondante, Molise, South Italy, is employed to apply and check the proposed tools in the real world

The protection of artistic and cultural heritage is a major challenge due to its peculiarities and its exposure to significant natural hazards. Several methodologies exist to assess the condition of artistic heritage and to protect it from exceptional actions. Moreover, novel digital technologies offer many solutions able to deliver a digital replica of artifacts of interest, so that a reduction in the uncertainties in the analysis models can be achieved. A rational approach to the preservation and protection of artistic heritage is based on traditional approaches supported and integrated by novel technologies, so that qualitative and quantitative indicators of the current condition of artistic heritage can be defined and validated in an interdisciplinary framework. The present paper reports the results of an approach to the maintenance and preservation of art objects housed in a museum complex based on a comprehensive digital path towards a Historical Digital Twin (HDT). A workflow aimed at estimating the stress regime and the dynamic properties of two sculptures, based on the detailed three-dimensional model resulting from a laser scanner survey, is illustrated and discussed. The results highlight the great advantages resulting from the integration of traditional and novel procedures in the field of conservation of artistic assets

The objective of this work is to give an account of the pedagogical and didactic processes that have taken place around the teaching of Dentistry in virtuality, in a health emergency situation. As a consequence of the pandemic, the teaching of Dentistry had to be adapted to the virtual environment. This process required on the part of the management teams, the chairs and the teaching body, as well as the support staff, and the development of new capacities. For this, the achievements and advances will be considered, as well as the concerns and attempts, reported by teachers in their adaptation to a complex and uncertain scenario, which required intense teamwork, in-service training and a lot of flexibility. From the experience carried out, multiple successes arise, as well as doubts, that as learning, will have continuity in the future of dental training.Fil: Echagaray, Patricia. The article deals with the definition and evaluation of a workflow to demonstrate that the parametric model of a historic building with a high level of digital maturity can be configured as a tool that fosters collaboration between the various professionals involved in the recovery and rehabilitation process of historic buildings. It also represents the starting point for developing structural models for quantitative analyses. The implementation of HBIM to the building aggregate called “La Giudea” in Santo Stefano di Sessanio (AQ), an artefact that is particularly representative of the historical building heritage of the small medieval village in the Abruzzo Inner Areas, has provided a model for managing the information deriving from the knowledge process. The model delivers to the use of the state of conservation, and it represents the base for the structural analysis of the asset and the identification of the measure and interventions for its preservation. The parametric model was developed in the design of strengthening and restoration works requiring interactions between digital environments. In such a framework, an investigation aimed at evaluating the interoperability of the digital model and particularly the vertical interoperability between different software packages has been explored

The main objective of this study was to identify and analyze the reactions of the servers to the changes occurred by the implementation of REUNI in a federal university. After 10 years of implementation of the Federal Universities Restructuring and Expansion Program (REUNI), many changes are still underway in these institutions. In order to achieve this goal, a case study was carried out at a Federal University which, with the advent of REUNI, transformed its technical school linked to university campus. The data were collected through 61 questionnaires and 14semi-structured interviews with servers belonging to the functional team before the change occurred. The analyzes were by descriptive statistics and content analysis. The results indicated that the changes occurred in the perspectives pointed out by Motta (2001): strategic, structural, technological, human, cultural and political. There was no efficient communication on the part of change managers, and there was also small server participation in planning. No active resistance was observed during the process of change in the context presented, but the acceptance to change by the servers studied
